QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:45 PM) What was that pitch.. Jose looks terrible, can Masset go long relief today? I would venture to say everybody is available, including Buehrle and Vaz from the starters. No reason to give Jose a long leash today.

Contreras and Vaz are two of the worst pitchers I have ever seen in putting away the hitter. Whenever they get 0-2, 1-2, they nibble and let the hitters back in the count. f*** this, get Russell up.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Why, he was save. Contreras even tried to go back to the base to tag it again. He got the front corner of the base the first try, but then tried again for some reason. 99.9% sure of it, on the replay it shows.

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 02:27 PM) Lincecum RBI tripled at Wrigley today, that a boy! He is so good it isn't even funny. Although he is a huge injury risk, he might be the best pitcher in baseball right now in his first full season.

If you would have told that Jose would go through the first with only giving up one run, i think I would have been happy. We are gonna have to put up some major run totals today. I will only feel semi-secure against Texas with 10+ runs.

How much you wanna bet Todd Jones blows the one-run lead to the Twins today? However, he doesn't have to face the M&M's. He is a horrible closer, but Detroit doens't have too many other options b/c Zumaya has a high-ass WHIP.

Hawk can't read or someone gave him bad info, 3-2 DET. and Q with a blast.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:24 PM) A 4-2 road trip and than a few days off would do us good. And if the Twins lose, I would be hella happy. Plus, I would be able to relax for a few days without baseball.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 01:19 PM) Yeah, there was also a strike called that was a ball. I think we have our white Pablo. Getz makes the plays in the field too. I truly believe if he starts next year at 2b, which he should, he will hit around .300 with 10 HRs and 15-20 SBs. Plus, making all the plays in the field, good OBP and low K numbers. Kid is a gamer, plain and simple.

2008 AL Central Catch-All Thread
I swear, if Minny pulls out another 1-run victory, I will be so pissed. Right now, 2-2 in the 5th. God I hate the Twins. Supremely untalented except for a few spots, but they never suck and are never going to be in the dumps with the scouting they have and the organizational methods.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 11:05 AM) So Carlos Marmol is added to the all-star game cause K. Wood has a blister. How does a set-up man with a 4.50 ERA deserve to make the all-star game? He could the least deserving player ever. Seriously, his peripherals are good, but nearly where they were and like you said, his ERA is not even good. I hope he pitches against the AL batters because he will get lit up.

Looking forward to seeing Getz. With Getz and Bourgeois, the Sox have two very good looking utility players. I know that sounds weird and may not be something to be excited about, but they have the potential to be really really good for the Sox. With two guys like that who can play basically anywhere with speed and hit very well, you can afford some good platoon options around the field.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 13, 2008 -> 10:46 AM) Trade bait oh yeah big time. Hopefully the team we trade him to eventually saw him in the minors and somehow loved him cause the numbers don't lie he has been very good down there. But you can get the sense when he faces ML hitters, he will have no chance.

2nd-half Rotation
Vazquez IMO when on is the best pitcher the Sox have, however, we really haven't seen him be on too much this year, but he also can't really fight out there when he doesn't have his good stuff like Danks has done this year and to a certain extent Floyd. the oakland game was close with the exception of two pitches for Vaz where he was lights out. Contreras IMO also has the lowest floor.

Just what I thought about Richard, not a great prospect. He doesn't throw hard enough nor is he deceptive enough to be anything more than a 4 or 5 starter. He doesn't seem to have much in his secondary pitches.

Pleasee Detroit win today. No name lefty against us, Contreras against Texas in Texas, that is not a game in our favor and no AJ. So if anyone gets on base, they are gonna steal at will with Toby and Contreras.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
No mention of Alexei (or Swish) in Web Gems. Hopefully, it was just too late and it will make the later addition b/c that was a hell of play both ways around and ended the game.

On Baseball Tonight, Tim Kurkijan talking about how underplayed the whole Rick Ankiel story is. What bogus? Dude was on HGH with proof. That ain't a great story, that's a dude who cheated and was caught. Geez. We can accuse all we want, but he is a guy who was caught ordering the drugs. He's a cheat not a great story. Josh Hamilton is great story -- for now at least.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
I would love a 2.5 game lead into the ASG. Then against KC with Texas against Minny, we could pick up some games fast. Minny's pitching is gonna get raped by Texas' lineup.

I am going to say Swisher might not make that play either by bad positioning or bad read.
