  1. What company/product do you like so much you wish you could be their spokesperson? And can I guess that Tonyho would work for Sirius? As for me, I'd love to be the spokesperson for Dansko shoes (most comfortable shoes ever) and CLR (the calcium lime and rust remover).
  2. I really like Lisa Madigan, are there any whispers that she may run for Governor sometime?
  3. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) Dumb question, was Sunday Bloody Sunday used during a program? Or as part of a commercial they paid for? If it was just in a promotional spot or as part of a tease during a broadcast, ESPN didn't need permission to use it. It just had to pay royalties to U2 for its use. However, if the song was used for a paid commercial. U2 would have had to give permission. It was used as a promo lead-in. So, if they just had to pay royalties and not give permission that makes it a little better (for U2). I remember just being absolutely stunned and pissed when I heard that.
  4. I lost all respect for U2 a couple (?) of years ago when they let Sunday Night Football use "Sunday Bloody Sunday"
  5. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 03:13 PM) Just curious... why is that a good thing? Because she served her whole term, even though everyone said she would run in 2004 despite her pledge to serve the entire term. Kap and I kind of had that discussion on the previous page.
  6. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 09:15 PM) You're right. She had to wait... I don't know because I'm not in NY, is she saying the same thing this term? Probably not. To be honest, I dont' know what she's saying about her term and whether she'll serve it all out. I think I've read in the NYT that she plans to serve all of it, but that was a while ago. Either way I think she's pretty much a shoo-in, pretty much everyone has a Clinton sign (and remember, I live in the more conservative Upstate Region), and I couldn't say for sure whom she is running against. . .
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 23, 2006 -> 12:19 PM) Ick.. no flowers. Just call her. Movie and dinner (fast dinner like BWW or Applebee's). The conversation from dinner should clear up any questions or concerns you have. ^^^^ Definitely no flowers. And I also think Steff's suggestion of a fast dinner is really good too, plus Applebee's usually has a game on, so that could ease any awkward. Just be straightforward and honest, that way all expectations will be clear.
  8. I learned that I'd better get used to having to pick between a douche and a turd sandwich because it's usually the choice I'll have. I think that really says it all.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 06:39 PM) /rolly Obama and Hillary... "I will serve my full term"... What bulls***. You know, people were saying that when Hillary first took office. . .What bulls***.
  10. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) Nuke, I've been wondering the same thing for a while now. Hell, my little brother gets suspended for a while for sniffing glue (his first time doing it and it wasn't just him, it was a group of them, but he gets caught becasue the teacher and assistant principal are hispanic racists [assistant was fired 2 months later]) That's not the only reason eigher, but that one just sticks out to me. It's not like he was in a fight of brung a weapon considered dangerous or anything to school. I've sniffed glue, my sister, alot of my friends, family, etc.. When your a kid, your curious especially if it's a school-type material. So, because everyone sniffs glue it's okay? Sorry, but I think the school is right for suspending your brother. . .
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) I went to the Australian equivalent of Home Depot today. They were giving away free Cotton Candy, and I instantly thought of you Steve. I thought you guys called it "candy floss" or is that only in the UK?

    Fear of Flying

I used to really be terrified of flying (actually crashing, but whatever), but I used to fly so much I got over it. Anyway, what always makes me feel better is wearing loose fitting clothing, so I'm comfortable. I tend to feel claustrophobic on planes, so not having really restricting clothing on (especially around the neck) really makes me feel better. That and lots of deep breathing. You could buy one of those relaxation cd's to play, I find those can be helpful. And remember: some people pay thousands of dollars to get on a plane and get "cured" using implosion therapy. So, really, you're doing the same thing and saving a bunch of money.
  13. Growing up my pediatrician always told my mom that a few bruises, scrapes, and skinned knees/elbows just meant you have a healthy active child. Sounds like more parents should take that advice. . .

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 06:12 PM) ROFL, my girlfriend wanted me to go as Peter Pan with her as tinkerbell and I was like screw that. At least she didn't ask you to be Tinkerbell. . .
  15. I started watching Bravo's reruns of Six Feet Under (never seen that show before) and, wow! It's great. I am absolutely addicted to that show now.

    The Office

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 10:40 AM) I missed the first 2 shows this season so I have no clue what happened with Pam, Roy, and Jim. Obviously Jim got transferred, but if someone would be so kind, can I get a quick recap - or a link to one? I also missed the last few minutes Thursday night. The funeral thing was irritating to me. Jim transferred to Stamford. At the last minute Pam got cold feet and called off the wedding. Roy went on a bender (took it poorly) and hit rock bottom when he got a DUI. Roy is trying to "win Pam back" and he realized he took her for granted, but wants to get back on track with Pam. Meanwhile, Pam started dating again (with notice from Toby from HR, who almost asked her out). Jim also knows that Pam is single (and dating). I can't say you missed much by not seeing the first two epis.

    The Departed

Just saw the movie. Pretty good. I was all pumped up for a huge shock ending, and well, I didn't think it was particularly shocking. Well done film though, good writing good acting and an overabundance of hotties. So, I will consider it two hours well spent.
  18. So. To top off my stellar week: I got really and weirdly sick yesterday. While I was making myself some tea, I came back to the living room only to find my dog tearing up and eating a pin cushion. I couldn't find all the pins. So I called the vet, who said to feed her bread and take her into my vet the next day to get X-rayed. Then my dad called to say they're putting down one of our dogs (we've had her since I was in junior high) this morning. Which is really sad. Took the dog to the vet, got her x-rayed and no pins! There went $100. Ugh.

    Halloween costumes

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) Awww.. Last year Ginger (the 70 lber) was the angel and Abby (the 15 lber) was the devil. I was surprised they liked the costumes. This year.. not sure if we'll even be home to hand out candy. Caton's about 60lbs, but only 6 mos, so she'll keep growing. She actually does like the wings (not so much the headband), but what can you do. It should be exciting. She's actually wearing a little children's costume because I had a hard time finding a good doggie costume that would fit her.

  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 13, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) Another one of my friends died last nite....this time it was my old next-door neighbor. I thought friends were supposed to start dying off when you hit 70, not 18.... I'm sorry heads, that's so hard. I lost a good friend very unexpectedly early this week. It never gets easier. . .
  22. Once my sister went grocery shopping with my grandma, and my sister saw a can of hash (I believe it's a potato product). And so, obviously, my sister said, hey grammy do you want some hash? To which my grandma replied: Oh yes, we like hash. I still laugh about it.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Oct 12, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) I've thought about Wwoofing for quite some time, but never got the nerve to do it. I would love to do, it sounds like such a cool way to travel or have a break. I would love, love, love to do that on a farm in VT or NH this summer. . . Or across NZ or Australia.
  24. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Oct 11, 2006 -> 06:02 PM) CSA Farming anyone else a nerd and dream about doing something other than desk jockeying? In a perfect world, I'd work/own one of these farms. Have you ever thought of wwoofing?
