  1. This is kind of the reason I like this year's makeup of the field. No clear cut winner. I think it makes for the event to be all the more interesting and suspensful. Plus, there aren't real big dudes in this event, most of them are either short or just athletic. Morneau is a tall guy, but I wouldn't consider him "big." EDIT: I would actually consider Hamilton big, but he is also athletic too. I guess my point is no stiffs like McGwire, Howard, Sosa...
  2. 1. CQ's walkoff win against Angels (I was there so that helps) 2. Anderson's HR against the Cubs in the Sunday night game, gave me confidence we were gonna sweep 3. Alexei HR against the Tribe that barely sqeeks over 4. Crede Grand Slam against the Twins in early April, made us 5-2 and finally thought this might be a good year (plus I think Danman and I were watching it when it happened in a small editing class, which made it all the better) 5. PK's homer against Minnesota in the 7th inning to take the 7-5 lead in the Monday makeup game. I thought to myself "holy hell, we have a 5.5 game lead") PS great idea for a thread, I feel better already and I just realized all my moments are HRs.
  3. I am gonna miss most of it because of a softball game, but my guess is Morneau wins this thing even though he has the least amount of homers coming in. In second place, the big puma.
  4. No rotating please with Thome. Konerko at first when their is a lefty pitching. Swisher at first base when there is a righty. Anderson in CF with lefty and Wise in CF with a righty. Thome at DH for the rest of the year. We have some good plantoon options, but our players must lay down their egos for the better of the team.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) I hope Danks doesn't pitch against the Twins, he gets eaten alive by Morneau and Mauer. The amazing thing about those two are that they hit lefties tremedously well and Danks pitches better to righties, but stats aside Danks is the best we have and I want him to face the opposition's best. He struggled against Minny earlier, but Danks is a different pitcher than he was the first couple of starts.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 05:28 PM) A lot of teams blow games they should win all the time due to a bad bullpen, something we don't do hardly at all, so in that respect we have a big advantage. We played horrible on that road trip, yet we went 3-3 and saw our division lead, which was 1 game when we flew to Kansas City Monday, move to 1.5, so we are fortunate. We just need to get rested over the break and come out playing well in the 2nd half, starting with the home series against the Royals. This team is fine, with the exception of Paul Konerko. And Contreras. But you are right, we have been pretty good about blown saves, so I guess it could be much worse. I think I am just really frustrated as everyone else is.
  7. Do we beat ourselves the most in the majors or does it just appear that way since I am a Sox fan? And vice versus, do the Twins beat themselves the least amount of times in baseball? Please show me another team that does this more than us...
  8. Konerko = horrible. He blows, we are a much better all-around team with Swish at 1st and rotating Wise and Anderson in CF. Konerko's D costs us two games now in the 6 he's been back. Not to mention his bat sucks.
  9. Horrible game all-around, especially by Ozzie. Leaving Contreras in too long and then taking Massett out when he was pitching well and has been the only pitcher to stop their offense. My god, we can't hit with runners in scoring position, field apparently nor pitch. What a s***ty way to go into the all-star break.
  10. f*** this s***, I am done watching. See you guys after the all-star break.
  11. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) Masset warming, thank God. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) So, I'd like us to target a SP, but who? How did Contreras have a sub-3.00 ERA at one point? That seems like many moons ago.
  12. Wow, this game is getting even uglier.
  13. Even the outs are hit hard. Where is the urgency Ozzie and is there anyone warming up?
  14. It's not the field Hawk, Jose blows and would be getting killed right now in any field.
  15. My god the entire pen is available and Buehrle and Vaz gonna pitch, why does he still stay out?!?!?!?
  16. Get him out once again. He has nothing and this lineup is gonna f***in kill him.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) I saw Nippert a few years ago, and he was throwing 97 mph. Nippert and McCarthy are very similar, not that Brandon threw that hard ever. But they have similar repetoires, damn Uribe.
  18. Nippert former minor league teammates of Quentin and former tv star of the Show on MOJO.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 03:00 PM) Anyone else concerned that we've shut down Linebrink for the last 5 days or so? I think if there was any arm concern, it would have gotten out by now? Let's hope he is ok, cause that bridge from the 8th to 9th is huge.
  20. Big at-bat Swish, we really need a 2-run cushion.
  21. Thome in a groove. Keep it going Konerko.
  22. need to get back on the board here.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) So, if we were to grab a starter out of AAA, who do you choose? I'll leave Ohka out. Richard 6-0, 2.67 ERA, 38 IP, 25 H, 4 BB, 29 K, 0.76 WHIP Whisler 10-5, 3.46 ERA, 101 IP, 108 H, 31 BB, 49 K, 1.37 WHIP Haeger 8-7, 4.02 ERA, 123 IP, 110 H, 55 BB, 80 K, 1.34 WHIP Broadway 8-5, 4.21 ERA, 117 IP, 135 H, 30 BB, 74 K, 1.40 WHIP Egbert 3-6, 4.67 ERA, 79 IP, 74 H, 25 BB, 74 K, 1.25 WHIP Because I assume no one wants Masset. I'd go with Haeger. Richard is not gonna get major league hitters out, Egbert still battling back from injury, Broadway is gettin' lit up right now and Whisler has too poor K numbers. Unfortunately, we don't have any great options. I'd look for a trade for someone but there really aren't great options out there, just someone to give us 6 innings on regular basis and not get blown up.
  24. Over/under on runs today? I'll put the line at 25.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) I'm sure no one is up in the pen. Contreras is far and away the worst performer on our roster now. I would argue Toby Hall is too, I don't think he has done anything the past two months. But as far as everyday player types, he blows. And since we have about 8 pitchers available today, why do we let him still go out there? He is just gonna get hit again and walk hitters.
