Pizza
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) You have to try Barnaby's. Best pizza ever, IMO. Its a crappy little restaurant, there are 3 or 4 of them, around the north and northwest side and suburbs. Dark, dingy, poorly decorated, and you have to pick up your pizza at the counter (they scream numbers over a PA system). But the pie is just amazing. Amen. I love Barnaby's. I go to the one off Skokie Highway and it is amazing. Sometimes I think I love the crust more than the pizza, but really its all yummy. Can't go wrong with the pepperoni.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
DT says nothing going on. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...1,4671715.story Of course, it's not like he would say anything is going on. But we shall see...Maybe he's got a little KW in him when he says all is quiet on the western front, a war is usually going on.

Sox prospect selected for US Olympic Team
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 17, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Just on Getz vs. Richar, if there was an opening at 2nd base next season, who would you rather start b/w these 2? This isn't to slight Richar, but at a middle infield spot, i would prefer the guy with substance over style. Getz is not flashy at all, but he makes all the plays in the field, has speed and always runs hard (watch future's game). He is a smart guy who is just a baseball rat. For all the talent we have had in a White Sox uniform, I can only think of a couple true "baseball rats" we've had: Rowand and Gload (and that may be a stretch). I think Richar has got the world of potential, but I don't think he'll ever reach it. meanwhile Getz is gonna be a solid regular for years to come, a great teammates and you would hope his teammates would feed off his hard-working style.

Official Recruiting Thread II
Nathan Scheelhasse picks Illinois. Stud QB from Kansas City. Final four of OU, ILL, KU and Iowa with Mizzou and Nebraska rounding out his top six. Pretty good pickup for the Zooker. Could get the ball rolling on some other big recruits (i.e. Hawthorne) and help pick time with Appelton, Oku and others.

Sox prospect selected for US Olympic Team
QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jul 16, 2008 -> 05:22 PM) I would think Richar instead of Getz, no matter what his numbers are in Charlotte. He's already been here, and his performance was acceptable. I would disagree. Getz plays close to gold-glove caliber at second base, but as well can play SS, OF and even third in a pinch not great but at an okay level. Getz is much more versatile than Richar and playing much better with better walk numbers. Because of his versatility, I believe Getz goes ahead of Richar especially because Richar may not be 100% recovered from his injury.

Sox prospect selected for US Olympic Team
Werid Getz didn't make it. The US team doesn't really have much middle infield depth. But, maybe this is the Sox protecting Getz because he clearly is a option soon in the majors.

7/14 Games
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 12:40 PM) That's a very good point. Of all the shortstops we are discussing - Beckham, Escobar, Silverio, Miranda, Paiml... odds are, only one or two at most will be major league talent. And the most hyped ones aren't always the ones that make it. So you never know. Well, Beckham is already an MLB-talent, so there is one. My best guess is that Silverio or Escobar become the other one from this group, not sure which, but I am gonna guess only one. But at least with Beckham, you know you have a MLB-caliber player right now. Watch him have a very easy transition to the pro game because he was very good in the Cape Cod League last year with a wood bat. Of all the draft picks this year, he has one of the lowest floors, and a pretty good ceiling. At worst, I see him as a .270, 15 HR, 20 SB type middle infielder with the potential to be a .300, 30 HR, 30 SB guy from a middle infielder which would be simply amazing, but he has the talent, work ethic and baseball IQ to become that.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 15, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) As many have already said, Duchscherer is having a phenomenal year but how long will it last? I think going after him is just incredibly risky and I'm not so sure I'd support it. If want a pitching upgrade, I'd much prefer going in another direction. There are few, if any, pitchers that are upgrades over Contreras still. He has had some bad outings that has inflated his ERA. As much as I dislike Contreras right now, Burnett can be just as fickle, same with Cabrera and basically every other pitcher available. IMO, Duchscherer is the only steady guy out there, maybe Bedard too, but he's injured.

Why Do You Love Baseball
The highest of highs when your team is winning. And the lowest of lows when your team is struggling (not my favorite part, but a part) I have never had such a love/hate relationship with anything like baseball and the Sox. I live for the highs that baseball produces for me (i.e. 2005 and many times this year). Also, the history of the game that dates back to pre-1900. Seeing Yankee Stadium this month and seeing Monument Park, just all the history involved with the game. Many moments in my life that I remember involve the White Sox. I can remember specific events from way back with detail.
