  1. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) They just said on ESPNNews that the Sox are close to a deal for Lannan. I think it's just the Rogers' rumor and that's their source. I don't think it's a secondary source.
  2. The Lannan rumor made its way to ESPNews. Rogers' false rumor is making its way across the country.
  3. Apparently (taken WSI) Rogers said that the talks have cooled for Lannan and now Hanrahan is more of a possibility. I'm sorry, I don't trust Rogers' source, I don't know his reputation, but I have never heard him give good inside scoop ever.
  4. Is there anyone listening to score that can confirm that Rogers is saying it's Joel Hanrahan now?
  5. the fact that we haven't had Levine talk about this makes feel like it will get done.
  6. on SI.com now: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writ...ml?eref=writers
  7. I would assume Clayton Richard would have to be traded to the Nationals as part of this deal. They would clearly want an ML ready pitcher. BUt like mentioned before, why would the Nationals trade a 23-year-old lefty, who is dealing this year?
  8. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) only way i see this trade working out well for us is if Konerko is traded, Swisher moves to CF, Dye plays 1st and Griffey plays RF we're basically getting a guy who's absolutely brutal on defense, according to the guy that Lawrence just spoke to from Cincinatti our defense is 2nd to last in the AL, you have to wonder how Griffey being in our lineup as anything but a DH doesn't hurt the team JD has not played first base in his life, why should we expect him to move there? Why would he want to learn a new position in a pennant race? With Griffey in CF, Swish at 1b and Dye at RF we are much better defensively than with Dye at 1st, Swish in CF and Griffey in RF? With Dye at first, you have two guys at positions they would be bad at instead of only one with leaving Dye at RF.
  9. Richar and Massett, seems like a hefty price to pay.
  10. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) no lol, he has just known that he will probably be moved. oh, gotcha.
  11. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:13 AM) Chris De Luca, from the Sun times, is saying swish and paulie to platoon at first. Griffey will play center and has known since he hit his 600th. He thinks that BA is probably gone. Griffey has known about a deal to the Sox since the 600th homer?
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:03 AM) Nobody significant on the current team? Or nobody significant in the organization? Entire organization. So cross fields off and other good names. But let's just hope he is right.
  13. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:00 AM) What the hell is taking so long for everything to come out? Jesus Christ it's annoying. Doesn't the score have people that can atleast contact White Sox management and find out a thing or two about the prospects or what the hell is going on with the logjam of slow in our lineup. That's what she said! Sorry, couldn't resist.
  14. Levine just said no body significant will be going back, as far as he knows. Hopefully, he is right.
  15. QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:10 AM) Then the rumors of KW talking to both Bonds and Sosa and bringing them on for the weekend series are true! haha, never can have enough corner outfielders apparently.
  16. Stoney thinks maybe Swisher to Oakland for Street? (all speculation on his part, no inside info). I would puke if that happened. Trading 3/5 of your top prospects for a set-up man. UGH.
  17. There has to be a correlary move to Griffey because there are too many parts for too few positions, but we are now getting over-the-hill players because the farm system has no movable parts (or ones that people want).
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:47 AM) We all seem to think we are giving up solid prospects, Red's fans best case scenario is Brodway or us taking salary..... There has to be a middle ground there. True if it's Broadway or a similar player, I won't hate as much. I just think KW tried to make a deal to just ignite something. But I don't really see any impact that Griffey makes that a hot Swisher can't do or even plantooning Wise and Anderson.
  19. Haven't read anything on here yet. But I hate this move. They are gonn agive up some solid prospects for a guy who isn't better than what we have already. Great name, but this is 2008. Griffey is terrible now.
  20. All of our problems in trying to upgrade the talent on the ML club at the deadline is from a terrible farm system. Our organization's cheapness for draft signings (minus Borchard which turned out to bomb) and internationally has made our system incredibly weak. Even with the trades we have made recently, you would think that our system would still have player, but really no.
  21. yeah despite Floyd struggling recently, he still had a 3.86 and 4.09 ERA in June and July, so still a solid starting pitcher. And he is only 25 years old. No way in hell I would trade him. Even if he performs at his July and June pace his career, he still is a good middle of the rotation pitcher, but he is a stud and there is no reason to trade him unless you are getting Doc Holliday.
  22. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 09:15 AM) How's Gerst doing overall now? Also not a bad start for Poreda, would like to see him K some more though. Just a hunch, but I think that was Poreda's last start as a White Sox?
  23. I really think it depends what the Sox do at the deadline. Right now, I don't think they can make the playoffs with 2-3 good starters, and 3 dependable/healthy bullpen arms, and having 3 sub .230 hitters. KW needs to make a big move because even if they squeek into the playoffs, there is no way we can compete with the Angels or Red Sox whose pitching depth is amazing and have much deeper, better and balanced lineups. Even in a 5-game series, I don't think we can steal a series from one of them. My hope is we make the playoffs and somehow the Rays win the East, cause we can beat them.
  24. I would just a whole team of Cubans, seriously. They seem to know how to play baseball real well. Just give me 9 Alexei's and I will be happy.
  25. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I don't know why, but watching us manufacture a run in the top of the first, and watching Clayton pitch the bottom, I've got loads of confidence tonight. Cause we look like the Twins playing good fundamental baseball and our pitcher throws strikes and works fast?
