Sisco and Aardsma Complete Bullpen
I can live with Aarsma since he pitched well down the stretch, but there is no reason for Logan to be left off instead of Sisco who s*** his pants the last week or so. Our organization is looking so stupid with some of its recent moves and antics.

Sabathia leaves game with injury
I never wish upon injuries on anyone, but it would nice not to face him opening day since he basically dominates us every time. First Lee, now Sabathia, Indians are sure not having good luck to start the year. We now may see Prancer leading off opening day.

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 01:58 PM) No, a freak injury (how often does a 1B tear something diving?) lost us an integral part of the team. And he's had more than 2 AB's as a 1B this spring so far, so it seems Ozzie was considering him as a backup plan there. Finding out if he could be useful there is the sort of thing you are supposed to do in ST. I'm as pissed as anyone else he is hurt, but blaming Ozzie just doesn't make any sense. We got like 4 deep b4 Hall at 1st base. Paulie, Mack, Perez, Ozuna. I dont know why Toby ever would have needed to play 1st base.

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season
What about Matt LeCroy? seriously, he can hit lefties very well and its not like our pitchers hold runners on anyways, so they were inevitabley gonna steal. Actually, i am being semi-sarcastic, cause he really can't catch.

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season
How about Pablo, he is the third string catcher? Can hit lefties, not sold on the arm though

BUMPED::::::Toby Hall Possibly out for the season
yeah unfortunately, Sandy will be on this team in a few days.

Haeger to AAA
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) So It looks like Floyd to the 'pen. i still think Floyd goes to AAA, he still has an option right? The pen is gonna look like this: Jenks, Thorton, Mac, Massett, Logan and Sisco, yeah 3 lefties, but they are pitching better than the righties.

My 1 Week of Fame
Hey, wow, apparently i was out of the loop for awhile and did not see that. That was a really good idea, it would be cool to get something like a rivals/scout baseball site with urs. Really cool and good idea, good luck with it.

Danks wins White Sox fifth starter's job
No doubt he pitched the best, so he deserves it. I like how he is a fighter and will pitch in the strike zone. He's got good enough stuff where when he pitches in the zone, he won't get lit up. I think Danks will be a top-rookie of the year candidate. As the fifth starter, he should be going up against other teams s*** starters and I like Danks' chances to have a 4.5 ish ERA or maybe lower and with our offense, being in the fifth spot, 14 wins is not out of the question.

Boone Logan: Mr. March? + Bullpen thoughts
10.0 innings, no runs given up, 4 hits, 2 walks, 7 k's. Well is he gonna become a fixture this year or is going to be annointed Mr. March? I really think this is the year he finds it, I mean his stuff is good and his delivery is deceptive, so he's got a lot going for him and might not be just a LOOGY. Bullpen this year: Cl- Jenks (but clearly on a short leash now) SU- Thorton (pretty stong spring) SU- MacDougal (stuff is there evident by good k numbers in ST) MR-Logan (he deserves it) MR-Sisco (yeah three lefties, but lefty/righty you gotta go with the best pitchers and Sisco is good now) LR-Massett (he's got a power arm and a power curve, former starter can go multiple innings and most importantly KW loves him, so he gets the last spot) Left Out: Aardsma: terrible spring, needs to start in AAA Russell: solid spring, great stuff, but needs a little more grooming IMO, should be kept a starter, too Floyd: assuming Danks is the fifth starter, Floyd should be in AAA starting and getting a better grasp on his stuff, not fit for relief and certainly no better than Massett or Logan right now) Day: yes, Dewon Day, not many people know of him, but he has got a sick slider and getting better at commanding his mid 90's fastball, could start the year in AAA and be in Chicago sooner or later. Watch out, he is gonna turn some heads. Haeger: Too inconsistent with the knucker this spring, part of it could be thin air, needs to go to AAA to prove it was just a thin air thing, should put solid numbers up starting in AAA and will be called up first for a spot start. Your guys thoughts?

Sox make 7 roster moves
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Fifth starter was decided a long time ago, IMO. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 02:04 PM) If Russell, Haegar, Danks, and Floyd are all still around, nothing has been decided. They wouldn't want all of the extra guys around competing for innings if this were a done deal. That would be completely counter productive to all of them. I think all he means is that Floyd was/is going to be given the benefit of the doubt, unless he sucked major, which he hasn't. The way KW pepped up Floyd and said even when he gave up a lot of runs that he is on track, makes me believe Floyd was had a 80% winning the 5th starter spot.

