  1. JR wouldn't even think of hiring a guy like Piniella. For one, he doesn't come cheap, for two he'd flatten KW if he even THOUGHT about trying to tell him how to manage.
  2. CubKilla is not the only one. Although I'm not as close to the situation as you are, the work I do involves "information" and "research" so hopefully at my age I have some smarts and instincts. Your assessment of Kenny and the management situation is real close to mine and as I already said you're in a better position to know than I am. The Sox are just going to have to win inspite of it all.
  3. 1. These were all the softest of softball questions. 2. I wasn't too thrilled about his reply concerning a long term contract for Buerhle. Does he really think Buerhle wants to go "year to year"?
  4. I respect both of you, two great Sox fans you are. RPS does have a point. The Yankees are about winning. You can hate them all you want but the organization is about winning from the owner down to the guys that sweep the stadium after the games. Ballplayers know this. They know that when they put on the pinstripes they are expected to perform at a certain level. They know that they have a real chance to WIN. That's why a guy like Wells will come to our spring camp in bad shape but when he signed with the Yanks he made sure he was off the sauce and in much better shape. Who can you blame for this? Our fearless owner of course, who cares about his investors and the bottom line more than anything. Carlton Fisk was quoted a few years back that JR makes the most money when the Sox are good but not too good. Don't forget the terms of his agreement with the State of Illinois. I believe it's not in his best interests to have attendance too high. You're right greg KW is a real jerkoff. An arrogant one too. It's just a bad situation for a team with really great and knowledgeable fans. I believe that most of the White Sox players know that if they had a championship team it would be a great experience. Kip Wells has said more than once that he's glad to be given a chance in Pitt, but it would have been great to be on a winner in Chi. Lots of guys feel that way. JR could be like a king on his throne if he really tried to bring a winner to Chi. I just don't get it.
  5. Didn't Buehrle and his agent make a proposal and the great JR make a counter proposal? Then didn't JR lowball him even further when he signed him? The owners still have leverage over guys with less than 4 years in the game don't they? Anyway, if Buerhle continues to pitch like an ace don't you think he's going to remember this when it's time to sign a long term deal for real money? Oh and by the way these last three games left me in a surly mood. You see which team made a statment don't you.
  6. Just like they stuck Crede down in the minors long after it was necessary. I know you like Joe B. I do too. The one thing that concerns me is too many K's. He does have that power though and a guy like him needs AB's to get and keep his timing. He will play better D than CLee and he's got to be a better baserunner than Lee. I get pale in the face every time Lee runs the bases. We got a lot of good looking young ballplayers and I'd like to see the momentum carried forward in 03. Please KW don't make another bonehead deal and I'm with you HSC on this one, give Joe a chance, a real chance.
  7. This one has really been beaten into the ground but let me grind this dead cat a little further into the cement. Watching something in slo mo on videotape is quite different than the actual experience. Everybody's brain processes information a little differently. Who the hell expects two morons to jump the first base coach?. I think that Harris and the ump had "deer in the headlights" syndrome. By the time their brains had really kicked in as to what was happening the cavalry had arrived. Paul I don't believe was in position to be aware of what was going on until much later. We don't know the ump and Harris so who is to say where and when in there individual lives they have shown either bravery or cowardice. This was a shocking event that occurred with lighting speed. People who were at the game and posted about it said just as much. You can't judge how brave or manly Harris and the ump are based on this one wild unexpected event. That is my take, and to all you cat lovers out there I like them too I was just trying to make an analogy, I'm not advocating running over Morris or any of his friends.
  8. Nice play by Jose on Damon. GREAT play by Jiminez to snare that liner by Floyd. I was real concerned with Floyd and Garciaparra coming up. Garciaparra flies out harmlessly to Magglio. Keith Foulke get the save. Final Score WS 3 Bosox 2. Hello again to RPS. Now if nobody minds I'm going to have a nice cold beer. Go Sox! 22-9 in last 31 games. Hope it isn't a mirage for next year.
  9. Anybody want to do the honors for the top of the ninth? It's OK by me.
  10. Jiminez ground out 4-3. Valentin ground out 3-1. Thomas gets standing O for probable final home AB in 02 and grounds out 3 unassisted. 3-2 WS after 8. Now holdem.
  11. Baerga out on soft liner to Valentin. That was a tough inning. After top of 8th it's 3-2 WS.
  12. Good catch by Borchard on Daubach. Two out.
  13. Agbiyani gets hit to score a pair. Never did like Osuna much. It's 3-2 still only one out.
  14. Wright K's Nixon. Merloni hit in helmet. Bags jammed. Out comes Manuel. Out goes Wright. In comes Osuna. It's one out top of 8th, Bosox have bags jammedand WS leading 3-0. Time for commercial. Jason you there yet?
  15. Mirabelli walks, followed by infield hit. Now 2-0 count on Nixon. Wright looks tired to me.
  16. Banks in to pitch. WS go down 1-2-3. After 7 it's 3-0 WS.
  17. Baerga, Andrews and Clark go down 1-2-3. After top 7th it's 3-0 WS.
  18. Castillo in to pitch for Bosox. Liefer and Crede K. 3-0 WS after 6.
  19. Yes! Maggs homers in Valentin who had walked. 3-0. Hey RPS. Anyone want to take over?
  20. Whew! Agbiyana walks with two out and then Daubach hits a screamer to deep center, Rowand makes catch at wall. At the end of top of 6th it's 1-0 WS.
  21. Borchard called out on inside pitch. Former Yankee and Sox star Moose Skowron catches foul ball. Paul K's and Jiminez is out 4-3. Hancock looking sharp. After five 1-0 WS.
  22. Bosox go down 1-2-3. Wright makes great pickup and throw to get Sanchez for out number 3. In answer to emailer Hawk says top 3 2B men to turn DP were Mazeroski, Dick Green and Roberto Alomar. At halfway point it's 1-0 WS.
  23. Liefer fouls out to left, Crede pops up to Clark, Rowand K's. 1-0 WS after 4.
  24. Wright has easy 1-2-3 inning. 1-0 WS at the end of top of 4th. Liefer, Crede and Rowand coming up. Jason feel free to take over anytime.
  25. Damn! Damn! Damn! Jiminez pops to short. Valentin does same to third. Thomas walks. Maggs hits a one hop scorcher off wall in Left Center. Thomas lumbers home is out at the plate. Is that my man Wavin Wally at it again? 1-0 WS after 3.
