  1. Ozzie Newsome makes a great pick and nabs Oher at 23 for the cost of a 5th.
  2. Harvin -- to Minnesota 1. Can he stay healthy? 2. Can he stay clean? 3. Can he be consistent? if yes to all 3 then the rest of the NFC north is going to have a lot of fun trying to catch him.
  3. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) 5-11 and a forty in the 4.6 range. I assume Browns will take Beanie Wells at 21. Williams ran 4.47-40 according to draftcountdown.com
  4. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 04:42 PM) Not necessarily the Lions, someone else could have tried to jump as well so when your guy is in your grasp you make the move. good point.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 04:39 PM) Reports on the score indicate that the Bears want Derrick Williams @ 49. 5-11 WR? Yikes, I'd like to see a little size.
  6. I think Maclin will be the best receiver in this draft. Fast, scored high on the wunderlich, elusive... I'm pissed he went to the E-Gals. Why did they have to trade up for this pick? Would the lions really have taken him at 20? yeesh that would have been ugly.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) *sigh* Why won't Davis just die already? worked for the blackhawks
  8. Shaun Hill has that cagey Jake Delhomme quality about him... Crabtree gets to join a great tradition of WRs.
  9. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 03:37 PM) Now they just need a QB. You mean Shaun Hill isn't a franchise QB?
  10. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) If Crabtree doesn't get picked as a Jaguar my Packers could possibly get Crabtree Not that they need him but how sick would a WR corp of Jennings, Driver, Jones, Crabtree and Nelsen be. I would love for the Packers to select Crabtree... perfect way to waste a pick. It's interesting to see how the Jags couldn't find a suitor for Crabtree at 8... they were really looking to trade down and couldn't find a trade partner for him... maybe because the Pack are unlikely to select him they were asking for too much?
  11. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) If the Bears can get Boldin for a second and Hester... they better do it like RIGHT NOW!! the bears would lose his bloated salary too... i don't know how much money was given to him as a signing bonus, but if they could get rid of guaranteed money, and give it to Boldin -- it might make sense. Still... we'd still only have 1 receiver I dunno, and trading Hester seems odd to me for some reason.
  12. Al Davis continues to prove that he is not capable of running a team. Heyward Bey? Really? The speed is there, but watch Crabtree play... my goodness that's a poor pick in my opinion.
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) Wow, Jets didn't give up much. Just a 2nd rounder. Thats a steal. + 3 players I don't know much about... they really must not have wanted to pay top 5 money.
  14. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) I'm on the Nicks bandwagon as well. Head he put on weight though. Brian Robiskie FTW!!! I like Nicks, but I like Robiskie's size and background just a little bit more. However, Robiskie probably won't be there at 49.
  15. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 01:43 AM) I understand what you are trying to say, but for what its worth Boldin was a 2nd round draft pick himself. T. Calico -- no idea who this is Taylor Jacobs -- out of the NFL? Bethel Johnson -- out of the nfl? Keary Colbert - ? Darius Watts -- out of the NFL? Devry Henderson -- inconsistent 2/3 receiver for NO Vincent Jackson -- a beast for Rivers in SD Terrence Murphy --? Roscoe Parrish -- KR/PR Mark Bradley -- couldn't develop him Reggie Brown Greg Jennings -- awesome Sinorice Moss C. Jackson Dwayne Jarrett Sidney Rice Dexter Jackson Limas Sweed Malcolm Kelly -- Jerome Simpson -- ? James Hardy -- ? Eddie Royal -- 5-10 behind Brandon Marshall Donnie Avery -- 5-11 speedster This is a list of the 25 WRs drafted in the 2nd round since Anquan Boldin was drafted in 2003. Besides Greg Jennings and Vincent Jackson -- 0 pro bowls combined -- who on this list would you qualify as a number 1 receiver? I can't find one. Donnie Avery looked good at times, Eddie Royal was great as a rookie but they are both undersized and are probably 2nd options at best. This isn't to say that the Bears couldn't find a good option in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and so on (berrian was a 3rd rounder) but Boldin is the real deal and they don't have to develop him to find out if he can be a number 1 option. He was a number one option in 2003 (B.F. before Fitzgerald) with Jeff Blake and Josh McCown throwing passes to him. If the deal is Boldin for a 2nd round pick -- I make the deal
