August 3rd Game thread
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Tadahito Iguchi's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I saw someone post earlier about how Paulie has gotten his avg close to his career avg and can pass it by the end of the season but thats not the problem. The problem is that you want consistency from your team both hitting and pitching. We all know Crede ain't worth s*** when hes batting in the first half but in the second half he does pretty good. My point is that I rather have someone hitting an even .250 the whole season than .200 in the first half and .270 in the second. I understand its hard to not slump through the whole long season but its how much you slump and how streaky you are. -

17 left on base, how rediculous is that. Didn't they leave like 12 on last night? ugh. -
Buehrle facing possible suspension, fine
Whitewashed in '05 replied to bjm676's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We'll see what happens and it is interesting the Sox are always the bad guys in these situations. Ozzie and co. do have a little history with some of these umps so I wouldn't be surprised if they did fine and suspend Buehrle and/or Ozzie. Crazy Carl doesn't have the best rep and neither does Ozzie after that incident with that one ump about him not being a pimple on his fathers ass. Wendellstelt or something? Was that the same incident last year where he got an additional suspension for calling an umpire a liar? After thinking about it I actually do expect some kind of suspension and fine to Ozzie and MB. -
I would've rather had Adkins in the pen than Jizzcan. Im not sure of his exact stats but I do remember Adkins doing good last season until the last month or so. He looked pretty good yesterday and I am confident he can keep it up. Hopefully he can give us another reliable arm down there.

Do the Sox need to look over their shoulders
Whitewashed in '05 replied to SpringfieldFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) I didn't know which post to quote...basically all the one's that said who gives a f***! a)...why would you even romotely care about somebody who's fighting for their division lead and a wild card?!? All the Sox need to worry about it who's behind them in the division...period! f*** the A's! If the Sox have the best record in the league at the end of the season and the A's get the wildcard we will meet in 1st round of the playoffs. Check out our stats vs them and see why some people are worried. -
Don't know if im going to be posting this at the same time as anyone but theres a new article on whitesox.com talking about Viz and his success lately. I really don't care about that part of the article because he sucks when we need him, plain and simple. The part I did like in the article was when KW was talking about Minn. He said he doesn't feel sorry for Minn because he didn't receive any sympathy cards when we lost Maggs and Thomas last season. He also said he still remembers the Burke play Torii pulled and if he were playing that him and Hunter would've had a big problem. Thumps up to KW on this, I really appreciate him coming out and talking about that cheap shot and the Twins. Check it out for yourselves. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) The last 4 times the A's have made the playoffs '00-'03 they have been knocked out in the 1st round in 5 games. '00 - Yankees 3 - A's 2 '01 - Yankees 3 - A's 2 '02 - Twins 3 - A's 2 '03 - Red Sox 3 - A's 2 They still kick our ass from here to Oakland. I'll pass on playing the A's in the playoffs. -
Do the Sox need to look over their shoulders
Whitewashed in '05 replied to SpringfieldFan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox shouldn't worry about the A's, their job is to keep winning. As a fan of the Sox I will worry because I do not want to see them in the playoffs. I am rooting for the damn Twins to kick their ass and anyone else who squares off vs Oak. As long as the sox stay healthy, keep pitching good and keep up their good offense the past few games is all im worried about. -
Yesterday when I saw Buehrle was ejected before the 6th I just thought "NOOO." I came here to read in the game thread why and in there I saw everything talking about Hawks reaction. Well, after listening to it I know what everyone was talking about when they said he had the reaction of any other sox fan. I am also happy he spoke his mind. Also after listening to Hawk for a few more times after everything I found it pretty funny. I loved Buehrle's comments after the game when they asked him what he thought, "Would I have liked to have kept it going? Yeah," Buehrle added. "It was fun while it lasted and unfortunate the way it ended. But we won the game, and I'll just start up another one." I'll just start up another one, hell yeah MB lets so how long your streak SHOULD'VE lasted. Funny ass clip of Hawk though.

Jenks-Sweeney Conversation
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow, I never knew how nice of a guy he was and always hated him for killing us. Now I greatly respect him and not only because he complimented Jenks. -
I don't know about all that "Ozzie doesn't like Gload" talk, if I remember correctly Ozzie loved that kid Gload in spring training of 04. Unless something went sour I don't think its Ozzie who doesn't like Gload.
-
Wow, I didn't know Ozzie went this deep into the organization. We all hate a lot of his managing decisions like his use of pitchers or the "b" lineup days but none of us really know how he is to the team. I respect Ozzie far more greatly for his efforts in helping the family. The Thomas family will be in my prayers, the important part is that no one was hurt.

Sox wondering about Franks future
Whitewashed in '05 replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if this is just me but talking about Frank Thomas having played his last game with the White Sox or in his career just makes me mad. The docter said its not career threatening and I hope hes right. I am rooting for the big man to heal and be ready next season. The sox need to atleast sign him to an incentive based contract for next season if its true that it isnt ending his career. For the people who have something against FT keep those thoughts to yourself, Thomas is a big part of the Sox franchise. -

Am I the only one loving the emotion El Duque is showing out there? Its ok to be modest like Buehrle and Garland but a little emotion doesn't hurt, and I love it. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:23 PM) So what? He's our fifth starter. I'll take six innings, three runs from him every night out... Definitley, I won't complain at all if he gives us that everytime out. -
Didn't Nevin have a smart ass comment about the sox after they kicked the Pads asses?
-
KW holds McCarthy a lot higher than mostly everyone here does after his unsuccesful major league stints so its safe to say that unless its worth it KW will not let McCarthy go. In KW I trust.

Jaque Jones' lack of effort pisses off Gardy
Whitewashed in '05 replied to The Ginger Kid's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) This is probably not deserving of its own thread, but I found this quote rather revealing from a team that prides itself on backing each other up: Its actually funny, usually they back the players judgmeant on the play but he straight called him out. -
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) In case you didn't realize it, I was using dry humor in answering you Graffy example. KC trails the White Sox by 28 games - they've already lost the division, or any chance of competing within it so I'm not sure that they would be worried about how much better they make the White Sox - if the Sox were to meet their asking price/get rid of the large contract - but I doubt that will happen. Oh god, if KC wouldn't trade a damn utility player to the their division rival what makes you think they would trade Mike Sweeney? By the way im done.
-
KW is working his ass off right now, he is doing a great job trying to shore up this team, if theres a deal he can do he will do it. We all know this but there are some who seem to forget that about KW and he gets bashed. I hope everyone appreciates everything he's doing even if he can't get a deal done.
-
QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:08 PM) I'm sure the Royals were concerned that the White Sox would run away with the division had they acquired Graffy! and you just further proved my point about acquiring Sweeney, good job. :headshake
-
Ugh that would be a horrible move, I'll pass.
-
If they wouldn't trade Graffy to us what made you think they would trade Sweeney to us?
-
Red Sox will explore Ramirez trade
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Whitesoxfan56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If KW is so worried about chemistry then we know he won't be coming here and thats just conisdering his clubhouse presence. As far as the huge contract that we will NOT be taking who are gonna give up? Garland? Ha, u know they would be asking for him. Not only that but this guy is one lazy f***er. I would only want him in the DH spot but 20 million for a DH with a bad attitude no thanks, that would also end Big Hurts tenure as a Sox. NO THANKS. -
