2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 08:55 PM) DBacks really should be trying to trade for Nady or Bay. Their lineup tonight is just awful! But I thought Chris Young was a hall of famer in the making, that's if you listen to many Sox fans Haha. He is still a solid ball player, just can't hit a lick in the majors, but brings it in the other facets of the game. How much would they love to have Quentin as their left fielder right now. They have the parts to make a big move for a guy like Nady or Bay, but if their lineup is clicking they are a tough out in the playoffs with that rotation and a bullpen that is shaping up to be solid if Lyons returns at full strength.

2008 Chicago Cubs Catch-All Thread
Tony Clark!! Reading some posts at NSBB.com, its so funny how similar they react to us. Chicago baseball fans seem to overreact more than any other sports fan. But their posts are so identical to ours it's scary. Can't wait till the Brew Crew tie them up after tonight.

7/23 - SOX vs. TEX, 1:05 pm, CSN
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:29 PM) Carlos GIDP. Why weren't two fast runner in OC and Swish not running? Hit and run would be nice, but NOOOO! Hit-and-runs with two on, no out are very risky. Carlos has been swinging and missing more than not recently, add OC's not so great speed at second and you risk running yourself into the first out at third--an ultimate baseball no-no.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 03:28 PM) Konerko is going to end up being a hero today. I can pretty much guarantee that being false. And I hope I am proven wrong.

ESPN rates top Ozzie blow ups
I am thinking another top ten blow up is on the horizon, especially if we continue to suck the next two series...

Richard is gonna be fine. Give him one more start against Twins and I think he proves to be more than serviceable. His defense has been brutal today, so that is always bad when you're a pitcher.

The Dark Knight
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:13 AM) Would you put the Dark Knight and Heath Ledger in the same caliber as There will be Blood and DDL? I didn't see those movies, but Dark Knight was a great movie, but not in the same boat as No Country for Old Men. That movie was truly a masterpiece, but it helps that it was a "different" movie, something you are not used to. Batman, superhereos, crime-dramas have been done so many times, although I will admit DK was as good as I have seen in the super heroes movie. I agree that is was an amazing movie, but not in the same class as NCFOM.

Official 2008-2009 NFL Thread
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) Bears starting wide outs as of right now are Lloyd and Hester (Suntimes via rotoworld). Alright then. Booker should be in there, IMO. He is still the best wide receiver we have and will catch the ball over the middle unlike Lloyd.

Really looking foward to watching Richard at work today. Nothing like watching baseball instead of doing work. I don't feel great about him, but who knows the Rangers don't hit lefties well and Richard keeps it down. When was the last time that pitcher came up and performed well? B-Mac and before that probably Buehrle. Guys who come up from the minors for the Sox usually stink, let's hope that trend reverses. I really hope that Richard creates a contreversy about keeping him in the rotation or Contreras. And Richard is from LaFayette, Ind., so I am sure he will have some family/friends at the game, which could help or hurt I suppose, but probably help and give him a bit more comfort. I would gladly take 5 inn, 2 ER or 6 inn, 3 ER, nothing spectacular, but efficient and keeps the team in the game.

Dodgers Showcasing Andy LaRoche
For LaRoche, you are probably looking at Poreda as the main chip there. LaRoche has hit in the minors, but not the majors and is not having a great year this year in the minors. If you would trade Poreda and say another solid prospect, you could have a deal. But McDougal blows and can't get AAA hitter out and Broaday is the same right now. That type of package could net you Willie Harris...maybe.

Vendor who yells?
The I've got Beer Guy looks/sounds like Harvey Fierstein, the actor, if you picture Harvey ten years ago. I love the beer guy, he is funny, always cracking jokes and stuff.

Contreras Placed on the DL
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) FWIW, Egbert would have been on the same schedule as Jose. If he somehow got a start for the ML team, I would be afraid of what you might do/react. It would be scary...

Bears going to the Super Bowl?
I would like to hear the quote verbatum. Cause if it's Harris saying "We are a good team, our defense is great and I think we can go to the Super Bowl" then it's no biggie, but it sounds stupid if he flat up said "We are going to the Super Bowl." I can't really judge the comment unless I hear it in context.

Who is the Best GM in Baseball?
I went Epstein. Terrific farm system in which he seems to use very well. 2 Championships in the last 4 years, too. Seems likeable, as well.

The Dark Knight
seeing it Sunday afternoon and very pumped up. The previews look amazing, the critics love it, so the expectations are high for me, but I am sure they will be met.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
After seeing what the Phils gave up for Blanton. I am convinced the Sox will not be able to get Duchshererer (sp?). The A's wanted a at least a couple MLB-ready or ready in a year prime prospects for Blanton and Justin is better. The sox have one maybe two of those, which will probably not be enough to get a guy with a SUB 2.00 ERA IN THE AL. Beane would need to be blown away.

Entourage
Best actors of the main five (IMO): Jerry Ferrara Kevin Dillon Jeremy Piven Kevin Connolly Adrian Grenier (the "actor" on the show has the least amount of talent, which i find hilarious) And super pumped for this season, it's been too long since we've seen a new episode.
