  1. I know it's early, but Gordo doesn't have the bat speed I thought he would. Just saying, I am not doubt his ability or anything, but I thought it would be better than what we have seen.
  2. Fields is a puss. He had that whole thing about the clubhouse and not being able to cope with the immaturity there and now he has a problem with having pressure on him. If you had hit .238 with power and solid D, Beckham wouldn't be pushing your ass. But you have hit .238 with no power, a terrible K/BB rate and bad defense. Wake up and smell the coffee Josh, you suck.
  3. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:57 PM) AVG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG OPS 280 48 157 36 44 10 1 7 27 77 40 46 1 0 .442 .490 .932 getting on base at a rediculous rate hitting 380 with a 1203 ops against lefties. possible platoon for aj next season? dont want to stunt his development but that could be a good way for him to break into the bigs I actually think that might be the best option. Against righties this year, AJ has got a .856 OPS. Against lefties, Flowers has, as you mentioned, a 1.203 OPS. That position immediately becomes a great offensive position for the Sox. It would also help him know the Sox pitchers and gives him one year before he takes over full time. It also gets his major league experience and coaches to help him defensively. The downside, which would probably preclude this from happening: Ramon Castro and the D. Making him AJ's platoon makes the Castro trade pointless and gives us two bad defensive catchers. However, I think it is probably the best for the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 08:28 PM) Be nice for Allen to get it going. His numbers during his call-up to Birmingham last year were sick. Yeah, 14 or 15 HRs (forget which) in that ball park was ridiculous.
  5. Eh, Barons only have 11 runs in three innings. Danks: 1-2 w/ a BB Retherford: 2-3 Flowers: 0-2 w/ a BB Allen: 2-2 w/ a BB Viciedo:2-3 The studs are studly. All this in THREE innings!!
  6. Wow. Poreda is better than Freddy, just promote Poreda is Freddy is going to be expected to be in the rotation at some point. So far on our reunited gig, only Pods has worked out. Freddy is done, no need to sign him. Sox continue to have questionable moves.
  7. Anyone notice how Alexei went to the other opening in the dugout, not the one near Ozzie? Yeah, he would have gotten a bad look.
  8. Thome going to go back-to-back with JD, I predict.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 02:33 PM) PK had a double yesterday. We had one opposite field hit in the entire Cleveland series. That is just so horrible. Tie game! OMG RUNS!!!!!
  10. Honestly, when was the last time we had an opposite way hit? I don't remember at all.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 02:28 PM) Well half way home 3-1 Tigers. We have got to get the bats going! Too bad that won't happen...
  12. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 02:18 PM) and flowers just comes up and has a .400 OBP right? He won't struggle at all like Beckam, and will just be all-star caliber from day 1? Obviously not. But we are not going anywhere, why not let him come up and get his bumps out of the way in a season where nothing is going to happen? AJ still has some trade value. I also think Flowers would have a better OPS than AJ right now. He would def. walk more and bring more power. Prolly bad average, but this season is lost, bring on the youngsters b/c I can't take this s*** anymore.
  13. Bring up Flowers and Danks2. I am done with AJ and his s***ty D, when we could have an on-base monster there playing equal D at worst. Danks is better right now than Wise no doubt and will be better than Anderson. Start Beckham everday at 2b and make Getz a super utility player.
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 01:44 PM) Our bottom of the order hitters have to be some of the worst in baseball. I think that could be said about all parts of our order this year. No one is really having a great year.
  15. Who in their right mind would vote for the Sox in the text poll? Tigers going to win at least 3.
  16. Why do we always let bad players beat us? Seriously, some of the guys that beat us have no business beating us? It feels like we shut down the opponent's top players, but the s*** ones beat us.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 12:44 PM) Fathom, is there an inside thing you have there? Or are you going more the Stanford connection? I think the Sox like Storen but taking him at 23 would be a mega reach and if they do that they better f***ing take a shot one on one of there other early picks and not cheap out on everything else. If they reach for him, there is no doubt in my mind that they are making him a starter.
  18. I think Eric Arnett from Indiana. Gibson is going to slip so someone who wants Arnett, I believe, so Arnett might drop to us and we get ourselves a nice, power arm. I also think Drew Storen will be picked by us, either in the comp round of second round.
  19. Could be nothing, but maybe is something, but the official White Sox Twitter (I don't tweet, I just follow, for the record) lists some twitters to follow about the draft. One is Lisa Winston, one is Jonathan Mayo, one is the official MLB draft twitter and the last one is Drew Storen, pitcher from Stanford. Could Reifert have gotten some inside info? People on the board like him, he is from Indiana, has a Stanford connection with KW and fits the mold of a college pitcher. Probably not for the first pick, but maybe the 2nd or 3rd. Looking at his numbers this year, so-so ERA, but terrific peripherals. He also has three pitches, so he could be converted back to a starter. But I thought it was interesting that Reifert would include a link to his twitter, but no one elses.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Getz and his .600 OPS will be hard to replace. But that stat doesn't count grinderness and heart.
  21. I predict Link will be called up relatively soon.
  22. I'm going to be taking the LSAT on September 26. It would real nice if the Sox had 0 hope of playoffs by then for my cause. Sadly, we still could be in the race with how bad the division is.
  23. Whisler is clearly not any good. That first out was a mirage, look at his AAA numbers and he had bad peripherals.
