Ozzie and his Usage of Aaron Poreda.
QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 07:28 AM) Poreda's not stretched out. IIRC, Ozzie, and Coop have both said publicly Poreda isn't an option for the 5th spot right now. And that is KW and Ozzie's fault. Why have him as your second lefty if you don't pitch him. I understand that you want him to be working with Coop, but at some point, meaningful innings have to be more important than working with the big league coach. One thing in our system is we have some legit minor league bullpen guys that could definitely give you some solid major league inning. Let Poreda continue to be a starter because I don't think he has the stuff to be a closer (based on what I have seen from him) but he does look like he could be a solid starter. And when will Torres get his due? Kid is dominating AAA and look real good in the AAA all-star game. He has legit stuff and loves to pound the zone, give me him over Richard, please.

7/18 games
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 11:48 PM) The Dan Hudson Box score experience continues to bring a huge smile to my face, I also wish "my boy" Holmberg would make the Bristol rotation. I think putting him in the pen severely limits his ability to throw all of his pitches and establish command. I think it's about being careful with Holbermg's arm. He already pitched a high school season and being from Florida probably has been playing year round while also doing a lot of pitching. I am sure he will start next year, but this year, they just wanna get his feet wet without killing his arm.

7/18 Sox Vs. O's on Fox
Well that's annoying, but I'll take the runs we did get.

7/18 Sox Vs. O's on Fox
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) wise would be doing just fine if you assholes would stop booing him He is terrible, but booing him is stupid. It's not like he is A-Rod and sucking where you are paying him a ton of money. Wise is a AAA, but gets put in the lineup everyday. The problem is KW not proving an adequate option in CF. I mean it's not his fault he sucks.

According to ESPN, Bergesen is pitching today with Guthrie being pushed back one day due to illness.

Carter leads minor league baseball in Ks. Not bad.

Billy Koch arrested for altercation with neighbor
He definitely sucked with the Sox, but I really don't know how much of his demise was due to his family being stricken with that mystery disease. If that happened while he was on the Sox, it's hard to fault a guy for not being there completely on the mound.

Shawn Johnson in a Sox hat at ASG
Hate to ruin everyone's parade here, it may already be posted earlier in the thread, but I am lazy: http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/ind...l-bobby-knight/

7/13 Games
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 13, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) I think alot of us are going to be very disappointed with how Carlos is with this injury. His defense will be maddening. He was taken out after two at-bats tonight. Was this scheduled? Or is this something with his injury? I would think he should be playing more than two at-bats at this point in his rehab...

7/13 Games
I am hoping Carlos comes off the DL on Friday. I am going, so it would be awesome to see Carlos back.

Your 2011 Chicago White Sox
Lineup 3B-Chone Figgins (L-My best guess at a FA signing) CF-Jordan Danks (L) RF-Carlos Quenetin ® 1b-Konerko (R-I figure maybe they sign him to a 2-year deal after his current deal is over) C-Tyler Flowers ® SS-Alexei Ramirez ® 2B-Gordon Beckham ® DH-Dayan Viciedo (R, good chance he isn't ready yet, but this was hard enough, so just placed him there) LF-Jared Mitchell (L) Rotation 1. Buehrle 2. Floyd 3. Danks 4. Poreda 5. Hudson I really struggled with firstbase, but figuring he could very well be the best option, I kept Paul there in two years. Let's hear yours...

Goldstein on Viciedo: 'Very Disappointing'
QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 12, 2009 -> 07:40 PM) I think it's fine to say that we've been disappointed because we expected more from him, but it's not really time to start waving red flags on him yet. I think part of the problem was the unrealistic expectations we had for a 19-year-old, playing his first minor league season in his first year ever in the United States. Granted, I had lofty expectations for him, but I think the Sox are certainly not worried about him otherwise they would have demoted him. We just need to remember how young and were he is playing. Usually, AA has more future talent than AAA.

7/12 Games
Morel isn't lighting up the world, but quietly, he is having a very solid first full professional season. .269 Avg, 18 2B, 11 HR, 17 SB and a .785. He looks like he could be a future league-average 3rd baseman. Granted his average isn't high, but over a full-162 game season, his numbers project out very nicely. According to Baseball America, he has good range and a plus arm, so fielding isn't an issue for him. He could very well develop into a Joe Crede-type player.

Futures Game Today: 1 PM Central, ESPN2
I think Viciedo just grounded out to the pitcher, but I wouldn't know for sure with the Red Sox love fest going on.

Questions for pitching prospect Dan Remenowsky
How I can be you? But seriously, how much extra motivation does being undrafted give you?

Goldstein on Viciedo: 'Very Disappointing'
I fully expect Dayan to get in better shape this off-season and have a really solid year next year. He should start in AA and I think he will have a solid year of maybe: .280-.290, 15-20 HRs and 80 RBIs. Improve the walk rate and lower the K rate, play better D, as well. I honestly cannot imagine how difficult this year has been for him adjusting a new country not speaking English.

Goldstein on Viciedo: 'Very Disappointing'
He's still very young and had a very tumultuous off-season getting signed, residency, finding a place to live and all. To me, this year showed me he has talent, he just needs refining. Hopefully, he's lose weight this off-season, become a little more comfortable with America and next year, explode. Just think though, if any one of us were transplanted into a completely unfamiliar country where we don't speak the language, I think our first year doing whatever, sport or work, would get off slowly, too. He is still 2+ years away, so I am not worried at all.

7/12: Sox @ Twinkles: 1:10 CT, CSN
This game is ours. Seriously, we should own. Baker has a 6.85 career ERA against the Sox yet is somehow only 3-3 against us. Buehrle, on the other hand, has a 3.72 career ERA and is 23-13 against the Twins. Let's get Mark his 10th before the all-star break!

Stats for Every Draft Pick
QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) I hope the sox sign Bryan Morgado and one of Thompson or Goodwin. Obviously the way Morgado has been pitching as of late is going to raise his price but its worth it. I agree. This class doesn't have that special feel unless 2/3 of those guys signs. Even then, it might not be great, but you need to get those dynamic OFs and/or electric-arm lefty.

7/11: Sox @ Twinkles: 6:10 CT, WGN
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) How is Castro's arm? If it's halfway decent I wouldn't mind seeing him get a start today or tomorrow. AJ has no chance of throwing out a runner. You really wanna take him out after his 8/17 in his last four games? He's on a roll right now, you gotta ride his hot streak. And in July, he's hitting .462 with a 1.270 OPS. We need his bat.

Seems like a very even pitching match-up. Having a feeling though that Gavin will get small balled to death in that s***hole dome.

This might be another 20-1 game. I am done watching. Will check the box score later. Adios.

I am just assuming we will be .500 at the all-star break.

Great way to start off the season in the Dome. God I hate this place. It always beings out the worst in our time. Thank god this is the last season of it.
