Peavy could be sidelined as long as 12 weeks
It's all academic really though. With Peavy this team still sucks. And in the AL, he becomes a solid pitcher, but not an ACE like in the NL.

6/12 Games
QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 08:49 AM) This is why I'm ok with trading Dotel this season - you have to figure the Sox give his spot to one of these guys next season either way. Link is the most realistic guy and I am confident he will be up in September at the latest. Hernandez might still be a year away, and Jones is definitely at least two years away. I would also be surprised if Remenewsky (or however you spell it) is ever a major leaguer. Relievers in the minors don't usually have the best track records in the majors. Edwin Almonte, Dave Sanders and Arnie Munoz come to mind.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY THREE
Shirek seems to me to be in the mold of a Twins pitcher, just looking at his stats. Low walk total, not a ton of Ks, gives up hits but always posts a solid ERA.

2009 Cubs thread
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 02:25 PM) Sorry, Holy Messiah of Sox Fans. Don't try and tell me or anyone what kind of fans we are. I probably went to my first Sox game before you were born. The only way we gain any ground on 1st place is if the Tigers lose now, not the Twins. Hence, I will pull for the Cubs vs. Detroit, but will be neutral vs. Twins. Hope we are watching how to hit Wells. Other way and up the middle and be patient. It's funny listening to Brenly talk about the Cubs approach batting vs. the Twins. It's the same thing we do against them and they do against us.

2009 Cubs thread
When the Cubs play the Tigers, I am 100% in the Cubs favor. I just don't think the Twins can contend with Det.

2009 Cubs thread
90% of me wants to Cubs to win b/c I hate the Twins, but 10% wants the Cubs to see even in a bad AL Central, they can still kick the NL Central's ass.

If we sign Goodwin, in addition to the others, this becomes a really good looking draft.

Even though this is Conan's thread, I sent in a "Small Town News" to the Letterman show about a month ago and it was on Tuesday night's show.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Fields couldn't hit water if he fell out of a boat.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
We are about to go 3-9 on a homestand we should have at least gone 9-3.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
You know your baseball team sucks when your option for the last out is Dewayne Wise pinch-hitting or Josh Fields.

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) Jermaine has no clue at the plate tonight I agree that he is struggling, but he does have a .900 OPS on the year, so he is producing. However, it seems like he has sucked this year.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) I hate the bunt. I hate our team.

High heat or loopy curve and AR is gone.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Alexei actually has a 1.000 OPS with runners in scoring position, two outs. Get a quick swing AR.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Ball 4 and wild pitch, please.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Sadly, Scott is the guy I feel best about right now with a guy at second. He has shown a nice, quick swing this year.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Just a looper Scott.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 08:55 PM) I feel really good about Danks tonight. A great turnaround from his last start. Of course it coexists with a horrible offensive game. Figures as much. When we do score runs like yesterday, the pitching s***s. It's just all not working.

6/10 Kitties vs. Sox @ 7:11
Hawk is about one more s*** call or Sox blunder away from losing it. It is going to be hilarious in a minute.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) Awesome! Thank God we ran ourselves out of that inning! Wouldn't want the momentum going for too long. Well to be fair, not stealing means we need an extra-base hit by Getz (not likely) or two hits in a row (also not likely) or a Getz walk and a hit (unlikely as well). So the SB makes only one hit necessary.

TCQ update: If Sox Out of Contention, Shut-Down...Maybe
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 05:48 PM) Here's something for KW to ponder: does he go ahead with the idea of Quentin as our franchise DH starting next year and fill in LF and RF if Dye/Thome leave? That could open up a spot for a leadoff hitter. I wouldn't. We are going to be really depleted letting both of them go. I would keep Thome as the DH, assuming he is willing to come back at a discount. Leave Q in LF, bring Danks up as CF (this year play him in the majors, so he is ready for next year) and sign a right fielder. Dye is doing well offensively and defensively this year, but he is too expensive.

TCQ update: If Sox Out of Contention, Shut-Down...Maybe
I love how KW and OG are on the same page here. Something tells me they are not getting along real well right now, otherwise why would there be so much lack of communication and apparent disagreement over Beckham (being ready for the majors) and Q (his health).

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY TWO
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 04:23 PM) Danny Black's slow ass?!?! BWHAHAHAHAHA!!! I can't believe a guy who I "sorta" hung out with at Purdue (mind you I didn't go there, just passed by alot on campus/hitting on women ) got drafted by us. Very cool. He, Andy Loomis (Marilins pick I think 16th round last year) etc.. Those guys are crazy. One of my good friend's boyfriend is going to be dominating us for years. That is crazy. (Crow)
