  1. I really like Getz, but he has quite a limited ceiling. Fields sucked. So we aren't losing a ton. But Teahen ain't that good either, so we aren't getting a ton, except for versatility — which can be quite valuable at times. I am just kinda meh at this point, not happy, not too angry. I'll wait to see what KW's master plan is before I react to this seemingly inconsequential deal.
  2. He should start in AA and move accordingly. I hope we only see him as a reserve outfielder in September this year because that means we don't have OF problems. Great to see him healthy out there.
  3. http://joefrisaro.mlblogs.com/archives/200...or_hermida.html I have always loved the skill set that Hermida brings to the table. He would be a nice player to have and frankly I would rather have him at $4 million + whomever is traded to get him than Podsednik because of Hermida's upside and the risk that Pods had a fluke year. Or you could have both, and move Q to full-time DH. I think he is a guy KW and staff need to take a hard look at. He isn't making too much money, either, so that will help keep the payroll low. Question is who could we trade to get him? Danks for Hermida would seem fair, but do we want to upset the elder Danks. Retherford's value is highest to the Sox, not to other teams. Could Morel and say Leesman get it done? Thoughts?
  4. QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 28, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) i know its a hitters league, but if you ask me the best part so far about Danks' numbers ....8 BB and only 5 Ks That's great to see. I am really hoping we resign Pods for one year and Danks is ready to take over LF in 2011.
  5. Larry, you sprayed on Jesus? Thought Curb was pretty funny last night. I was laughing hysterically though, when Richard and Larry were basically re-enacting the death of the lady's husband. And then she just nailed Lewis with the car. I was dying at the point.
  6. Cl- Jenks SU- Thornton MR- Williams MR- Linebrink MR- Carrasco MR- Pena LR- Torres Williams had two bad outings the entire year, although they were big games. But overall, he did very well against lefties (.162 BAA), so I could hardly complain about having him as the second lefty in the pen. Jenks isn't going anywhere, he finished the year on a strong note. Thornton is a stud, enough said. Linebrink is untradeable, so he unfortunately stays. Pena was OK for a 6th inning guy, Carrasco was solid and we need a long reliever since D.J. probably moves into a more important role. The big question is the 7th inning. Can Pena/Linebrink get the job done?
  7. Thought Curb was very good last night. Obviously, had nothing to do with the Seinfeld storyline, but I thought it was funny. And How I Met Your Mother was the same: not important to the story line, but really really funny.
  8. Way to go man. Your in what sports psychology calls a plateau. If you just stay with it, peaks are bound to happen again. Keep it up and you start making progress shortly.
  9. I just took and got all of them. Well I created it, so that's probably why. I love late 80s we had great picks and then we sucked big-time for the next two decades basically. Hopefully that ship has turned around with Beckham.
  10. http://www.sporcle.com/games/maggsmaggs/whitesoxdraftpicks Can you name all the White Sox first-round draft picks since 1985? DO IT and post results.
  11. EPIC. Kaner back on the the stat sheet.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) Last night's Curb did suck a fat one though. Pretty stupid premise throughout. I'll agree with that. Sometimes, they make too much of an effort to have the most innocuous things Larry says or someone says to Larry become huge quarrels. While I know that is Larry's shtick, sometimes it's a little over the top. Like the caviar and Christian Slater argument, I thought they tried to hard on that one.
  13. I would love that lineup, but the biggest problem remains the money issues. Figgins is going to cost you $10 million or more per season and Johnson probably $7-8 million. That's way too much than we can afford.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) There was a Hudson question in chat. Matt Forman said he needed 46.1 innings to qualify for SAL consideration. That would have him eligible for AA and just missing the cut for High-A, though he said he would be in the Carolina League. Also said Hudson would be in consideration for top 3. He lie like a rug. Jordan Danks checks in at 14 and Morel at 20. No Hudson. Carolina league was pretty so this really isn't surprising. Complete list: http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/prosp...009/268965.html. Someone wanna post the scouting reports?? THANKS!
  15. I am taking Bailey, his numbers were sick. And I don't care that he played for the A's or was a reliever, he still was a rookie and the best damn numbers.
  16. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 01:48 PM) Sharp made a great play to settle that puck down as well. Again, this team is LOADED with skill, the only thing that is going to hold them back is Huet. Who knows maybe with a real good D, Niemi can be a very good goalie. He looked good 2day, made me much less nervous than every shot Huet faced on Friday.
  17. Sally League Top 20 is out now. Mitchell ranks 8th and Dex Carter ranks 15th. I don't have a BA subscription anymore, but anyone care to post just the Mitchell blurb. Really looking forward to seeing the AA list.
  18. I generally dislike Cowley for his shots at a team he is supposed to be covering. But his whole Merkin stuff is hilarious. His Twitter updates about Merkin and going for perfection in not spilling his drink is priceless.
  19. I believe to protect a player, you must place on the 40-man roster, so the only I guy I would place on the 40 would be Hynick. He seems to be a solid bullpen arm, maybe for next year. But the rest of the guys, I really wouldn't shed a tear over if we lost them nor do I think a team would take them and keep them in the majors all year — the only exception is Hynick. The free agents, I would try to resign them all except Lucy, Cannizaro and Wasserman.
  20. I voted for Paul, Scott, Freddy and Pena. Paul has had a solid year, not great, but good enough to count on for next year. Scott could probably be resigned relatively cheaply and in this economy he is a solid bargain even if he looks lost on D. Pena is under control for a couple more years, and has at least proven to be a solid innings eater in the pen. Maybe not the 8th inning guy we all envisioned, but someone has got to eat the 6th and 7th. And finally Freddy, no point not to bring him back. All it costs is $1 million or $2 million, so based on what he did this year, at that price for a fifth starter, he could be a terrific bargain. At the very least, you want him, Hudson and Torres competing for a job.
  21. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Sep 21, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) I can't remember what the name of the restaurant was when I went down there for a baseball tourney. But there is a really good restaurant that is full of baseball memorabilia and commemorates Ozzie Smith, if only I remembered the name. Yeah that restaurant is awesome. His gold gloves are there and their food is pretty good. I was there this summer.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 20, 2009 -> 09:47 PM) The biggest game of the season for the White Sox? Seriously? I was just going to say that. Haha. The Sox have been out of the race for at least two weeks now.
  23. Pablo Ozuna and the squirrel. Simple as that.
  24. http://www.chicagolawyermagazine.com/2009/...t-just-aint-so/ Kind of long, but a real interesting read.
