Palehose vs. Twinkies 7/29--7:10pm--CSN
Why was he not on the team earlier? He looks like a terrific LOOGY. He just devoured their three best hitters.

Palehose vs. Twinkies 7/29--7:10pm--CSN
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) Oh jeez, you have to hope he didn't tear ligaments in his ankle. Sell KW, sell! Yeah that looked bad. Just the way he was grimacing on the ground, you have to think ligament damage. This could be a huge blow, not just this year, but possibly for next year, pending on the severity.

This team is comedic right now. Every SB attempt from the other team ends up in CF it seems.

When he doesn't have to move much, he is very good in RF.

Restovich is clobbering the ball in AAA, so he could be an adequate player in LF for Q. There just is no reason to risk long-term injury to Quentin, when this year is looking so bleak.

Please shut CQ down. No reason to risk anything worse with his foot. We are not going anywhere this year, please just let him get healthy.

Randy Williams up with the Big League Team
Seriously, our team is not that good. I would much rather Clayton just get out his learning curves this year and go for it next year with a better team. Clayton really has impressed this year and really frustrated me, too. But it's hard to overlook the fact that not only is he a lefty, but he throws pretty hard for a lefty (91-96) and has natural sink on the ball. I really think this team is a dominant righty away from being back to a WS contender (with some other key moves next year). Blockbuster for Haren in the offseason? Haren/Buehrle/Danks/Floyd/Richard. Sign a couple key bats and this team is very solid for our division with a terrific rotation.

Mitchell Blurb
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 12:57 PM) Yeah, there's no doubt we would be fine with Danks in CF for years to come. I just believe that Mitchell has the potential to be an elite CF with more experience with full-time baseball. Brandon Short is another guy that could be a good one in a few years. It's possible, but CF is more than just range. I would say Danks is range is very good, maybe Mitchell's is great, but still so much is dependent on getting great reads, which Jordan is excellent at. He also has a good 3-4 inches on Mitchell, which can help in the OF. Danks' arm is probably a notch better, too. Jordan can be a GG out there. I just hope these guys make is the big leagues because their range in the OF would be a huge asset.

2009 Cubs thread
If the Sox were in the NL Central we would probably be way over .500. We owned that division in interleague play this year.

Palehose vs. Twinkies 7/29--7:10pm--CSN
We honestly should be in first place by at least two games right now. Once the Twins stop playing us in that ballpark, they will go back to their suckitude and maybe we will start playing respectable baseball again. And seriously, Gordon Beckham needs to be the 3-hole hitter. He is giving the team the best at-bats and is probably our best overall run producer.

Probably won't be able to watch today, that might be a good thing. I hope we can win and get this s*** figured out, but I am not hopeful. 5 games and counting...

7/27 Games
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) So is it too early to be worried about Phegley? I wish we had some observers for Kannapolis games to shared their thoughts. It ain't looking good, that's for sure. Minus Mitchell, this draft looks very very weak. Hopefully Thompson is a player. However, two players can make a draft, but it would nice to add to our depth and give us some trading chips.

White Sox @ Twins, 7:10
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) How come every player called up by the Cubs from Iowa seems to do so well? This pitcher they got in the Derosa deal looks pretty good. They have extra sweet gatorade. Michaels made a huge mistake and got lucky.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:43 PM) Exactly why Getz needs to be playing more. And he is getting better now. He started hot, had that finger injury and that stunted him.

White Sox @ Twins, 7:10
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:41 PM) I got about 20 e-mails at work saying "guess what, Cubs are in first" today. I don't think I had even talked about baseball with half of them this season. I went Saturday with a buddy of mine who likes both. I just hate all the fans who know nothing about the team and pretend they are die-hards. Some guy behind us was wearing lots of Cub gear and didn't even know Gregg's name. He just said "our closer who throws from the top."

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 09:39 PM) I figure it this way even if the Cubs make it to the playoffs they won't beat the Phils or Dodgers... I don't hate the Cubs as a team like I do the TWins or Tigers, I just hate their fans.

And now the Cubs are threatening. Could this night get any worse?
-
White Sox @ Twins, 7:10
Well let's go Astros.
-
White Sox @ Twins, 7:10
How typical, our s***ty defense is the reason we lose the game. The Twins didn't beat us, we beat ourselves. (Sorry to go Hawk on you all, but it's true).

White Sox @ Twins, 7:10
So typical. Wow. Defense.
