  1. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 14, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaab/news?slug=co...n&type=lgns 3rd post-season college basketball tournament. Interesting. Those not familar with the Gazelle group(http://www.gazellegroup.com/cvcclassic/), those are the people who run the CvC and CBE along with a few other preseason tournies. I'm iffy on this, but I guess it's good for the game for more schools to have a place to play in March. Plus, I always wanted to know who the 98th best school was in the nation.
  2. Kevin Jones is expected to announce his college decision at 2:30 PM. I haven't heard anything to tip off where he'll be at, but Indiana, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Rutgers, St. John’s, and Massachusetts are all in the mix.
  3. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 10:46 PM) Beat Kansas. And Purdue.
  4. Really weird looking SI cover for the Big Ten region this week... I don't know how they worked that out, but DJ's contorted hardcore.
  5. QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) I hope so. I wasn't that lucky, I was stuck in the second to last row of the balcony. Who would you put in the starting 5, greasy? I'll be sitting section K, row 1 and 2 all year. I like your starting five as well, but I'm going to substitute Crawford for Ellis for the time being still. It's early, and I want to give a fair crack at keeping his spot in the starting lineup. ---------- I've got to add this: Chattanooga coach John Shulman summed it up like this: “It’s hard to come in and play at a place like this, especially on Eric Gordon freshman night. They should have given out posters. I would have gotten mine signed.”
  6. QUOTE(farmteam @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) We gave them way too many open shots, and we couldn't rebound to save our lives. I'd say those two factors were both the key reasons why we allowed them to put up 50 in the first half. Other game notes: Lance Stemler is bad. Really, just bad. Jamarcus Ellis is rather unimpressive -- so far Crawford has been much better. D.J. got hurt near the end, but he was back on the bench by the end of the game. Eric Gordon is good. Very good. 1 or 2 of his fouls were complete ticky tack calls (anyone want to tell me how you can foul someone when your back is to them?). This team makes way too many turnovers by forcing a bad pass. And, as mentioned above, the rebounding deficiency hurts as well. Twice (early in the first half and towards the end of the second half) IU went with a 4-guard set. I know Ellis is considered a G/F, but come on, he's only 6-5. Anyway, they stuck Gordon, Crawford, Basset, and Ellis with White, and they didn't do horribly. Eli Holman and Brandon McGee didn't get until the end of the game, which was disappointing, especially because they could have taken some of Stemler's minutes. In addition, it seems Sampson is favoring a White/Thomas/Stemler rotation, with two of them usually playing (though rarely Stemler and Thomas are together). DeAndre looked pretty good, but he looked a little wild at times. There were a few occasions where he put too much on it and missed a point blank shot. However, he also looked good at times and played some solid defense. If I had to pick the starting five I'd do: Basset Gordon Crawford Thomas White Off the bench: Ellis Holman Stemler McGee Overall, we definitely need to work on rebounding and not turning the ball over, as well as defense as whole. Don't worry about Stemler; he'll be sitting in no time, if he keeps this up. And oh yeah, Danny Granger was sitting right next to me.
  7. Yeah, Eric Gordon. He's kind of good. The best part about EJ is that he's easily our best defender right now as well. Nobody was worried about the first half. Our defense wasn't playing that well, but the Mocs got hot from deep early, and everything they threw up went in. In the second half, we gave them the inside and locked down anything out the paint--and their numbers definitely came back down to earth. That's the only disconcerting thing about this game, the defense and the rebounding. Our offense is going to be scary all season; too many guys have to be cold for it to be bad. However, I'm positive our defense is going to get better as the season goes on, Sampson won't allow them to be a one-sided team.
  8. I really have to wonder if a new stadium is going to do anything for that franchise. Florida doesn't seem to care too much that they have baseball. The Marlins couldn't draw, even with their WS teams.
  9. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 12, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) cool, thanks. i was unaware he was ineligible for the first semester. Probably the reason the rumor had any kind of smoke. I liked AJ a lot, though he hasn't really lived up to Mr. Basketball potential. However, I have a hard time seeing him getting much PT with the personnel we have, when he can't come back into the lineup until after first semester's over.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) Problem is the ref can't call what he can't see. He was blocked off and missed a clear INT. That being said, Clutch Vinatieri had a chance to put his team up from 29 yards and didn't. Pick 6 for Peyton tonight. Manning doubled his INT total on the season tonight.
  11. Don't mess with Steve Irwin ever again.
  12. I'm loving where this season's going.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) Are you still planning on coming down here for the IU game? Let me know for sure so I can keep a look out for tickets. Greasy what about you? I want to, I need to talk to you on AIM about this.
  14. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) And Greasy how bout those Pacers 3-0. Loving it; they're watchable again!--I don't expect us to be in the top of the East or anything, but this coaching change is apparently going to do us a lot of good.
  15. Well, IU is bowl eligible for the first time since 1994--probably need one more to be safe though.
  16. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2007 -> 12:31 AM) I remember starting a poll about whether anyone would rather have a WNBA championship in their home town, or 5 bucks. The money won in a landslide. I remember that being in a Sports Guy column testing the validity of the sport.
