I don't believe that last year was a contract drive, I think Marty wants to be a great player every year. However, you can't overlook the fact that in his 8 year career he has only played 80+ games once, and only played 70+ games three times. Furthermore, the three years previous to this season he missed significant time. I love Marty and think he is truly a gifted hockey player, but he's not deserving of that kind of money.
