  1. Desperation......they need starting pitching. IMO their offense is already pretty good.
  2. It's an unfortunate situation.... but I mean.. It's silly to trade away more talent to get a guy like Jeff Suppan... who before the season started could have been had for 500,000 (much like Loz) Danny has shown he can be good.... gotta have faith in him that he can give you 5 or 6 innings and keep us in the game.
  3. I hope he gets it together.... spent alot of time rotting in the minors. to you Mr. Almonte.
  4. This is Kyle Snyder.... not the pudgy pitcher who teased us all with that awesome start a couple of years ago..... but hey...jon Synder got us Jose and Cal Eldred for that 2000 campaign so he wasnt all bad.
  5. D'angelo is a solid hitter, has decent speed, and when he's not having a mental meltdown......he's an average player. Lenny Harris is the league's biggest bum btw. That being said.....I hope Robbie Alomar retires in the Silver and Black.....with some Jewelery to go along with him.
  6. July 30th Sox WIN Royals LOSE Twins WIN Royals 0 GB (1st) SOX 2 GB (2nd) Twins 5.5 (3rd)
  7. I wouldn't be against Kenny finding us a full-time closer.
  8. This is a good thing because guillen was rumored to be going to the Royals. Good for those overachieving f***s.....
  9. How's Yofu been doin lately Rex.....have they converted him to a Fulltime starter. p.s. why dont u see Munoz as a closer.......JW
  10. Kerry Wood's HS coach is a prime example of the coach ur speaking of.
  11. Gotta like Coop......if the sox fall apart and Jerry is canned. I hope the new manager allows coop to stay on as P-C
  12. Hate to say it Murcie, but you off on Stumm on two accounts... First, he was a 1st round pick in 1999 (15th overall) Second, he has been outstanding at Winston-Salem this year. They have been very cautious with him and he has only pitched two full innings twice. He has only had one bad outing (his most recent) and he has only given up runs in four of his 17 outings. He gave up 5 runs in his last outing, taking his ERA from 1.89 to 4.12. This is another situation where looking into a player's numbers can give you a different outlook than just by looking at the numbers alone. The Sox are being very careful to protect their investment with him. I have heard reports that he is the real deal and the only question about him is whether he can stay healthy. It is not out of the question the Sox make him a starter again, after a complete healthy season. Yes, Stumm has had setbacks early on, but the door is far from closed with him. Yeah LDF pointed out him being a 1st rounder....... earlier. And eventhough his ERA has been inflated by 1 bad outing.... I still dont see him becoming a starter again....he has shown that even with a small load of work... he gets injured. I think he can be a solid reliever... but starting just doesnt seem possible to me.
  13. Im not in favor of trading crede.......but i will say this. I'd like to see him batting .250 by the end of the year, he's to good not to.
  14. I think if this team makes the post season......there is no reason not to believe that they cant win it all. LOZ, Mark, and Bart are a nasty three-headed dragon to face, combine that will Garland and this new and improved offense and they can almost be unbeatable. before we win it all.... lets focus on winning the lamest division in baseball.....(although the A.L. Central is getting stronger) I said IF we can find a way to make the playoffs..... sheesh!
  15. The only way i can see trading Joe Crede is if they Get Aaron Boone in return. But thats only because I really like Aaron Boone. Joe is becoming a very very solid fielder and has put up some nice power lately. He will straigthen things out so lets not worry.

  17. he is overworked and needed a place to pitch. i think it is a shoo in that munoz is going to make it, it is a question of time. You make a great point about him getting overworked. he pitched a good 100 innings between Birmingham's season....Postseason and winter ball. They were actually talking about making him a starter this year...... Me thinks his arm is a little to weak to do so. Gotta like his Zito-esque curve though.... closer next year????
  18. I pray to god that Reed Honel and Cotts all bypass AAA......Charlotte is the place where all good prospects go to die. I just hope Arnie Munoz gets his act together.....cause he's shud be a deadly pitcher for the sox.
  19. Well it's good to know that Kris is still well thought of around here. I think he was just kind of put on the back burner especially with all of these other prospects doing so well......and the possibility of those prospects leaving. Good to see Sweeney is back playing again tonight.....got a hit.
  20. I think it's scary when you look at the depth the whitesox have in RP in the minors.... I mean we dealt like 6 Minor League Relievers so far...... and were still strong in that spot. I like this Yofu guy as well..... I want him to be our Kaz sasaki.
  21. maybe people are looking for a ray of light in getting taken to the clearance by billy beane. btw jas how can you say that kw is going to be a great gm??????????? are you drunk LDF here are of some of Stumm's numbers this year. Just thought you might be interested if you already didn't know them. 1-0 4.12 ERA 19.2 IP 22 H 19 K 10 BB's But ya gotta keep in mind.....he had surgery before the season started, the year b4 that as well. Just an FYI thought you'd be interested.
  22. Well......stole my thunder....nothing more to say IMO
  23. cotts is the closest to the majors out of the 2. if they were in the same area of development, i will bet there would be an argument on who should be brought up. honel is going to be, imho better than cotts if he doesn't get hurt again. there is another pitcher i am looking at and that is jason strumm. Stumm is a walking band-aid unfortunately...... but he has pitched this year (pretty avg) outta the pen and thats a good sign. He was a 2nd rd pick I believe and now is atbest a good canidate for a future closer. (Arm has been beatin up)
  24. maybe......but I think for the large part of the year..... Cotts has been in the spotlight (deservingly so) here at Soxtalk. I just wanted to remind everyone of how well he was doin.
