  1. Good points.....I wish these would be questions on the ESPN Sportsnation poll....I'd like to see the way he's perceived after that.
  2. I'd believe they'd be in a bordering country of Iraq, but we'll have to wait and see.

  8. Sportscenter just mentioned a little blip about this happening during their minute of baseball. This is a blip from the Trib..... They got him pretty cheap, I guess he wasn't getting any offers. That offer was 'disrespectful' when it was from the Sox....
  9. I finally found something...sorry it took a bit.... Arizona close to signing veteran second baseman By BOB BAUM .c The Associated Press PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Diamondbacks are close to signing 12-time All-Star second baseman Roberto Alomar, a team source said Monday night. The source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said a deal could come as soon as Tuesday. Alomar, 35, has been working out in the Phoenix area for several weeks. Signing Alomar would cement an infield that includes Shea Hillenbrand at third, newly acquired Richie Sexson at first and Alex Cintron at shortstop. The addition of Alomar would free Matt Kata - a rookie last season - to move into the utility role previously occupied by Craig Counsell, because Kata can play second, shortstop or third. Alomar, entering his 17th big-league season, became a free agent when the Chicago White Sox declined to offer him arbitration. Alomar had a disappointing stint with the New York Mets before being traded to Chicago on July 1. Alomar earned $8 million in the final year of his contract last season, but reportedly was willing to take less from the financially strapped Diamondbacks, despite more lucrative offers elsewhere. After two sub-par seasons, he would come to Arizona motivated to return to the form that he showed through most of a career that could land him in the Hall of Fame. Alomar came to New York in an eight-player trade with Cleveland after batting .336 with 20 home runs and 100 RBIs for the Indians in 2001. A 10-time Gold Glove winner, he hit just .266 in 2002, matching a career-low he set in his rookie season in 1988. Alomar was batting just .262 when the trade to Chicago was made, and batted .253 for the White Sox. Alomar began his major league career in San Diego, then played for Toronto, Baltimore, Cleveland, the Mets and the White Sox. He would be the second significant acquisition by the Diamondbacks, who earlier sent Counsell, Junior Spivey and four other players to Milwaukee for Sexson on Dec. 1.
  10. I understand the NY radio station has reported the deal that he's signing w/ AZ....I'll post anything official if I find it.
  11. Wow, are you seeing what the fans are doing? I do feel bad for Providence in this situation. I honestly couldn't tell you if I would count that basket or not....The zebras had a tough call on that one.
  12. LOL s***...I didn't mean to quote yours....I apologize.
  13. I like that one.... After reading the posts, and seeing what he's said...I have to back from what I said earlier. Pete Rose is simply a jackass....He's lied to us since day 1, and now he finally fesses up and expects us to forgive him before he ever apologizes.... Pete Rose... :fyou
  14. Former LHP Tug McGraw dead at 59 SportsTicker PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Tug McGraw, the fiery reliever who won world championships with the 1969 New York Mets and 1980 Philadelphia Phillies, died Monday. He was 59. One of the most beloved players in the history of both organizations, McGraw had been battling brain cancer. One of his last public appearances came September 28 at Veterans Stadium, where he helped celebrate the closing of the ballpark and received an emotional ovation from Phillies' fans. McGraw, the father of country music star Tim McGraw, had a 96-92 record with 180 saves and a 3.14 ERA during a 19-year career. He retired after the 1984 season and is best known for his heart-pounding relief appearances and coining the phrase, "Ya gotta believe" during the Mets' 1973 pennant run.
  15. Agreed, agreed, and AGREED! But hey, the family has a nice park named after them!
  16. I'm sure this has been said before on these boards, but I seriously think Ozzie could turn Willie into a Juan Pierre type player for the Sox.
  17. Those new Padres unis are....well....interesting.... I can't remember if it's the road or home unis, but they have some "sand" colored jerseys as opposed to gray or white....
  18. Ah I apologize about that....I honestly didn't read any of the posts before I wrote that in......I'll give you all my profits for making that statement!
  19. Today was a nice way to get back into the swing of things. We had a 2 hour delay....So it was kind of nice getting to sleep in a little bit before the first day back.
