Rotating Konerko and Thome in the 2nd half...

Featured Replies

If Ozzie sticks to his guns like he said in the Tribune on Sunday about possibly rotating Konerko and Thome at DH, what would happen? Obviously it wouldn't happen since both are the highest paid guys on the roster. But, if the Oz did it for a week could it set them straight? I can't stand to watch a game and be able to predict the future, it goes like this....

Konerko up with a runner on 1st with 1 out- Ground ball to the left side, double play

Thome up- Either a Strikeout or high high HIGH popout

If these 2 and Swisher get hot in the 2nd half, this offense can't be stopped. Its wicked without them, just image it with them

Jim Thome has already turned his season around, he's been kicking ass for about the past 6 weeks or so and especially of late (12 for his last 23 and 20 for his last 51 (.392)), not sure what more you want him to do. He's now sporting the 14th highest OPS in the American League and the 3rd highest on the Sox. (about 100 points higher than #4 Joe Crede.) Jim Thome and Paul Konerko are in completely different stratospheres right now.

Jim Thome must be in the lineup at DH everyday right now. The concerns of age catching up with him that a lot of us had look pretty silly right now. To compare perhaps our best hitter the last three weeks or month (either he or Dye) to Paul Konerko, who can't hit or field right now, is a bit silly.

Get with the freakin times. Thome is on fire.

In the middle of June Thome was batting .216 for the season. He's now up to .253. Paulie's highest was .234 which he was at the 1st week of May. He's now at .217 the lowest on the team.

Rotating the 2 of them NO, giving Paulie 2 more weeks to see if he can break his funk YES. If he can't break it, he can sit next to Juan on the bench.

Thome wasn't as bad as a lot of people thought when he wasn't going well, now that he seems to be hitting the ball a lot better you want to give him less at bats?

Konerko on waivers... pray someone takes him.

I have a small hope that the Diamondbacks would be interested in him. But with Richie Sexson available for a fraction of the price, it doesnt make all that much sense

Thome's been very good since I went to the young Mr. Thome avatar .

Konerko will be fine, just like Thome has become fine. Its hysterical how this board wants to run these 2 out of town but is in love with the offense that is Nick Swisher. Except for June, his main offensive contribution is the walk. He also hits into DPs just as often and strikes out just as often.

No rotating please with Thome. Konerko at first when their is a lefty pitching. Swisher at first base when there is a righty. Anderson in CF with lefty and Wise in CF with a righty. Thome at DH for the rest of the year. We have some good plantoon options, but our players must lay down their egos for the better of the team.

Dude, with the push Thome's had lately, he's had a pretty damn good first half. His numbers:

.253 18 HR 51 RBI .375 OBP .887 OPS.

Plus, Thome's hit lefties better than righties this year. Unless he gets cold again, I see no reason in benching him 2-3 times a week for Konerko, who might go 1-9 in that stretch.

Lol, if you compare Crede's and Thome's stats, Jim is much better...

And to think, Joe is an all-star. Sheesh.

Dudes team split OPS+ was 170 in June, that was HUGE considering the tough schedule the team had

Jim says you know what you can do if you haven't noticed the tear he's been on...

on top of all this, thome is even a speed demon over pk

It won't happen. This is so reminscent of the year he was hitting .198 at the break. He will come around.

Look at all these threads. If you just came out of a cave and logged into soxtalk.com and just looked at the threads, minus the one showing a 1.5 game lead, you would think the Sox were on a pace to lose 100+ games. This team was supposed to be bad, why don't more people want to enjoy the surprise?

I've been the biggest knocker of Thome on this site and I'd be the first to say that rotation him with Konerko right now would be stupid. Thome deserves a spot in the lineup with the way he's been playing and Paulie deserves another 15 games. At that point, if he's still stinking, Paulie can start seeing the bench relatively often.

What is this, satire? Thome has been ON FIRE the past month. He has been our best hitter over the last 3 years and in no way should he ever be in any rotation with Kong. If anything, Kong needs to start rotating with Swisher at 1B and get BA into CF 2-3 times a week.

I give Kong until the first week of August to find something, anything. If he can't get his OPS above .725 by then he should be riding the pine most of the way out. Forget any fantasies of any other team picking him up, we are stuck with him.

What a horrible idea. I agree with Dick Allen, Paulie will turn it around and Thome will be fine.

I don't know. Some of those recent wins have been really exciting.

It seems losses this year on the board have been harder for people to stomach.

Some of the road losses have been frustrating/ugly.

Lots of venom for Oz, Walker, Thome (before this streak), Paulie, Crede, Javy, Jose, Wise, BA.

Only people to escape the anger of fans after losses pretty much have been Carlos, OC, AJP, Dye, Lexi, Danks, Floyd, the middle relievers and Bobby.

So the players who have been performing at a high level and leave no reason for criticism aren't being criticized?

I do too.

I really find the overreactionists on this unbelievable at times...Paul Konerko has been a staple in the White Sox lineup for almost 10 years now, and people are willing to just give him away or beat him with a fish until his average suddenly leaps from .216 to .260 in like 2 games because of a rough half season of play...that's not going to happen.

Sit down, hitch up your pants, and f***ing relax.

I have always been a Paul Konerko supporter and will remain so. He is a leader on this team, if not the leader along with Buerhle
