  1. Nathan will probably be 1-2 to every batter and then either get a K on a splitter or a ground out. I expect no balls to be hit hard.
  2. 1-run lead with Guardado coming in for the Twins. I think the Mariners put some runners on the base paths this inning, but will they get the clutch hit is the question cuz no one touches Nathan.
  3. Mariners pen is pathetic. Come on.
  4. Stephen Strasburg (sp?) of San Diego State (or just SD) is pretty much the top guy. but he is advised by Boras and his demands will probably be the highest ever. The kid is just wicked, he throws up to 99 MPH and located and that's not even his best pitch. He is the top talent. Another guy to watch for is Kyle Gibson of Missouri. If he gets his head on straight he can be downright nasty too. Low to mid 90s with sinking action and very projectable.
  5. QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) I agree. However, I would promote them very quickly if they were producing. In my world, I would like them both to be in AA and then move up to AAA for the rest of 2009, so that they can inflate their numbers and have confidence coming into the 2010 season. Realistically, when was the last time the Sox brought up two guys from their farm system and inserted them as everyday starters right away. 1999? with C-Lee and Singleton. This year sort of with Q and Alexei, but that doesn't happen often, so I am sure we will see them separate maybe next year.
  6. WTF? On ESPN gamecast, that ball that Uribe swung went out of the park. That pissed me off.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 06:42 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-t...p&type=lgns They say that he's too dangerous. 12 year olds throw like 70 MPH in at the LLWS. Right? From where they are pitching from, what does the 40 MPH equate to in terms of MLB speed. That would tell me more cuz 40 MPH is still slow.
  8. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) With Paulo Orlando gone now, Danks has the inside track to start in CF for B'ham in 2009. Shelby will be in LF for B'ham in 2009. Greg Paiml deserves the starting job at SS for the Barons in 2009. So, I think Beckham will start in W-S in 2009. I am fairly certain that if Beckham performs well the rest of the year, he will start in AA. Paiml might deserve it, but you want your star prospect to face the best competition possible to prepare for the Bigs.
  9. One batter too late on the grounder. Well we needed one anyway, so let's get it now.
  10. Horacio probably got the start because of his starting pitching background and Ozzie thought he was would the least difficult transition to "starting" this game. We should have done better against the Orioles s***ty pen those first two innings and not even be in this situation.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) This would not happen to anyone else in baseball. Haha. Nope. AJ always finds himself in the middle of everything.
  12. AJ is the smartest baseball player in baseball. He is just always in the game.
  13. Wow huge break. Make it hurt.
  14. God dammit!!! This is so depressing. We can't f***ing hold leads this series.
  15. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 01:44 PM) for a guy with 100+ Ks iwamura sure seems difficult to put away yeah he has battled every time at-bat against us.
  16. I love it that I have to root against the Red Sox and Twins rather than root for the White Sox because I am so sure this game is already lost.
  17. great start to this inning.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) fixed I actually meant across the world, but I somehow wrote continent. haha. Good catch, but yeah across the world is what I meant.
  19. Let's hope Mark stops our little struggle here and gets us back in the win column.
  20. QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) Yup, I just looked it up. No way was that a hit. Who's the girl in your avatar? She is FINE.
  21. QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) Just saw that Chris Carter has been on a power binge recently... Currently 3rd in MiLB in homeruns with 36. He was also 1-25 in a recent stretch, may still be going on. He is definitely a major leaguer power wise, but he still has some trouble making contact, although he walks a lot. He also really doesn't have a position except DH. A poor-man's Adam Dunn?
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 07:00 PM) Outgoing President Barack Obama? Mayor for life Daley? Michael "going for gold medal number 30" Phelps? Michael Jordan? The man who spread basketball across the continent.
  23. Here is 1-25 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/base...ex.html?eref=T1 Here is 26-50 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/base...pecota50/1.html Honorable Mention http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/base...a.hm/index.html How can Carlos Quentin not be on the list when guys like Robinson Cano are at least mentioned in the honorable mention category? I surely would understand him not being in the top 25 maybe, but come on no mention at all of a 25-year-old leading the majors in HRs and poised for a .300/40/120 season who just is getting healthy. It boggles my mind that Dan Uggla (28 years old), Dustin Pedroia (25 years old) and even Matt Wieters (who despite his minor league greatness has done nothing in the majors) can be on the list but no CQ. Am I wrong here or did BP drop the ball?
  24. Today is the first day of the Twins ultimate doom, or at least I hope. I would love a 3/4 take from LAA and us to take 2/3 from TB, both realistic and that would give us a nice little cushion to work with.
  25. Gagne, in 2003, was damn near unhittable. I mean teams probably thought there was no way they were scoring on him, he would be my choice as that season was just sick. I mean 15 Ks per 9 inn, an almost 7:1 KK to BB ratio, 1.20 ERA, .133 BAA and a 55/55 in saves. Those are literally Nintendo numbers, granted he was probably aided by PEDs but damn, it was the best season for a reliever IMO.
