QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:44 PM) Sookie or Snooki? I'd watch Man-Soo Lee streaking if it meant going over .500 for once this season. Snookie might be an appropriate candidate for slump-busting. I did, however, mean Sookie. . . I appreciate her natural curves. Kinda looking forward to seeing the big red-headed vampire getting naked sometime soon.
-
I think Marnie from True Blood has cast a spell against the White Sox, prohibiting them from breaching the .500 mark. (Sorry I was flipping back and forth.) I love it when Sookie gets naked.

De Aza? Ready?

We need Lucky Pierre right now.
-
Brent Morel will take it.

I really hope I don't have to watch Bacon swing again. I've had enough for tonight. End it here BM. Take a big b.m. all over durbin.

QUOTE (chiguy79 @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 11:32 PM) In the park homer to end this one...why not... I'm not convinced we can score a run without the help of the Indians defense.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) I think there are still FA's out there that can replace both of our Guards. I think there are cones out there than can replace both of our Guards for that matter. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 13, 2011 -> 10:02 PM) Yuck. Morel looked like me on that pitch.

Chicago Bears Roster of Suck Starting Playing Surface: The Grass at Soldier Field Notable Highlights: Consistently voted worst playing surface in the league. Management refuses to replace it with field turf. Caused team to cancel Family night in 2011. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 03:42 PM) With Adam Dunn and Alex Rios and Gordon Beckham and Brent Morel putting up OPS numbers in the .600's, yeah, that's a rotation capable of winning 72-78 games...I think they certainly could do better, but they are young. We need some offense from the guys we currently have. We've already blown our money on that offense. If it doesn't perform, then we're SOL either way...we don't have the money to blow on a pitching staff upgrade from this season. Yes, yes, and yes. I don't see how this team competes unless the names mentioned (sans Morel) produce at a level they have in the past. If Dunn and Rios continue their historic awfulness, this team will struggle. JR is not Hank Steinbrenner and we can't cover up our FA mistakes like the Yankees can. I was optimistic this year, and unless the Twins/Tigers/Indians significantly improve in the offseason I will be optimistic going into next season. I mean, Dunn is going to change his offseason work out plan. . . that should fix everything.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) Enis did average 3.3 yards per carry in those years. Chester Taylor was at 2.4 in his lone year with the Bears. Oh, and Ced Bens was drafted 4th overall and, even though he was statistically better (and has been good with Cincinnati), he fumbled in the superbowl, fumbled the next season and got worse, and then got arrested like twice in the same month, forcing the Bears to release him from a hefty rookie contract. Given that drafting Cedric Benson meant trading Thomas Jones a year later. . . . adds a level of misery to his legacy. Still, I think Benson was still better than Enis. Full disclosure: I still own and, for ironic purposes, wear a Curtis Enis jersey every now and again (I wore it to training camp last year). I actually remember Enis playing pretty decently in his first few games as a rookie. However, given the length of his bizarre holdout (I seem to recall that it involved some religious advisor) he was out of shape and couldn't handle a full load of carries. I think he tore his ACL shortly into the season and that ended his year. Then after Wanne was fired Jauron had Enis bulk up and attempt to play FB, which was a silly and horrible idea. I don't think he ever played for another team. I think Benson was bad and think Salaam was a joke after his rookie year (where he still fumbled 9 times) . . . but Enis is probably the starting RB on the Roster of Suck. -

After mentioning Juaquin Iglesias earlier, I thought it might be fun to put together a Bears depth chart of suck. Try and pick out the worst players the Bears have drafted and/or signed onto one team. I don't think this roster should include guys like Rex who were bad (at times) but had some level of success while on the roster. Rather, this should be dedicated to the truly miserable, the "WTF is going on out there" types. If this doesn't go anywhere, so be it . . . but I'll start: The Chicago Bears' All-Time Roster of Suck QB: Jonathan Quinn Notable Career Numbers as a Bear: 0-3-0 Record as a Starter, 52% completion pct, 4.2 YPA, 1 TD, 3 INT, 15 Sacks for 109 YLost. I know the popular sentiment might be to go with Todd Collins, but I have never seen a player look as overmatched, scared, bewildered, and all-around pathetic than JQ after Rex blew out an achilles in Minnesota. I really never saw an NFL level throw from Quinn. Thanks Terry Shea. I remember Quinn having one size-able passing gain against Tampa Bay. It was a screen pass to Thomas Jones (obviously couldn't have been downfield) who took the pass about 80 yards for a touchdown. . . only to be called back for a holding penalty on David Terrell, who was holding a CB on the other side of the field. I think Todd Collins is definitely on the depth chart of suck, and Henry Burris (maybe unfair) is probably the emergency QB. NEXT: Running Backs -- Who ya got? -

Hayden to Visit the Bears I like the sound of this. I hope we sign him to a reasonable deal. Jennings/Bowman scare me. Don't think we can have too many veteran talented CBs, especially in a division with Megatron, Greg Jennings, Driver, Devin Aromashadou and Juaquin Iglesias. -

I am a big fan of the Barber signing. He has the chance to be a real weapon in this offense. He can fill the void Taylor and others were supposed to have filled for the past few years. Barber will most likely stay healthy with less carries and exposure as well. -

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) I thought Olin's play had really went downhill last 2 years I have no problem he is gone. This, and everything else that Balta said. Are we really so worried about losing Kreutz's leadership? I loved Olin, but seriously . . . that whole heart and soul stuff is a bunch of bulls***. I think Olin was a 34 year old center who played his age last year. The line was bad, and his play was a big reason why. I can't imagine the line failing again solely because Olin's absence. Moreover, I think Jay needs to take a step forward and become a leader on this team. With Kreutz on the team, Jay would never have the chance to become the leader of the offense. This is Jay's time to step up and prove himself or prove his critics right. I am only upset that were not bringing in more OL. I think there is still a lot of room to improve this line before the season starts. -
Here is something I really like to see . . . . Bacon saw 18 pitches in 4 at-bats. I think he is getting locked in.
-
Frolik needs to add some muscle. I've never seen a guy get consistently manhandled as he was last year. He seemingly got lit up every game. He got back up every time though, I have to give him that. I like the signing, I think he could really grow into a nice role here.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) Noah was a monster until his thumb injury. When he came back, his timing was off and he was afraid to shoot his Tornado, which he was actually making before the injury. This is a really accurate assessment of Noah's entire season. Monster before the thumb, that 13-15 foot push(won't call it a shot) was actually falling in fairly-consistently (cue someone with stats proving the contrary). After the thumb, he never regained his comfort level with his offensive game and reverted to the Noah we saw the year before. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) Pretty sad he could never stay healthy. He showed flashes of being a top 5 caliber player. But, he made an ungodly amount of money, so good for him. I bet he goes back to China and plays there for the duration. He can probably just stand, clog the lane, or shoot standing outside shots. Won't have to worry as much about getting back on defense against lesser-athleticism (using a stereotype I know). Unfortunately, a lot of the ungodly tall players' (muresan, bol, yao) bodies don't seem to hold up very long. It seems, superficially at least, that their feet and other lower extremities can't handle a prolonged period of stress. (again being very general). Yao was pretty fun to watch sometimes and the NBA owes him a great deal for helping globalize the league.
