  1. With Martz and Marinelli in place, I wonder what it would take to get Millen to become head of player development. I kid I kid, I actually like the hire. I love Jay, but I think he may be the kinda guy who needs someone to ride his ass every once in awhile. The question (as Mike aptly pointed out earlier in this thread) is whether or not Jay will be receptive to Martz's tactics. I think if Jay comes into this situation with an open mind he will be a pro bowler next year, and not a David Garrard style pro bowler - an actual pro bowler.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2010 -> 08:19 AM) But...what happens if he doesn't find him as much, and then Amare starts feeling down and neglected and pouts and so forth. It's not like we haven't seen it from him some already. From what I've seen of Amare's game, he's not very good at creating his own shot. He get shots by getting the ball after the offense has already broken down the defense and gotten his man out of position. Add in his poor defense, and until proven otherwise, I don't think you can design a system to make him look better than the one in Phoenix. Take him out of that system...and I think you've taken away so many of the things that made him an all-star. I'm not completely sold on the idea that Amare can't work in Chicago with D-Rose, but you've made some valid points and I tend to agree with your analysis.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 31, 2010 -> 02:23 PM) Just for perspective, Beasley was considered to be the better player and we needed a PF and had a good PG. It was the rarity of PG's like Rose that made them take Rose. We have a PG like that now, so it'd be foolish to take him unless you can trade him for a star. Not sure that is true. I think Rose was considered the better player but since we had a PG and needed a PF some people argued we should have drafted for need.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) I lean towards yes on Warner's HOF credentials. In my opinion, Kurt Warner should be a LOCK for the HOF. I know that he had talent around him and had some s***ty years in the middle of his career, but the guy could absolutely light up defenses. I don't remember the actual number but I think he threw for over 300 yards in nearly half of the games he played in, that is completely ridiculous. Again, this is just my opinion... but Warner had a great career and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) I dont mind that deal, but Huet is the wildcard here. Who really wants to take him at this point? He'd be a seriously expensive backup for a contender and a money pit for a rebuilding team. Carey Price is a wildcard too. . . he is bascially in his second full season and his not lived up to the billing. I love the idea of acquiring Price if this team was still developing, but we're on a collision course with the finals right now and I'm not sure if Price is even an upgrade over what we already have. Price may just need a change of scenery, but I wouldn't want to gamble our Cup aspirations on that.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jan 29, 2010 -> 02:48 PM) Tell Ben that if he was cool, he'd drive in the storm... Ditto. Commit to the Indian dude.
  7. Did anyone else notice that Byfuglien did the madden "gun show" pose after he scored his goal in the 1st period? If that was his intent, pretty funny stuff.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 01:56 PM) That's what DVR is for... that and the skills competition will be worth speeding through to see how D-Rose performs. Let's hope D-Rose goes Patrick Kane in Dallas and hogties some Junior Ms. HonkyTonks.
  9. It's all over the web now... we can discuss this in the light of day. D-Rose is the first Bull selected to the all-star game since Michael Jordan. I am, however, still unlikely to watch the game.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) Bulls are on a nice roll. 4 game win streak ON THE ROAD?! (not to mention against over .500 teams) Very nice. 22-22 now. Best west coast road trip since the Jordan era?
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) You see that throw that Brett Favre just made? There are only about 40 other guys who can make that throw, Pat, and Brett is one of those guys. Zombie Summerall: "BRAAAAAINS!"
  12. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) You have to figure that John Madden would come out of retirement just to announce that one game. Madden and Zombie Pat Summerall for one night only!
  13. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Well, looks like the need a PG. Hinrich is available! Do we know if WSH is going to be able to void Arenas's 80 million dollar contract? I heard that they can only do so if he serves jail time during the season.
  14. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 03:24 PM) He can play in the UFL then. Dude could you imagine the spectacle that would be Thursday Night Football on VersusHD when Favre and his Florida Tuskers teams visits Mike McMahon and the California Redwoods? Were talking 2001 Thanksgiving Day re-match, big time ratings.
  15. QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 12:37 PM) Too bad they didn't run into any hot girls Quality. As Admin Emeritus I hereby nominate this post for post of the month. I also second said nomination because I suffer from split personality disorder. Motion granted.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 11:10 AM) Wade isn't leaving Miami. I don't think any of the 2010 Superstars are going to leave their teams, except for maybe Joe Johnson.
  17. uh-oh f***ing Cannucks. Link to Story: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/...-road-trip.html
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:46 AM) A good offensive mind will see the 8TD's Cutler threw. Not many OC's can get a job where you have a potential franchise QB to call the shots for. That makes the job enticing, regardless of the HC situation. You hit the nail on the head Jason. Coaches are literally beating down the doors to come coach the offense here for 1 season. This OC job is the equivalent of Sofia Vergara wearing nothing but Heels and Honey.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 10:16 PM) Hm. The Bulls are playing some really good basketball, and we're seeing the evolution of Derrick Rose's shooting game. The evolution of DR1's shooting game is the difference between Rose becoming a perennial all-star or becoming just "a guy." Suffice to say, Rose is playing the best basketball of his young career. He is taking over games and bettering good competition.
  20. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) They won't on a side not: McDanials really is a moron. Nolan and that defense were the reasons why the Broncos went 8-8. McDaniels will not finish his contract.
  21. Mike Nolan might be leaving Denver. I hope that Angelo/Lovie gives him a call.
  22. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 06:38 AM) Boston Red Sox rotation: 1. John Lackey - 2009 on DL made only 27 starts for only 176 inniings. 2008 on DL made only 24 starts for 163 inniings. 2. Josh Becket - 2008 on DL had ERA of 4.03. 2006 on DL had ERA over 5. 3. Dice K - on DL most of the yeas last year. Had ERA of 5.76 4. Jon Lester - had cancer a few years ago. 5. Tim Wakefield - older than dirt, nade only 21 starts last year with an ERA in the high 4's. 6. Clay Bucholz or Michael Bowden - neither has ever pitched a full season and both had ERA's in the 4's last year. Now that I use your reasoning I realize that Boston will probably finish in last place this year. awesome.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 14, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) The Giants defense was worse than the Bears though and if push came to shove it certainly sounded like he favored the Bears. FWIW The Giants D was ranked 13th in the NFL and the Bears D was ranked 17th. Regardless, I'd take the talent on the Giants D over the talent on the Bears D right now (although it is pretty puzzling that they were as bad as they were last year).
