  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 02:20 PM) Id take an underwhelming offer for Cutler. As long as we don't need to give up draft picks to get rid of him, I'd be OK with that.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) Because they will be paying him $10 million a year to decline on a rebuilding team. Why is that a strategy? Plus: he has the potential to be a big distraction, pollute the culture they're trying to change, and they can give an opportunity to a younger player who may contribute when this team is ready to contend (someday, hopefully). I get the move.
  3. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) Not sure if he cares that this is out there but Aaron posts on this site as SoCalSox. Good get for him. He's been on it all offseason. Did not know that, he's been a MUST follow this offseason. Good work Aaron!
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) Great move by Pace/Fox. PaceFox, the Bears answer to GarPax. I like it. Seriously though, I'm taking this as a sign that the Bears are moving in the right direction with competent people at the helm. Very encouraging.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 5, 2015 -> 11:11 AM) I just dont know if they can get anything for him when teams can easily take the cheaper option and pick up a impact WR in the draft. Its been done a whole lot lately. Or just wait til the Bears release him. They have no leverage. Agree. I can only see two situations where the Bears could trade him: 1) they take back a similar contract/player 2) the team is like JAX, STL, OAK and wouldn't be able to convince him to sign there in FA. I don't see either scenario being likely.
  6. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 12:47 PM) Friedell almost indicated that this might very well have been the case. Basically pulls are putting all of the public pressure on Rose. That said, it would appear Forman indicating Rose will aggressively rehab this would have been vetted by Rose but I think this is the Bulls getting totally out in front of this and saying, Rose, this is what the doctors say, this is what we are publishing. If you want to do otherwise, you will no longer be protected by us. General belief that we'll hear from Rose in the next few days as well. It's possible that Derrick might actually have learned something from his first two rehabs stints. He might actually realize that no level of conservatism in his play will totally protect him from future injury. It's possible, but with Derrick's "circle," it's unlikely.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2015 -> 12:25 PM) I wonder if the Bulls publishing this timeline is a shot at Rose's camp to try to pre-emptively stop him taking forever to come back. I thought the same thing. They have set Derrick up to either return on during the normal recovery window or face a healthy dose of public shaming.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:31 AM) The piece I don't understand is how is Rose's injury a nail in Thibbs tenure? What did Tom do to drive or lead to this injury. The Bulls and Rose couldn't have been more conservative with Rose (since his initial injury) and this is what has happened. How can a finger for any of these more recent injuries be put in Thibbs direction? Rose isn't playing heavy minutes. In fact, he's largely been babied since his first injury. I'd argue he might have been better off had they pushed things more (look at Westbrook). I'm not saying it SHOULD be the end of Thibs tenure, I just think it will be the end of his time with the Bulls. I think the discord between Gar/Pax and Thibs has been palpable the entire season. I think they would've fired him even if Derrick didn't get hurt and the team petered out in the second round. They don't want to work with him anymore. They can't control him.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 11:21 AM) By the way...I do think Rose comes back this year and this injury doesn't end his career. I do think this injury means the Bulls officially pass the torch to Butler to be their star, which is good. It should take a lot of pressure off Rose and in the off-season we can add a PG and give Rose more minutes at the 2 spot. Agree, this injury isn't significant enough to end Derrick's career. However, I don't think we're going to see Derrick play at the levels we're hoping could/would. I think this will be the final nail in Thibs tenure as HC. I don't think Derrick will be on the roster after his contract expires. I think the Bulls will be mired in mediocrity for the foreseeable future. I think lots of things.
  10. Good hire. Jason is a fun listen. Feel bad for Matty though, always a bridesmaid.
  11. Interesting. . . I read this as a sign that Jason might be the guy, playing coy.
  12. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 11:33 AM) Its going to be at least interesting with consistent improvement instead of constant embarrassment. It will be fun for sure to see how this team evolves. Exactly. It's going to be fun to watch how this roster evolves under this new administration. Might have a season next year like the Vikings had this year. See some flashes of "hmmmm this could get could" mixed with "I think I'd rather watch RedZone today."
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 11:26 AM) Presume with Fangio coming on board, it means we will not be spending money on Paea. Can't imagine he's a fit in a 3-4. This team might not look great next year (or the year after for that matter) but I'm insanely excited about where the organization is headed after the last 3 hires.
  14. AWESOME! This is why you hire John Fox, he has the ability to build a great staff.
  15. Vic Fangio meeting with the Bears today. . , sign me up. Please. Actually, sign him up. I'm already signed up.
  16. Take FWIW. This guy called the Pace hiring a day before anyone else. Love the hire.
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 12:33 PM) They do it on purpose. Sometimes it's funny when you get someone really crazy calling in, but 90% of the time it's annoying. Lawrence Holmes almost never gets calls like that. In general I hate when shows take phone calls. I would rather listen to the host talk about something or talk with people like Matt Bowen. Agree. More Bowen, Biggs, and Hub. Less Bob from Skokie.
  18. Loved them. Read them 2/3 times a week.
  19. QUOTE (newguy @ Jul 29, 2014 -> 09:03 AM) Hello everybody. I am Brad's father. I will try to keep the emotion out of the discussion since I am obviously biased. I am only responding to this to provide some additional information. I certainly appreciate all of your positive comments & I hope Brad continues to improve & perform. Regarding the "velocity" concern. I was actually very happy to hear about all the movement of his offspeed pitches. I wonder if the person who wrote that was at the game? Anyway, regardling velocity, Brad typically sits around the 90-91 range, but on a few occasions this year, both at Great Falls & Kannapolis, he has been able to top out at 94. As you stated, more velocity will come as he continues to re-learn how to pitch. He hasn't pitched since his junior year of high school in 2009 & has only been a "pitcher" for about a year now. It was about this time last season at Great Falls that he actually got to pitch in games. Hope that info helps. Welcome Brad's father! Any insight as to why he wears #1? Just a carry over from when he was a SS?
  20. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 23, 2014 -> 02:02 PM) was he "juuuuuuuuuuuuust underneath it" as well? is he still going to be the "best player on this team?"
