White Sox @ Indians - Opening Day Game Thread
WOO HOO, go Sox. We really need to get off to a hot start. If we start poorly, we are done. If we start strong, I think we will stay in the race. Something like 10-5 or a little worse would be real nice. Against C.C., just take pitches all day long, force him to throw a lot of pitches and be patient.

Juan Uribe Celebrates Racial Equality By Eating His Weight In Ribs
Jose just made Reyes look damn stupid. I hope this is the Jose we are treated to the entire year. His fastball velocity is not where it was but he seems to have great command and a good plan of attack.

BTW, I love the bell-shaped curve we got going in the poll numbers.

2008 College Baseball Thread
QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Aaron Crow is officially not going to be available by the time the White Sox pick unless he gets some absurd signing demands. Tonight at Texas Tech: 8 IP, 0 R, 9 K, 4 BB, 2 hits. That's 33 straight scoreless innings, 17 of which came against Big 12 opponents. Crow's #s on the year: 6-0, 0.84 ERA, 43.0 innings, 28 hits, 11 BBs and 60 Ks. To put into perspective what Crow is doing, Mark Prior's final year at USC, he put up a line of this: 15-1, 1.70 ERA, 138.0 innings, 100 hits, 18 BBs and 202 Ks. AlthoughPrior edges Crow in the K/9inn, BB/9inn, Crow's ERA is better. Crow is lock for the top 2 now unless his demands are outrageous like previously said. Also, I have heard from a good source that Crow wants to go the KC or TB and also will likely not sign until the last minute with whomever he signs. Also, I think his agent is the same agent as Roger Clemens' kid and not Boras like some have mentioned.

Frank Thomas (and Todd Helton) and Joe Kennedy
Thanks for posting that, really great to see that about Frank especially helping Kennedy's widow during such a tragic time. Again, Frank proves he has a heart of gold and is just a great person.

Official How Many Games Will the Sox Win Thread
Pick a range in the poll and put your answer in a reply. We shall see who is the Soxtalk Nostradamus. I will go with 85-77, good enough for a third place finish and 11 games out of first place behind the Tigers and 8 games behind the Indians.

This Thread Is Sponsored By Prince Fielder and Gardenburger
Simple as this: MacDougal, Hall and Crede should not be on the opening day roster but the Sox feel the need to keep them. They will lose us games, Hall especially with no bat and no arm. Mac comes in and always gives us baserunners and runs and Crede pops up in the infield more than anyone else.

More Spring Games? Oh, The Horror!
QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 05:11 PM) Uhhmm...probably because he's the best third baseman on our team. I'll love how everyone just drags Crede's name through the mud a year after he hit 30HR and 90RBI's. Trade Josh Fields. This isn't 2006 anymore. Crede is clearly not the same player, watch a little ST and you'll see a s***ty baseball player. Crede will struggle to hit .250, 20 HRs and 60 RBIs this year. Fields meanwhile would hit all those numbers probably and walk more. Crede's injured back has hurt him badly. Fields is the player that gives the team a better chance to win.

More Spring Games? Oh, The Horror!
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) boy Toby Hall sucks And so does Crede? How the Sox justify keeping Crede over Fields, I will never understand. Get ready for two infield pop ups per game from him. And Hall just has no bat speed.

No. 4 mizzou swept no. 14 Baylor. Mizzou's starting pitching 25 inn, 0 ER. Crow, Gibson and Berger are like 13-0 with a combined ERA on 1.00 ish.

Trib article on Aaron Poreda
Poreda seems like a good guy and smart, too.. Howver, this is soley based of an interview on whitesox.com. At least he is a potential closer in the making, but if his secondary stuff is coming along as people are saying, he could become a top pitcher.

Brian Anderson
Problem that will show up with Brian is his streakiness. He will make the team as the backup outfielder and play once or twice a week, which will make it impossible for him to get in a groove. Some players can hit no matter how much or little they play, see Pablo Ozuna, and some need lots of PT, Brian's case. He is a better all-around player than Owens for sure, but Owens speed is going to give him the edge from Ozzie. Watch Brian get little PT and struggle and soon be back in the doghouse.

Why the love obsession with Toby Hall?
He can't a lick, his D is okay, but his arm is terrible now from the surgery. I highly doubt he can be a great game caller. I know the Sox are the leash for some $$ with him, but why should he make the team over Lucy who is superior in all aspects of D, would bring more energy, help for his developement and would probably be a better hitter. All I know is Toby Hall's days as a solid hitting catcher are gone and he won't throw out runners. Lucy >> Hall. Comments? Anyone agree? Disagree?

Woman sits on toilet for 2 years
QUOTE(Jordan4life @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) I don't buy this crap for a second. So she slept on a damn toilet for 2 years? She didn't bathe for two years? I could go on and on. yeah, there is some really weird stuff here. Didn't any of their friends wonder why they hadn't seen her in two years? There is a lot here that does not add up...

2008 College Baseball Thread
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 02:19 PM) I doubt Crowe falls, but if he did the Sox would be stupid not to pick him. He's polished with front of the rotation stuff. Fullerton got there asses handed to them yesterday by #1 Arizona after losing a mid-week affair to a top 25 San Diego team (a team that many feel will be in the top 5 when the season is done as they, along with Mizzu, have the best pitching staff in the nation). yeah, but the one thing to worry about Crow is his pitching style. It is quite herky jerky and he short arms it. Not a real big dude either, longevity could be an issue with him.

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 04:43 AM) Aaron Crow vs. Toledo (I know it's Toledo, but still look at these numbers): 9 IP, 0 R, 15 K, 0 BB, 7 hits in only 107 pitches. And he was nasty. Hitters looked lost, two hits were bunts and I believe two more were seeing eye singles. And Lee Fischer's BA is rising at a rapid pace. But, honestly, Crow is the most complete pitcher in college baseball, and I am not sure its close. He has close to the top velocity, the best command, two plus pitches (fastball/slider) and a solid change-up and a good baseball IQ.

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Sweet! IU gets to kick Illinois ass for the 3rd time this season. Yeah I can't wait. Will be a great Big 10 semifinal tomorrow. Hopefully IU doesn't kick Illinois' ass. OH WAIT...U guys didnt even beat Minny and the refs tried to give u the game. TOO BAD. ;(

Big Ten Tournament
QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 08:07 PM) Sweet! IU gets to kick Illinois ass for the 3rd time this season. I'd hardly call any of IU's win kick ass. Illinois played 'em tough both games. I think Illinois is gonna win, if IU even makes it past Minny. Ill has got momentum, they know they can play with IU and IU has been struggling recently and still have the scandal on their minds.

Official Recruiting Thread II
Stewart is an Illini fan. His cousin I believe is DJ, so thats another in. With Jerrance on board, we will not lose many Illinois recruits, especially ones south of Chicago. I say the odds are 75-ILL, 25-field, and that maybe be understating it.
