QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) i've been only really watching hockey for two years, so my knowledge is fairly limited, but i'm so impressed with Hossa patience....his presence of mind on the ice is remarkable...the gap between he and Havlat is bigger than I realized this offseason...Havlat seemed more of an opportunist, who benefited from being around guys like kane sharp and toews, but Hossa looks like the type of player who just makes everyone around him better. Marian Hossa is a better Hockey player than Marty Havlat, but make no mistake, they are both world class offensive talents. The biggest difference between Hossa and Havlat is that Hossa is far superior defensively and can create offensive by creating turnovers, an dimension of his game that marty's lacks.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 01:20 PM) The Aroma thing that made Lovie look bad was that they saw all of this in practice?????? Huh....why is he behind Bennet and Hester than? Why? Hester is starting because they couldn't be happy with keeping the NFL's greatest KR a KR. They had to get too smart for their own good and change him into a WR, to prove they are smarter than everyone else. Hester is a gadget player on offense with the upside of being the greatest KR the league had ever seen. Now he is overpaid and out of place. I'm not sure there was anyone in the league besides the dummies at Halas Hall who actually thought he was a number 1 receiver. He is at best a slot receiver and I think I'd rather have Knox in that position. Bennett is starting because he was last year's third round draft pick, who couldn't scratch the field last year because he was unable to learn the plays. Now they have to prove that he wasn't a wasted pick so he must start above DA. ARGH!!! f***ing Bears!

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 11:35 AM) He wasn't in the vicinity because Jay was expecting Knox to come back. I think Jay should have probably taken the sack, but at the same time, the reason that ball was directly to Collins was because Knox kept slipped and kept running a bit as opposed to coming back on the ball which is what Jay expected given that you are taught to come back when a QB is pressured. Jay should have thrown the ball away. Knox probably did run the wrong route, but even if he didn't slip it still would have been a pick. Even if Knox was supposed to sit in that zone, he didn't and Jay threw the ball anyway. It wasn't a quick slant, Cutler eyed down Knox and threw the ball despite the fact that the route was wasn't there. I love Jay, and I think were still closer to winning a SB this year than last... but I cannot make excuses for bad decision making. There was no play to be made, and it ended up costing the team the lead.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 11:06 PM) Wow... Yah. I kinda saw it coming, but still yah, wow.
-
Wow. If you didn't see Hossa's goal at the end of the second, find the clip it was an exhibition of athletic ability. He caught the puck out of mid air, dropped it, and batted it in before it hit the ground. Wow.
-
Marion Hossa, have mercy... what a pass!!!!

Hawks had about 2 minutes of 5-3 and got about 1 good scoring chance. Needless to say the PP looks a little lost out there. I'm not sure why Bubba was on the point for the PP, he has a hard shot but not an accurate shot. I would have rather seen him in front of Niittymaki. Oh well were still up 1-0

Sweet little wrister by Kane, all set up by Keith intercepting a cross ice pass and dishing it to the right guy. Great play all around.
-
Belushi drops the first puck... kiss of death. Seriously, we couldn't find a better representative for Second City? What about Stephen Colbert... that would have been more fun and far less annoying.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 05:57 PM) Billick was saying during the game that you just dont know if that is on Cutler or if it is on Knox for running the incorrect route in that situation. We wont ever know unless they come out and say it, but it doesnt matter it goes on Cutlers record Understood. Still, I can't imagine any situation where Knox would have been able to make a play on that ball. He was already behind Collins and the pass was thrown on a line in Knox's direction, so it wasn't as if he was trying to lift the ball over the head of Collins. Even if Knox ran the wrong route, he wasn't in any position to catch the ball. Jay only looked to Knox on that play and should have seen Collins sitting on that route. The bottom line is that Jay has to throw that ball away. I'd really like to see the Bears bring in a teacher for Cutler who can get through to him and help him max out on his potential.

QUOTE (ozzfest @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) another bears loss, not even upset, i expect this I'm still very much behind Jay Cutler, having said that (sorry larry david) I cannot defend that second interception. He eyeballed Knox the entire time, and there was absolutely no reason to throw the ball in that situation, it wasn't even a good defensive play. . . Jay threw the ball directly to Collins and Knox wasn't even in the vicinity. I believe that Jay has the ability to be one of the best quarterbacks in the league. . . but he is far from a finished product and may have been a little spoiled in Denver with that offensive line and those receivers. He needs to stop making the kind of decisions that cost the team points and victories. In addition to firing Ron Turner, I hope they fire Pep Hamilton as well. I don't know what role he plays as the QB coach, but he has failed to develop any player under his tutelage and I'd like to have someone spend time with Jay who can get into his head a little bit more. What a disappointing season.

I don't know how anyone could not like Mark Buehrle, he seems like the genuine article. Good for him. -
Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread
MurcieOne replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Ben got a nice little ovation once he entered the game. The pistons are without Prince, Rip, and Villenueva tonight. Should be a win, the line-up the pistons have out there is pretty sad (not that ours is much better). -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 11:11 PM) I don't think he was taunting the Hawks bench. I think he was b****ing at his own guys to get a damn goal for him. I heard on Versus that he took heat from the coach after letting in 3-for-3 the last time he was in a shootout, so I think he was gesturing as if to say "I'm making the saves, score a god-damned goal". If you noticed, he didn't acknowledge his teammates patting him on the back after his temper tantrum by the bench. I think he was pissed at them for not getting him the win. You may be correct, the announcers seemed to think he was barking at the Hawks bench... but it seems more likely he was yelping at his own team. Mason is 0-4 in shootouts and has struggled for the better part of the year (not nearly as impressive as his ROY campaign) he may have just been getting some frustration off his chest.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) I was giddy when Hossa sniped that wrister past Mason in the shootout. I look forward to watching these guys play together. That wrister was beyond sick. I was an absolute bullet! I don't think that there is a goalie alive who would have made that save, it was a world-class play made by a world-class player. It is so much fun to believe(and justifiably so) that your team may win the Stanley Cup. This is what RedWings fans must have felt like for the past 15 years or Avalanche Fans during the Sakic, Forsberg, Roy era. Enjoy this Hawks fans, we've been through the s*** and it is finally our time.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) God Damn was Huet amazing in that shootout. Too bad it took 11 rounds for a defenseman to end it. Nothing better than seeing Mason lose it afterwards after he kept taunting the Hawks bench when he would make a save. If you go 9/11 as a goalie in a shootout you can talk a little trash. Especially when Ladd loses the f***ing puck in the corner before crossing the blueline. I actually think the BlueJackets outplayed us in this game, they were more physical team. Despite giving up a softie, Huet was the difference in this game. Wow, feels weird to say that, my Huet hate is softening for the time being.

WTF Ladd.

Did anyone actually see Hossa's shot go in? I didn't, and neither did Mason. Come on Kaner win it here.

My god Nash is so talented, dude is an absolute beast.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) Sure, he is funny. Anyways, now is the time for that talent of the Hawks to come to the front. Win this game in regulation, and don't give Columbus a point. bad time to take a penalty... that was f***ing dive.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 1, 2009 -> 08:41 PM) Versteeg is so good. Agreed, I'm actually surprised that he hasn't been a little better than he has this season. For whatever reason he seems to get lost from time to time. Vince Vaughn is the new Jim Belushi. At least he is an upgrade.
