Huet wins the period for us, this is by far the best/most confident he has been since throwing on the indian head.

Without Franzen, CBJ are the second best team in the Central. I like their team and I think they will be able to make themselves better at the deadline.

Steeger just made my jaw drop... looked like a double toe drag there, lol amazing!!!!

Dunno if anyone mentioned the rumors swirling around the coaching staff. A) Mike Martz coming in after the end of the season to be OC. (more likely of the two). B) The Brass at Halas Hall looking into Shannahan, Gruden, Cowher (which the Bears deny). Personally, I think it's a horrible idea to try and force 1 year of Mike Martz in here in hopes that he can help save Lovie's job. It just seems like an accident waiting to happen and another wasted year of Cutler's career. I wish the Bears would just bite the Bullet and bring in one of the aforementioned coaches to right this ship. Fire Angelo and Lovie and bring in some true talent evaluators to rebuild the franchise. It would be expensive -- paying off Lovie and Angelo -- but if you hire Shannahan or Gruden you get them for the pro-rated version of whatever was left on their previous contracts. You would have to assume that Shannahan would like to be reunited with his pupil... right?

This is easily the most anticipated game of the season for me. The game doesn't start for 12 hours, but all I can think about is Kane-Toews-Hossa. That my friend, is the stuff that dreams are made of.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 09:34 AM) I know what you're saying, Murcie, but I'd rather they deal a few "lesser pieces" for picks and keep Sharp if at all possible. Sharp gives them good secondary scoring depth and serves as quality insurance in case of injuries to the "top guys". I just think it's easier to replace guys like Sopel, Byfuglien, or even Barker and Versteeg with prospects than a proven NHL scorer like Sharp. Oh absolutely, I completely agree with you. I think Sharp helps a team like the Hawks win a Cup. Sharp shows up in big games and I think he is one of the leaders on this team. I would trade Steeger, Sopel, Byfuglien, over Sharp any day (maybe not Barker). If you can swing a trade for one of those guys first you do it, however, at the end of the day you do what you gotta do to keep Keith, Kane and Toews.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 24, 2009 -> 10:39 PM) I keep hearing that it is more Mcdonough inquiring because Sharp (and Versteeg) was one of Tallon's prized acquisitions and the fact that they both didn't like each other (in order for Mcdonough/Bowman to more or less put their "acquired" guys on the ice) though I'm not sure if that is correct. I'm not sure that makes much sense. I think McDonough and Bowman are trying to win a Cup and they feel that they have a better chance to conistently play for the Cup with Kane, Toews, and Keith on the team rather than letting one of them go so they can keep Versteeg, Sharp or Barker. This is sound theory because they are keeping the three superior players and choosing to let some of the bit-players go. I love Sharp, but I'd rather have Hossa, Kane, Toews or Keith. Campbell or Huet on the otherhand . . .

Gonzales handled the interview appropriately, logically, and correctly, he basically reitereated everything Jason and others have said in this thread. Mark Gonzales = Journalist, Joe Cowley = Sensationalist.

FWIW, I've known Jason and Mario since Soxnet.net's infancy and I can say with some substance that theytake this endeavor very seriously, and would never post something they "imagined" in their basement. They are both too talented and honest to fabricate a rumor and the only thing that separates either of them and Joe Cowleotti is a press pass. It is a shame that Cowleotti decided to attack Soxnet without really investigating the author of the story or the entitiy he created. If Cowleotti had taken the time to read this board or anything else that Jason has created he would have discovered that this is no "in my parents basement" type of operation. I genuinely believe there is some great baseball discussion on this board and some great baseball analysis via Soxnet and Futuresox. Anyone who vehemently disagrees probably doesn't visit the site.

Chris Chambers would have made more sense. But I assume KC claimed him before we had a shot, and I have doubts that the Bears had any interest to begin with.

Jay Cutler > Kyle Orton If Cutler was on this Broncos team they would probably be 6-2 but I would actually believe that they had a chance to win a playoff game. I don't.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Ok, just need a field goal. Definitely possible, although I don't trust Crosby. Nvm. Any chance that Rodgers was feeling the post-favre-week pressure to perform today?

Didn't Lovie Smith say this team was "close" after the end of last year?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Best game of the year but Cutler was still hit and hurried a ton. True, but to be fair. . . the game dictated passing on every down basically. He was hit and hurried but if they had played as bad as they had a few games ago. . . Cutler might be hospitalized.
-
Cardinals tripled their season rushing average today.
-
170+ yards rushing to the worst rushing team in Football. only silver lining today . . . Olsen got going and the Line played its best game of the year.
-
Mike Shanahan in Chicago. . . wouldn't that be nice?
-
Lovie Smith didn't throw a challenge flag... why?
-
Muscles is calling a bad game today. . . McFadden didnt play the ball and caught Knox on the head before the ball got there.
-
Jay Cutler is a franchise QB... the bears are still closer to winning a super this year than they were last year.
-
Bears O-Line giving Cutler time today = 123.3 rating

I have a bad feeling about today's cutler press conference. I think he might flip-the-f*** out today. I don't blame him, but I'd rather the press focus on how bad Lovie Smith and Angelo are rather than any controversial comments made by Cutler.

I love the Bronx cheer.

Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo make Jim Zorn and Matt Millen look like Vince Lombardi and Bill Walsh.
