Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 8, 2007 -> 01:13 PM) The fact that a recruit named a final THIRTEEN makes me feel even sicker about the recruiting process than I normally do. Also, the new Rivals 150 is out for the class of 2008. Fresh new SIU verbal Kevin Dillard comes in at #148. #4, #22, #45, #112, and #114 are Ohio State verbals, Michigan State, Indiana, and Wisconsin have two #100's each. Of Illinois interest, DeAndre Liggins is a 5 star at #18, Darius Miller at #29, Iman Shumpert at #41, Michael Dunigan at #59, John Brandenburg at #63, Scott Suggs at #72, Josh Crittle at #95, Verdell Jones at #102 (although he's going to KU it appears), Paul Williams at #127, and Lewis Jackson at #139. I HOPE with as many guys with Illinois on their list as their is, this will be a really good class. I think it will be. Liggins, Shumpert, Suggs, and Brandenburg are my 4 favorites personally. If we just took all guards and/or wings in 2008 I'd be happy though, we have plenty of bigs. Also Trey Thompkins who Weber is recruiting hard (he is 13th I think) and Terrence Jennings who is #9, has a top 3 with Illinois, Cal and Arizona. So lots of Illinois guys up there, I think this is the banner class the BW has wanted. Plus, '09 is stacked and the top two '09 players are from the Champaign area and '10 already has Richmond who is a top 5 player nationally. Things finally starting to look up for a true good guy in college basketball.

5/6 Games
QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 6, 2007 -> 04:40 PM) Charlotte loses 4-3 http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...94&sid=t494 Anderson 2-5, HR You could argue that it is from the competition, but look what happens when you get consistent at-bats. The way our hitters are going, he should still be in the majors starting in left or center with Erstad the other positon.

White Sox vs. Angels, 5/6/07 (W)
I will not be happy unless its a win. Most likely we will give back the lead next inning.

Justin Gaitlin Trying out for Buccaneers
Jason Capel, former Bear draft pick from Florida, I think, was a track star and Olympic qualifier who played football and he wasn't able to do the football thing. I dunno how he stopped playing football: own will or suckage, but he didn't last long. Gatlin may have track speed straight away, but cutting and keeping momentum and dodging NFL players while doing so is a completely different ballgame.

5/2 Games
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 3, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) I wonder if there's any chance he could be ready for the show next season instead of 09. he may be, but I would not rush him. We get screwed everytime with rushing players let him keep going at thsi pace and be ready for the show in '09.

General Reaction to Tall People
At 6'5" your just tall, but on the same token there are people who are short, too. I just think, hey that guys pretty tall and think nothing more about. But at school when I see 6'5" guys who are big (athletically big) I think I bet he is an O-lineman.
-
How tall are you/how old are you?
5'9" and 19. I am little guy, I guess. Soxtalk either has lots of liars or a pretty good starting 5 for bball and some good height off the bench.

Post Your Questions for Gio Gonzalez and Jack Egbert!
Gio: When you were traded from the White Sox, did Kenny ever give you an indication you would be back with the club? Everybody knows about your curve, but what can you tell us about your fastball in terms of velocity and movement? Jack: What is your outpitch? What has been the reason for tremendous success in the minors without prototypical "great" stuff?

4/27 Games
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 28, 2007 -> 03:24 AM) I doubted Gio but he's won me over. The one thing I worry about with Gio is kind of like Danks. Gio has an amazing curveball and a fastball that is suppose to creep up to 94 MPH. I have seen stuff this year saying he has pitched around there, but for some reason when pitchers come up to the majors they lose 3-4 MPH on their fastball ala Danks, Arnie Munoz did and even Danny Wright to some extent where he was supposed to be high 90's and all I saw was mid 90's. But you gotta love Gio numbers, they are just plain sick.

Recruiting Thread
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Apr 27, 2007 -> 09:29 AM) I think having Jordan will be good for the PR of Illinois. And add to the fact that MJ will be walking around the campus to watch his son, other players (i.e. recruits down the road) will want to play with Jeff for the sole purpose of possibly meeting MJ. This obviously wouldn't be the only reason a recruit would chose Illinois, but it sure helps.

Rogowski removed from 40 man
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 26, 2007 -> 11:46 AM) Yeah it does. There's just not much value in 1Bman with no power. But he's got gap power

Bad swing by Anderson, but can you blame him when he starts once every blue moon.
