I guess that's what you get when a 50-year-old runs.

Ruseell better realize it's on him tonight and he might have to wear it.

And a routine play will cost us big time, it looks like.

50 FAVORITE WHITE SOX PLAYERS
I just can't believe how good he was the first two months of 2004. It boggles my mind that since then he has gotten worse and worse and worse. But the best thing about Juan is his team-first attitude. He plays where ever the team needs him to play and doesn't say a word (maybe that's cause no one undestands him anyways english or spanish, but who cares).

Carmines vs. White Sox 6:05 CT WGN
Two huge keys tonight: Be patient with Dice-K as he walks lots of hitters, but does not give up many hits. And Jose has to be first pitch strike as the Red Sox won't be chasing pitches unless they are behind in the count. Tonight would be a nice night for Wise because Dice-K is not especially quick to home and lefties hit appreciably better against him than righties but there is probably no room for him to start. So you need Swish, Thome and Griffey in the lineup. Konerko has been hitting better, but he is not a better matchup tonight than the lefties. So should be lineup tonight: OC (SS), AJ ©, Q (RF), Dye (RF), Thome (DH), Griffey (CF), Alexei (2b), Swish (1b), Uribe (3b).

Twins Watch Thread 2008
Michael Cuddyer broke a bone in his left foot while during a rehab assignment. Big break for the Sox as he is a pretty good bat. From Rotoworld.com Article: http://www.twincities.com/twins/ci_10146621?nclick_check=1

Twins Watch Thread 2008
QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 09:50 PM) I like the idea here. I'm following the game on gameday. Royals can't deliver but they outhit the Twins already, I still like their chances. I don't anymore. Nathan gonna have at least a 2-run cushion/

Three more outs. We really need a couple insurance runs here.

Hawaii and sports question
Buy a SlingBox and then watch your home TV from anywhere in the world. It is just sick, as I type I am watching the Cubs game (hope they choke) from work.

I am pretty sure I forgot the Milkman on my list. Damn. I loved him until I realized he was blocking this sick prospect in the minors.

Buehrle just needs to throw strikes. The Red Sox are a patient group, so throw strikes, keep them off-balance and let's put a few up on Lester. This may be the one time I root for failure from him because he is a hell of a story and nice guy (or it seems that way from every time I have seen him interviewed).

Sunday's Sox-Sawks matchup is now on TBS
Let's hope we are going for the sweep or to take 3/4. Cause I probably will watch the Olympics instead if we suck this series.

The Happiest Man on Earth
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) I'm also guessing he is an NTHS grad, like you. If this is who I think he is, then yes he did go to school with me and is probably the most biased fan in the world. He really refuses to listen to other's opinion about anything else.

The Happiest Man on Earth
QUOTE (Gregory Pratt @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:57 PM) This is my latest article, "The Happiest Man on Earth," a profile of a Cubs fan who invited me to watch the minor league game at Wrigley Field with him last Tuesday. To quote my editor, I have "unearthed a Cubs fan who gives all of Cub Nation a bad reputation." Rat Arnab is quite the character, and I think you will enjoy reading about him and the game as much as I enjoyed writing about them. Now, I won't say his name (Rat Arnab is not his real name right) but does he go to UIC and admire Mariotti?

Gio Gonzalez going to be called up
QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 8, 2008 -> 12:35 AM) Who cares about peripherals in the Majors Leagues? People only use them in the minors because they can show dominance that will result in success in the next level. I have a huge argument with a friend of mine that Gio is not gonna be any better than a 3 (and I've said worse things than that). He says he will pitch like an ace when on his game and at worst is gonna be a 2. We'll see... That's true. Look at Vaz. Pretty good peripherals, but he sucks.

8/7 Sox v Tigers, 7:11, WCIU
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) With their pitching and pen, they simply cannot do it. Exactly. Very few teams, if at all, can hit their way to a 10-game win streak. But teams can pitch their way to one. As we are seeing with the Tigers pitching, they are bad and pitching their way to a ten game losing streak.

Knight: Just a suggestion with the top Sox players. Maybe a sub-forum on the PaleHose main bored so that all of them are in one place and easier to see. Just a suggestion because it would be cool to see them all in one place rather than sporadically placed.

2009 Free Agent Class
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 6, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) My two must gets would be Orlando Hudson and Casey Blake. Both are plus 800-OPS guys who are great people, as well. Slide them into 3rd and second and move Alexei to SS. Those would be great upgrades to our offense. Somehow resolve the Swish/Konerko thing and find a CF through a trade of Fields + Swisher plus anything else, and try to get a defensive minded CF with speed. But we need to add some speed and natural hitters to the lineup for balance. This homer lineup is great at home, but on the road, we can't manufacture runs. I've been thinking about this move for a CF with speed, I would really like to see the Sox go after Alex Rios who has had a down year. He can play CF and has speed, plus CF in Chicago is much easier than Toronto. You would have to move Swisher in this deal because Toronto would need someone like that right away (and he is a Riccardi guy because of his OBP). So I would think you could make a move of Swisher + Fields + Poreda for Rios and probably obtain him, not sure if that's enough, but if would give the Blue Jays some ML ready talent. And Swish is the same age as Rios and has a OPS barely below his. You would get your CF/leadoff hitter, though not a high OBP guy, but someone with speed. Plus, he is only 27, so still in the prime of his career. The lineup with the other additions look like this: 1. Alex Rios (CF) R 2. Orlando Hudson (2b) L 3. Carlos Quentin (RF) R 4. Jim Thome (DH) L 5. Jermaine Dye (RF) R 6. A.J. Pierzynski © L 7. Paul Konerko (1b) R 8. Alexei Ramirez (SS) R 9. Casey Blake (3B) R If you could somehow move Konerko for garbage, but get someone to pick up his salary and get someone a little more mobile at first that would be great, but probably unlikely. This lineup has speed at the top, power the next few guys and then solid hitters at the end. I would love this lineup and I don't think it's too far-fetched. Fathom, please read and respond because I would like your opinion on Rios and possibly obtaining him. (I guess I value your opinion pretty well).

Gio Gonzalez going to be called up
Gio was my favorite Sox prospect twice, before and after the trade. I hope he does well, except against us. I still worry about his body and being able to pitch 200 innings consistently, but right now Lincecum is downing that stereotype of small guys pitching well and staying healthy -- so far. But I just have a hunch, Gio is gonna be a lot like Rich Harden (maybe not as filthy numbers wise) but a guy who when healthy is pretty damn good, but he just can't stay healthy.

I feel a good day at the plate for Juanny. Maybr I feel this way cause he is due for something positive offensively.
