  1. QUOTE(wsxkid @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) I think BA is going to have a good year hit about 270,18 HRs,and 68RBIs.He has alot of talent and it`s time to show it. I love the optimism, but its only 9:10, you could not have downed that much liquor yet. BA is gonna be good in a couple years, but for this season he is still a .250, 10 HR, 50 RBI guy.
  2. Rocco Baldelli is the only other guy I can envision in CF. If KW can't get him for something reasonable, Brian is the guy.
  3. QUOTE(mr_genius @ Jan 6, 2007 -> 05:19 PM) .269/ 17/ 71 think Konerko will have a down year I think the only way he produces that poorly of a season is via injury. My basis is that Paulie has been a great overall hitter for 80% of his career and I think a major regression like that could only be explained with an injury.
  4. No HOF for Paul, great major league player, but certainly has not done anything spectacular in his career. I hope he ends his career in a White Sox uni as a DH. As for '07: .304/.397/.503 36 HRs 111 RBIs 1 SB 3 CS lots of GDIPs
  5. I don't get it, I know we have a lot of starting pitching depth, but starting pitchers are more valuable than relievers. Plus, Adam came into his own last year at Winston-Salem, it just doesn't make sense to me that a guy who really came into his own last year as a starter would shift to the pen.
  6. If Gio starts at AA, I think it looks like this: Gio Harrell Russell Egbert Whisler/McCulloch/Liotta Damn, that is some depth and we have guys like Liotta, McCulloch and even Clayton Richard who find themselves in high A. Our pitching depth is quite impressive, we don't really have a sure-fire #1 type pitcher, but we have a lot of potential 2-4's.
  7. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) I can't remember the last time I saw Brian even hit 92 on the gun... probably his freshman year of college when he was a reliever at Arizona
  8. QUOTE(shoota @ Jan 5, 2007 -> 02:37 PM) Could be a blessing in disguise. 140+ games with Cintron at short will explain to you how false that sentence is. When Juan is hot, he is a damn great hitter and when he is cold, he sucks. But, he is one of the three best defensive shortstops in the league and overall a better player than Cintron. BTW, Juanny looks like he slimmed down a little. If he plays this year, I expect a solid season .270, 20 HR, 70 RBIs and 10 SBs.
  9. Po-Lin-Yu or however u spell, too lazy to look it up. He is gonna be a stud (my basis is the money the Sox spent on him.)
  10. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) I've said this before but the only show I really like in Chicago is Silvy and Carmen. At times I can tolerate M, J and H but at other times they really annoy me. Every other show I hate, including B and B. Good man, Silvy and Carmen are the best. Maybe its because I can relate with their off-beat cultural ramblings, but I find them the most entertaining out of all the shows.
  11. I listen to them for the lack of anything else on, but I really dislike the two of them and much prefer any ESPN Radio programming. What do you guys think?
  12. Thought it deserved this thread being a former Sox, but if not feel free to move it. I just think its funny that he is trying to comeback. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ -Top story.
  13. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jan 4, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Honestly, I think that only AJ is untouchable on this team unless we received a package of Nathan, Liriano and Bonser-proportions, but that won't ever happen. But even then, I'd be upset about losing AJ. I don't agree that AJ is untouchable even for a fair price, but I completly agree with your reasoning. AJ is the heart of this team and gives the Sox a mental toughness that White Sox teams usually never have. To me, he is very much like Olin Kreutz, the glue that holds the team together. In a fight he is the first guy out there to help protect his teammates (even if that means getting involved in the fight). He really should be co-captains with Paulie.
  14. I think with Toby Hall as the backup, AJ will have a great year. AJ hits righites at a 300+ clip, so I think by limiting his at-bats against lefties, AJ will have a .310 average, 12 homers, 65 RBIs. He will be rested during the year plenty, so I don't expect a decline in average in the second half of the year like last year. IMO, he will be a top 10 hitter for parts of the year.
  15. "The boy, Kolton Mahoney, immediately notified his parents, who are backing up his claim." Why would he immediately notify his parents? It's not like they caught him watching it, so I believe the kid.
  16. Seinfeld, Scrubs, Grey's and Stump the Schwab.
  17. 1) I have ran two marathons in my life 2) I am a broadcast journalism student at the University of Missouri hoping to be a sports radio host 3) I plan to get an MBA after college regardless of my radio future 4) I go to Mizzou, but care much more about Illinois' sports teams 5) I watch way too much Seinfeld and literally can quote entire episodes
  18. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Dec 27, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) With all the "Who will be the #5 Starter talk", HBT has great timing and posted an article about the average ERA for starting pitchers here: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/...your-4-starter/ Here is the average breakdown by league and starter: Lg #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 MLB 3.60 4.14 4.58 5.10 6.24 AL 3.70 4.24 4.58 5.09 6.22 NL 3.51 4.04 4.57 5.11 6.26 SOX 4.28 4.52 4.54 4.85 4.99 It is interesting to see that the average #5 starter in the majors had a 6.24 ERA, and the average #4 starter had a 5.10 ERA. The Sox, Tigers, and Padres were the only teams with a #5 starter with an ERA under 5.00. However, only Texas and KC had a worse #1 starter than the Sox in the AL, and the Sox #1 and #2 were both worse than the league averages. From these numbers it looks like the Sox can plug a guy like Haeger into the #5 slot pretty easily. I would not say easily because of how poor our top two starters are in terms of league averages. If our one and two pitch like this, we need our five to certainly pitch like a number three, numbers wise. I am not sure Haeger can post a 4.58 ERA this year in the bigs, but I think he would have better numbers than Danks or Floyd.
  19. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 20, 2006 -> 12:16 PM) No doubt I'd be pissed, but at the player and not the coach. And to me it's really hard to be angry with an 18 year old kid for a prolonged period of time. Kids change their minds all of the time. EJ will have to hear enough when he visits Champaign next season. My prediction is it will be nothing short of ugly based on comments I have read from Illini fans on other message boards online. I just don't blame KS for coming in and doing everything he can to start getting kids from Indiana to come to IU. He missed out on Moore, Hummel, Martin and Johnson and the Gordon recruitment was important for stopping the long line of kids who are leaving the state (Oden, Conley, James, McRoberts, Courtney Lee to name a few). It will probably be the start of a reversal of fortune for IU keeping in-state talent. Until they realize how bad of a coach Sampson actually is, 0 NBA players.
  20. Why risk losing all the progress he made as a reliever? He was dominant in the second half of the season and will probably be even better this year. He is only a two-pitch pitcher (arguably only a one-pitch pitcher,) so its not a good assumption to think he would be good as a starter against MLB hitters. IMO, he would be disastrous as a starter.
  21. Rogers is as big a White Sox supporter as there is out there, but he does hit the nail on the head in this article. Sox have a smarter approach than the Cubs.
  22. I would love to sign Shannon Stewart now. I think he would come cheap, maybe a one-year deal with an option. Even though he has some past injury problems, we have Sweeney ready in AAA to fill in just in case. I think Pods can work as a 4th outfielder being able to play all three spot, albeit not very well. But a good hitter like Stewart would off-set Brian Anderson's hitting abilities.
  23. yeah sounds like a minor league free agent or adding someone to the 40 (do we have room?)
  24. I hope Jim Callis does the draft. He has always stated he would do it and knows the draft as well as anyone.
