Tomorrow against Nebraska, Mizzou will have only eight players available and only six of those are scholarship players. Stefhon Hannah, Darryl Butterfield, Jason Horton, Marshall Brown and Leo Lyons are all suspended indefinitely. Great job here by our bball team.

NT beat Farragut last night and NT's McCrary dominated Mike Dunigan. Just like to point that out since McCrary's brother is a friend of mine.

Aaron Poreda
It seems Poreda is the hardest throwing lefty in the minors and I don't think there is a lefty in the majors right now that can get it up to 100 mph.

Octavio Dotel signs with Sox
QUOTE(BearSox @ Jan 19, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Aardsma is out of options... I can see Massett making the team over Wasserman just because Massett is out of options. You are right and its sad because Wasserman is clearly a better option since Massett sucks against lefties, just like Ehren. And Wasserman is far superior to Masset against righties, so it is clear who should be in the majors.

Octavio Dotel signs with Sox
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 08:34 AM) Jeeezus. 5.5 per? I like the move but that's more than I expected for a guy who's had the track record Dotel has the last few years.. They had the money to spend, so they spent it. It's better than them not spending any of it or $2 million for some s*** dude. I would rather they overpay a little for a guy who could be great than spend less for someone who could be good.

Octavio Dotel signs with Sox
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 18, 2008 -> 08:19 AM) tommy john surgery in June of 2005 dictated that Yeah, 2006 was basically a wash with his surgery and last year was his first real year, so it is expected that he would not have pitched a lot of innings. This should be his first true healthy year with a rehab free off-season, so he could be back to shape and his workhorse self this year--at least I hope.

Octavio Dotel signs with Sox
If we could bring in Bartolo now, I would think our team should be at least highly competitive this year. Our O is gonna be very good, D should be solid (although Swish worries me a little,) and the rotation should be about average and if our young guys step up could be solid and our pen should be good as well. At least the Sox will more fun to watch.

Here is the article from MLBtraderumors http://www.impactodeportivo.com.do/?op=dis...amp;format=html And translated: http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%...=en&ie=UTF8 Great signing, its only two years, so if it does not work out, no biggie. But if it does, sweet. Cl-Jenks SU-Linebrink SU-Thorton MR-Dotel MR (right specialist)-Wasserman MR (Loogy)-Logan LR-Haeger Looks good to me, just no MacDougal please.

John Shelby
QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 10:31 PM) I'll give the Sox half credit for him. They seem pretty good a developing AAA outfielders. The D'Backs took him from there to the majors. And at this point, Young ain't exactly Willie Mays. He still has a few things to prove. So, half credit for potential. Jerry Owens...yeah he has not really proven a ton, but for what he is, he does it well. If he had the at-bats of a starter, he would probably hit .260-.280 while stealing 60 bases and scoring close to 100 runs, which would make him a solid player. I am not saying the Sox are great at producing OF talent, but they are solid, as evident by the four aforementioned all-stars (I am including Young, because he will be there and stay for awhile in a year.)

John Shelby
QUOTE(danman31 @ Jan 17, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Not a big fan of Shelby personally. Hopefully you guys are right. He is a White Sox prospect, so we are probably wrong. But the one good thing is that the Sox organization, although terrible at developing talent, does seem to produce solid OFs. Maybe Shelby is the next one.

John Shelby
He is an impact bat at CF. He is one of my favorite prospects and I think he has a very bright future, probably with the Sox in CF. Once JD is done, Swisher is moved to LF or 1b, clearing the way for Shelby. He also is a smart baseball player, too.

Soxtalk Top Ten Prospect List
QUOTE(KevinM @ Jan 15, 2008 -> 01:05 AM) Jose Lopez is seriously terrible at baseball. He was doing great last year until his brother died in a accident in Venezuela. He was not able to get to his funeral and from that date, he really struggled. But, prior to his brother's death, he was an all-star.

Soxtalk Top Ten Prospect List
I think Aaron Crow will be a big possibility for the Sox, if he slips. Fits Bureau's bill of a midwestern pitcher (from Kansas, pitches at Mizzou.) He is a fast riser who went from solid draft talent to top prospect type (Sox tend to draft high risers.) I would look for Crow to be the pick, if he is available, but he might go top 5.

Soxtalk Top Ten Prospect List
Bureau: Have you heard about the possibilities for the Sox's first round pick this year? Or is it basically, the top guys in the draft? Anybody the organization has already crossed off the list for various reasons? Or too early to tell since all these guys have seasons to play?

Non-roster Invitees announced
I could easily see Bougeouise (not going to check that spelling) has a great shot to make the team. He could easily beat out Owens or Pablo. Based on his SB numbers, he is a fast man, so the speed issue should not be one. He also can play middle infield or CF, so I am sure with his athleticism, he could make a serviceable LF or RF for a game or two. My prediction: Bougeuise is on the 25-man roster to start the year.

QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Jan 7, 2008 -> 08:09 AM) I love Henson signing along with the twins. Henson was a heavy UNC lean I like his up side. Dom. Cheek seems to be pushing his commitment back from his earlier stated mid season plans, but he did say Marshall, and Strickland are pushing him hard for a Carolina commit. Sounds good for Strickland being all but in Capel Hill. QUOTE(JuiceCruz16 @ Jan 9, 2008 -> 10:15 AM) Reggie Bullock has confirmed with two sources that he will officially announce his verbal with North Carolina tonight while in Chapal Hill for tonights game. He will join Marshall in the class of 2010. Very athletic swing man who should be strong at the 2 and 3 position for the Heels. You are a NC fan, yet you fail to spell CHAPEL Hill right in both posts. Come on, LOL.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jan 5, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) the guy from WSI was spot on during the last trade the sox made, he broke the news online like 2 hours before anyone else had...i think it was teh cabrera deal, or maybe it was the quentin deal, i cant rememer which it was That may be true, but like others have said, this deal is way too heavy in the White Sox favor to be true. This is why I hate this part of the year: you get your hopes up for a mega deal like this and it never comes true. I don't believe anything or get anywhere excited until I hear it from a reputable source and even the reputable sources are wrong most the time like Levine.
