  1. They this to the Angels too. They are just hitting on another level right now. This team is just plain good.
  2. I've never felt so pessimistic with a three run lead.
  3. Please Matt, get this game over. I just wanna guarentee first place into the all-star break.
  4. Wow. They frickin hit the ball hard. Every player in their lineup is a legit threat at the plate.
  5. Ugh. Can we just win tonight please? I hate this ballpark, the game is never over.
  6. OC is gonna be a manager one day, he just knows how to play. Lot like OZ.
  7. COME ON WOOD, CHOKE!!!
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) This thread is pretty hilarious. A guy who is a HUGE 2nd half hitter in his career, who is just coming off rehab, and was hampered by an injury and the first half... and you want to get rid of him NOW? What do we have to be positive about with Konerko? He hit AAA pitching? He's got an old body and he is going to deal with stiffness, soreness, nagging injuries and such for the rest of his career. No body is baseball is ever 100% healthy and guys like Konerko are especially prone to nagging little injuries because he is getting old and in just not athletic. Who cares what he has done in his career? He proved in April he was bad. Sorry this isn't the Konerko of the past, this is him now and he just doesn't have it. It would be one thing if he had solid bat speed and was just not right timing, but he has no bat speed at all and that doesn't just change in an instant. We are a better team offensively and defensively with current-Konerko out of the lineup.
  9. Obviously couldn't list them all, but these seem like the ten most popular...So what your favorite? Personally, i love watching the gymnastics and track and field. EDIT forgot soccer, haha. Whoops, just put other, I guess.
  10. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) The defensive switch is also a tough one to call last night as well. Lets say KC scored 2 runs anyways after the defensive switch(assuming BA in center and Swish at 1st). Then you go into the ninth down 1 and you have Thome-BA-Swisher up against Soria instead of Thome-Konerko-Swisher. Its a moot point anyways, but I can see the justification of keeping Konerko in the game at 1st. To me a good alternative move that could have been made last night would slide Swisher to left and BA in Center. I have more confidence sadly at the plate with Anderson than Konerko right now.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 11, 2008 -> 08:11 AM) There will be several people on this board who would say the exact opposite. I just don't understand a PK must go thread after a bad game. What if had hit 2 homers last night and had 4 hits? The thread wouldn't have been created. I think instant gratification has taken over the majority of this board and the majority of Sox fans. At the game on Sunday, a couple of guys sitting next to us would yell and scream if anyone made an out how they had to be released or sent down or DFA'd. Konerko is coming back after being out a while. Its going to take a while. Granted he was horrible yesterday and the dropped ball shouldn't have happened and perhaps cost the Sox the game, but history shows he will be a big contributor. I've never thought Swisher in CF was a good idea and it shows most of the time he's out there, but why is he and his .235 average such an upgrade over Konerko? I am fully confident Konerko will hit, and people will quiet down. Swisher can play 5 positions (LF, CF, RF, 1b and DH) with first base being of gold glove quality. He has athleticism and can steal a base if needed, can be used on a hit-and-run and has shown solid pop. He takes pitches and has more patience than Konerko and is a much more threat at the plate right now both power and average. Konerko is getting old and he is plays much older than listed because he is very limited athletically. He might get out of his slump, but the days of Paul Konerko as a 3-4-5 hitter are gone. He has a slow bat, doesn't go oppoiste way and has limited power right now. The fact is, Konerko didn't hit two HRs and have 4 hits last night. If he did, people may thought he was starting to get out of the slump, but he hasn't hit a real solid ball since he came back up. He is just done, I am fully confident Konerko will never be more than a .250-20-75 hitter for the rest of his career if fully healthy. Right now, he is a 0 tool player. Can't hit for average, little power, no speed, not a great arm and not a great fielder. Sure he can make the plays hit to him, but he has zero range.
  12. I was so pissed at Paulie yesterday cursing him out after that play and subsequently when the game was over. But really, you have to move Swish there and Anderson to CF even tho Paulie was going to come up the next inning. Case and point, Swish catches the ball and we probably win. I love Paulie as much as anyone for all that he has done, but he is making our offense much worse right now. I don't think there is any sign that he is ready to break out of his slump. Sure AAA was nice, but Wednesday was as bad as I've ever seen him.
  13. Largest strike zone I have ever seen in a major league baseball game.
  14. True story about Greinke from a friend who doesn't just make up stuff. He told me a friend of his was at a Barnes and Noble (or Borders, one of them) and then he saw Greinke there just alone and minding his own business. This guy is a college aged kid so right around Greinke. Apparently, Greinke out of the blue came up to the guy and just starting talking with him and saying the two should hang out after a bit of conversation. I don't know why, but I find it hilarious. Greinke seems like a bit of a loner and guy who can be rattled easily. So let's take some pitches, get some walks and wreck havok on the baseball paths. Would love to see D-Weezy in CF today with Swish at 1B and Thome at DH. sorry kong, but it's a tough righty and you blow. PS in the name of David Puddy: Jerry: So, Puddy, this is a pretty good move for you, huh? No more "grease monkey". David Puddy: I don't much care for that term. Jerry: Oh. Sorry, I didn't know... David Puddy: No, I don't know too many monkeys who could take apart a fuel injector. Jerry: I saw one once that could do sign language. David Puddy: Yeah, I saw that one. Uh... Koko. Jerry: Yeah, Koko. David Puddy: Right, Koko. That chimp's alright. High-five.
  15. Tigers scare me more, so I will take a split of the series. But I would not to see a sweep anyway, that would be bad and give a team a lot of momentum heading into the break. hopefully, they each win two playing ugly baseball.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) The Vulture is amazing Two great and opposite vulchers. Little Vulcher = Clifford Big Vulcher = Adam
  17. We have two BP pitchers in our starting rotation. My god, Javy and Jose and just brutal.
  18. Carrasco won't step on that mound unless we are getting killed or killing the opposition.
  19. NICE!!! 3.5 games with 4 in the loss column would be nice.
  20. Anyone else notice Olivo dropping the bat right in front of Swisher's path?
  21. Come on Swish. Gap job is needed. Pinch run Wise?
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2008 -> 08:30 PM) I hate those commercials with a passion. Dumb ideas, terrible video editting '05 was the best year for commercials. That Rowand and the devil one was great.
  23. If we can't get something this inning, it's over. Soria is a dominant closer.