Nick Masset
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 12:46 AM) How was the velocity? I read that he can get it up there as high as 98. From the parts of the game I saw, he looked mostly to be in the low 90's, but so has Jenks and we all know how hard he throws in the regular season, so I would expect him to be in the high 90's in a couple of weeks. But from all the scouting reports I have seen, he reaches the high 90's with ease.

MLB 2K7
QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) MVP 05 is the best baseball game ever made. I highly recommend downloading it for the PC and going to mvpmods.com and modding the s*** out of it... way better and more accurate than any game you can buy currently. (there's something about seeing the cell with the retired faces on the wall accurately depicted, as well as any face you can imagine (including john danks)... i love it. Where can you download it? And I assume its just for windows, not macs?

3/16/06 Sox Vs Cubs 3:05 CT
Even though many on this board, including myself, hate prancer, we can all agree that when he is on his game and stealing bases, this team is so much better.

The West Bracket (San Jose)
If Southern Illinois and Illinois play, it might be the lowest scoring game in NCAA Tournament history. If Illinois can beat Va. Tech, which I can see happening, I would like their chances over Southern. Bruce recruited their two best players, so he knows them very well. Either way, it would be a great matchup for the two schools.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 09:42 AM) http://www.indystar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...439/1004/SPORTS Watched the last 4 minutes earlier (someone uploaded it), all I can say is amazing. This guy could be next year's Durant. He's that good. Unfortunately, he is not gonna be. Durant is more talented the Gordon is and 6-10. Gordon will be a stud, top 10 NBA pick probably, but he won't score more than 18 ppg as a freshman (which is still damn good.) He will find it much harder to score in the Big 10, so don't expect huge numbers. Gordon is another in a great line of combo guards to come into the NCAA, but Durant is a once in a lifetime player. Gordon, simply is not.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) haha just what illanoy fans want to hear. The future is bright at IU, not so much in champaign. Not true, Bruce Weber is a fine coach and is starting to get his recruiting in order. The rankings don't tell you everything as Quinton Watkins and Tisdale are three-stars, but they are definately gonna be good Big 10 players. McCamey is gonna be the true PG stud in the mold of Deron Williams. Illinois might be better next year with the added offensive weapons of a true PG (McCamey,) a true slasher/shooter (Watkins,) and two good shooting bigs (Tisdale and Semrau) to matchup with Pruitt who is the beast down low. I don't expect a dip in defense next year, but the offensive should be better even though freshman will counted on heavily.

Sox vs. Oakland, March 10, 2:05 (SS)
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) You think we could have gotten a better prospect then Vasquez from the cubs? Aardsma is pretty good, I dunno how much more we could have gotten. IMO, Aarsma = Cotts (Aarsma better, but Cotts lefty,) so Vasquez was a cherry on top.

Sox vs. Rox, March 10th 2007, 2:05 CST (SS)
QUOTE(bkmoney @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 02:57 PM) thome reaches on error. hall hits a bloop? something single 2 on no outs thome just got caught stealing at 3rd... ball got away from catcher just not enough eduardo perez hits a 2 run HR 4-1 sox yeah Eduardo Perez better make this team. He can flat out hit, especially lefties. With C.C., Lee, Sowers, Robertson, Rogers, soon Andrew Miller, Johan, he is gonna be a hell of a commodity for our bench.

Name your Surprise Move
QUOTE(beck72 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 09:33 AM) Has Fields played much LF this spring? I haven't noticed. Not in a game, but I would imagine that he has taken some fly balls. His bat is ready and I really don't want Anderson is there if he is gonna suck it up again.
-
Name your Surprise Move
Danks as the #5 and Josh Fields starts the year in the majors. Anderson is not hitting again and Fields can play LF, I am confident of that, but that means Erstad would be in center field, which would make our outfield D horrible. It will be interesting.

March 9th: White Sox vs. Arizona
Danks, like I have said before, is our number one option for the fifth spot. I don't care how old he is, where he has pitched before, but he attacks the strike zone and doesn't walk batters. His attitude and baseball IQ are second to none and his stuff has been very good as well. If the season started today (which I know it doesnt) he should be our #5. There is a reason Gavin Floyd had a 7+ ERA (or something like that) in the NL last year, he just isn't very good. Danks has the right mind set where if he struggles, he comes right back and fights again like nothing happened.

Draft Plans/Needs?
QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 09:12 PM) I think Baseball America compared him to Alfonso Soriano... or was it rotoworld? Anyway, if he becomes half the player soriano is... It was Phil Rogers and he didnt compare him to Soriano rather saying they have similar backgrounds and the fact that they were both raw coming to the states.
