Okay, this isn't a direct White Sox wish, but it would hurt two teams I really don't like sooooo.....I would really like it if Andy Pettitte would sign with the Houston Astros (or the White Sox--but I think that's NEVER going to happen, so I'm just going for the most likely scenerio here). If he can't be with us, then at least take him away from the Yankees and put him up against the Cubbies. And, I would like a good team for my White Sox, especially to shore up on our bullpen and 2nd base.

Lol, my roommate and I nearly fell off our chairs laughing. But I agree, Kunicich or Clark are the best options--but their name recognition isn't so hot right now. Dean might have the big name and bandwagon, but I don't think he's a straight shooter--but I'm not 100% on any of them.

Need evolution teachers in Tampa Bay?

Heather that cracked me up--you just made my day! Lol!

Be Good, you do realize this paragraph and its research implications are probably the lifetime achievements of some researcher at Oxford? Lol, my psych professors were all really excited about these studies, and I talked to one of the researchers that worked on the paper last year--this is their life. Maybe you should consider further work in the field--you've already started collecting data for your first empirical study....

I have a rather unique name so I only come up with hits that involve myself. So, all the way back to stuff I did and won in high school--to all of the stuff I've done in university. It's sort of a nice ego massage to see a respectable numer of hits on the world wide web all about me!

Lol, I would buy more tickets then. It is sort of a vicious circle with the tickets--how will more people come if we're only fielding mediocre teams. Thank God I don't work for the Sox in Marketing!!!!

I'm not asking for a division winning team, per say, I definitely think this is a rebuilding year, and I would be content with a young team that could develop into something. But I think that the way things are shaping up right now it looks that whoever wins the Central division this year will win by default. I just hope the Sox don't fall flat on their faces, and I do think that we will field a decent and watchable team next year. And while winning by default isn't very enjoyable, it is still winning...

It's very early in the off season. I'm not particularly optimistic, but I really don't think there is any reason to start genuinely freaking out until after the Jan 8th deadline and the winter meetings. Then come back and post in all caps freaking out--actually, save freaking out until every team is all settled in and wait until spring training to see how we all fit and play together and how Ozzie coaches. I think it's a little early for your reactions. Hopefully KW will pull something out of his ass....

To keep them in Montreal. Contrary to what is reported and commonly thought, there is a rock solid fan base up there, albeit small.
-
But seriously, I think the Brewers might fall behind the Spos next season with all of their financial problems. It is so sad that they lost Vlad--he was definitely the fan favorite up there, and those fans deserved to not get hosed for once. Poor, poor Yuppi.

I think the problem with I-Rod was the length of contract that he's looking for. A two year 15 mill deal, I think is over doing it, since he gets hurt a lot. But, Ivan is definitely getting up there in age, and I think he's being greedy if only in the amount of years he is asking for. I don't think he can give a reasonable assurance that he will play 4 (or even 2) years of injury free ball--so that's why I would consider what he's looking for greedy.

I agree on all counts here! Plus, he was such a fan favorite--that I think it would have put a few more butts in the seats. Oh, man, Robin Ventura was my absolute hero and all time favorite. I would almost forget about Koch's last season for KW if he brought back Robin.
-
If he's fine with that, I'm fine with that. I just never got over losing him. Sniff.
-
My deepest apologies on the Pudge front--I did, of course mean the overly greedy I-Rod and NOT the lovely and talented Pudge Fisk.
-
Since Pudge's contract had a no arbitration clause, where do you think he'll end up? I'm pretty sad he isn't staying with the Marlins and it sounds like they did a lot to try and keep him...But any predictions for him? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1680986

Yep, consider me moving myself over there. Sorry Josh!

Really? We'll never be able to compete, on a high internation level though...I've had this argument many times with football/soccer and rugby both. We can pick off the smaller nations but I would be surprised if we ever consistently competed on the level of the Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, and the rest of Europe and Brazil (for soccer). It's a shame because they're really beautiful sports. Brutal, but gorgeous. And man, I've never had as much in my life as when I went to profession football matches in Europe. Well, except for Sox games, of course.

Yeah, he's got a sweet foot. I love it when I can con the boys to switch the tv from football to soccer or rugby. Johnny is AMAZING. He's great! Sigh. Sweet, sweet rugby and football. I wish the leagues were bigger here in the States, but I think I am on too big of a digression here.

And hopefully by 2006 I'll have gone back to Australia to see the Wallabies play!
-
Thanks DBAHO. Looks like they'll have some good stuff at the end of 2005--thank God I'll have moved out of Minnie by then.

Does anyone know what their farm system looks like for pitching? Are they looking to bring a lot of guys up or do they have a lot sitting back--or will it be a mediocre year of pitching for them? I guess I don't feel like a lot of the TC pitching from last year is still around or healthy...

Minnesota did, surprise, surprise. But, we've had snow for about a month...I've been reading about the big snow you guys got--hope everyone's dealing well with it out there!
