  1. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:20 PM) Verlander's game??? Haha. You're right. Woops. But besides that
  2. It's funny about our ninth innings recently. Usually, we threaten and fail to execute. Recently, we haven't even threatened. Kind of makes the end of the games a little bit less annoying actually.
  3. So how will we give up a run or two making the ninth inning even more of an impossible task? A) Solo HR B) Error C) Bloop hits D) Walk, SB, bunt, Sac Fly E) Twinkie dust.
  4. I would really like to see Thome pinch-hit for Q against Nathan, any chance Ozzie let's that happen?
  5. Last out for all intents and purposes. Paulie may need to hit another.
  6. How much you wanna bet JD swings at a bad 3-1 pitch?
  7. Well it's this inning or never. If we haven't caused a blown save this season against another closer, it's not going to happen against a guy who owns us.
  8. QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:00 PM) There's where a hitting coach could offer guidance. Or our two hitters, could just see what a good hitter looks like and try to emulate his style at the plate. There is a reason they play sparingly and he plays everyday and we all know it ain't defense.
  9. Of course, the Twins make the nice defensive play...
  10. Fields/Nix could really learn a thing or two by watching Beckham. Up the middle is how you need to think against lefties like Perkins, not pull, pull, pull.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 08:56 PM) Come on Jayson, 1st and 3rd him. He'd have to go opposite way, which I don't think NIx can do.
  12. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 06:39 PM) I've heard some great things about Born to Run. I really want to check it out, as I've really gotten obsessed with running this year. That one looks very good. I am currently reading Running with the Buffalos, a running book about the University of Colorado XC team. Once I get done with that one, I may have to check that one out.
  13. He seems like a real nice guy. Just comes across as grateful for the opportunity to play baseball and that he doesn't take it for granted. Hope he makes to the show one day, he'd make a great story.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 07:55 PM) If we had a good double play combo, we'd probably have 5-6 more wins this year. It's amazing how the most routine double plays aren't turned by the Sox. Nix is generally awesome, but Alexei is a bum. Makes all the amazing plays, but not the routine. Getz just sucks there. PAULIE!!
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) Wow this teams defense is pathetic.... are we the worst in baseball?? Our two corner OFs have poor range, our CF is a terrible defensive player. Our SS is lackadaisical, our 3B is new to the position, our first baseman has no range and our everyday second baseman has no arm. AJ is average, bad arm, but is solid elsewhere.
  16. Our team needs this. Go after them AJ.
  17. Is there really a point in watching these three games? I know I am just going to get frustrated watching s***ty defense and horrible approaches at the plate against s***ty pitchers.
  18. Why do the Twins never make errors like this against us? We always seem to have horrible defensive players compared to them.
  19. Once a Runner -- For all the runners out there. It's a classic.
  20. Why are the Sox being so conservative with him? I mean, Shoemaker clearly is too good for Bristol, so bump him up a level to see if he can sustain it. I mean, Kanny is a bad offensive team minus Mitchell, so it's not like we have too many good hitters there or something.
  21. We have the better pitching going every start (even Colon, as hard as that is to imagine). The Twins are going to score, we just better bring our bats every game. They always seem to hit us well in that park.
  22. The perfect game = HOF argument for me is the same as the 4 HR argument. Mike Cameron hit 4 bombs in a game, but belongs no where near the hall of fame.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2009 -> 09:32 PM) Don't forget that Colon will be facing the Twins next start. Remember how well that went last time? I hear Mauer, Morneau, Kubel and Cuddyer made a reservation for a 7:30 tee time the night Colon pitches.