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 25, 2009 -> 12:53 AM) I agree with all this. And I'm one that totally recognizes (and I probably overvalue them) how precious draft picks are in the NFL. But with Cutler aboard now, our priorities have changed considerably. If we can get a weapon like Boldin, who's only 28 and should have another 3-5 solid years left in him, you do it. Generally, I understand the notion that you don't trade picks for players. If the Bears were offering a 2nd or 3rd Rd pick for Donald Driver, I would jump on the "don't do it bandwagon." However, when a guy like Boldin becomes available you have to re-consider that philosophy given the context. (Presumably) the Bears would be trading 1/2 picks or a player off their roster for a proven PRO BOWL receiver. If you're going to tell me that you'd rather take a chance that maybe the 6th or 7th receiver taken in the draft will turn out to be better than Boldin... than I simply do not see where you are coming from. There is a marked difference between what the Redskins have tried (Champ Bailey and a 2nd for Clinton Portis WTF?... signing Deion, Bruce Smith, Jason Taylor past their primes) and what the Bears could do -- add a 25 y/o franchise QB and potentially a 28 y/o x3 pro bowl WR at the cost of 5-6 draft picks. Yes. The Bears will have to find ways to supplement their roster outside of the draft, but the level of talent they would add to the roster would be too good to pass up. If Boldin can be had for 2nd and (Vasher, Corey Graham, Harrison, Anderson, or non-core player) than you do it.
  17. QUOTE (T R U @ Apr 24, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) You shouldn't wish Its beyond dumb to give away all your draft picks for players. Its even sillier to think that works. You build your team through the draft, not trading picks. It hasn't worked out for Washington, it wont work out here either. I doubt the Bears are in those talks anyways. And seeing that its going to take 3-4 hours to get to pick #25.. it could feel like an eternity before you get to see the Bears do something. If the bears could get Boldin for the 49th overall pick... they have to do it. I agree that you build a team through the draft... but who would you rather have at 49? Hakeem Nicks or Anquan Boldin? Massaqoui? Robiskie? Iglesias? or Boldin? I understand that Washington has tried and failed at that approach, but i think they went about it all the wrong way. I still think that when a an all-pro caliber player (in his prime) becomes available you have to give it serious thought. If the Cards will take the 49th overall for Boldin... lock it in and watch the Bears light up the NFC. **** Note -- I still think the Cards will get more than a 2nd for Boldin but you still gotta kick the tires and see if a deal could get done.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Well I know they're doing season 2 but I only linked his account because he had a lot of funny tweets. Some examples: Earth Day? I couldn't give two s***s. I'm here every f***ing day. Drove some blonde b**** all the way to Claire's yesterday, only to f***ing find out they don't do taint piercings anymore. You know when you have to take a s*** real bad and you hold it in and then it sometimes goes away? What the f***ing f*** is that about? Time to get ready for the f***ing Easter egg hunt in this chick's vagina. We're using 'mouth only rules' this year. "More cushin' for the pushin" is bulls***. The b**** is fat as f***. You got needs and she's got the vag. Don't make excuses for your dick. Ladies, if you've got it, please trim the ass hair. It's like holding a f***ing chimp when we're boning it up. ( {} )☜
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 22, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) anyone get as jacked about the draft every year as me? Cuz right now, I can't wait for it to start couldn't agree more... don't care that the Bears don't have a 1st rd pick. I can't wait until it starts and I will probably watch it all day on saturday.
  20. QUOTE (Scwible @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 11:54 AM) Thought it'd be cool to see some of the playoff pics. thanks, some great pics.... much obliged. lets hope we dont see the Hawks' home reds until the next round.
  21. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) LOL, please explain well, since there have been some racial tensions on this site recently... let me preface by saying that this comment has nothing to do with Malcolm X, extremism, racial discrimination etc... What I meant was, Dave Kaplan is sooo non-inflammatory, so gee-golly, so "magoo" that he makes Len Casper -- someone I feel exhibits similar qualities -- look like an angry, inflammatory, person.
  22. can i choose death? I mean they are both really that bad. I mean its a sad state where i'd rather watch a national network than CSN that focuses specifically on the teams I care about most. Kaplan makes Len Casper look like Malcolm X and Mike North should never speak.
