  1. I've been really impressed thus far, he doesn't look over matched at the plate, he's playing out of position, he's fitting in well with the team. I really couldn't have asked for more out of Beckham thus far.
  2. Jermaine Dye is a player more people should appreciate, considering he started and played through he steroid era and by most accounts (and the eye test) he looks to have played his entire career clean.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 01:26 AM) Skiles got pissed at him for Tweeting during halftime of a game. If there was one coach who would absolutely not tolerate dumb-s*** like that... it would be Scott Skiles. I get the feeling that Skiles doesn't embrace social networking as much as the next guy and I'm surprised that Villanueva played the rest of the year after doing something (IMO) as inappropriate as using his phone or whatever during half-time of an NBA game. I usually don't play the "they're spoiled and they don't have to work as hard as the common man" card, however, you would think you could expect a professional athlete to focus on the game for the 3 hours or so the game lasts.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 01:15 AM) He's not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. There has to be something pretty wrong with him if the bucks were willing to let him walk. Last time I checked the Bucks were not a team brimming with talent. Also, Brandon Jennings had this to say about Villanueva: "f*** Villanueva, just one less dumb ass muthaf***er to get in my way." And then he went on to use the n-word about 20 times.
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:58 PM) I would like the kid to win, but seems he is all hype. If he loses to Hewitt, he should be ashamed of himself. Williams sisters are looking strong. Well to be fair... he has the misfortune of playing in an era with (perhaps) the greatest tennis player ever. That being said, Andy doesn't have a real well-rounded game. I can't help myself though... I love to watch the guy play tennis. Also, his new wife is an absolute fox.
  6. Bucks letting Charlie Villanueva go without a contract offer.... think Gar Forman should kick the tires on him?
  7. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 04:27 PM) Wimbledon is playing at night. This is rocking my world. Wawrinka-Murray in the 5th and currently live. great match! Murray celebrated a 4th round win a little too much, but the crowd was going great for him.
  8. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) IMO he helped influence the whole generation of "dirty" comedies at the movies. He still has great moments, like Gilbert in the studio a few weeks ago, but over the last 6 months, it's taken an unfortunate turn Howard has help raise a generation of young American males IMO. He taught me that it was OK to laugh about certain things that may have once been though as taboo, and as long as you were saying things for the sake of comedy it was probably OK. I will forever consider Howard Stern as one of the people who helped shape my personality and sense of humor... it will be a tough pill to swallow once he hangs it up.
  9. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) I was thinking if Howard retires after 2010 (and as a HUGE fan for years, I think it's probably time) It really really really pains me to say that I agree 100%. Howard just doesn't care enough anymore to make the show great, he had an amazing opportunity to really change the medium when he got TWO channels on SIRI/XM and he just didn't have enough gas left in the tank to follow through. I blame Beth Ono.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Carolla's new podcast is with Lange. Haven't listened yet but definitely will sometime. thanks for the heads up... im going to listen to it now. Howard needs to fire BTLS and hire Adam to his channels.
  11. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:44 AM) Lang admitted it was a PR thing that HBO asked him to do if the show sucked before it was even a news story. I bet Lang gets an HBO special now becuase of it. Artie has not admitted that it was a PR thing, or that it was staged. He admitted that the producers told him to spice it up if things got boring. Artie probably took those instructions too far. The producers of HBO Sports told him today that he was no longer welcomed on any HBO Sports program.
  12. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 11:41 AM) The show was dumb and ARtie's fire-bombing spiced it up. The Show was absolutely horrible until Artie's segment. The show was poorly produced, and there was absolutley no planning done beforehand. Artie's brand of humor may not be for everyone, however, I thought it was mostly funny and never really CROSSED the line.
  13. Howard has lost the will/work ethic to do great radio. Still, I love to listen to him and I think Artie was the only entertaining thing on Joe Buck's show. It was a great move for Artie and Buck because they both are going to get a ton of press out of it. Artie can get repetitive but I think for the most part he was pretty funny on the show.
  14. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 11:04 AM) Until they figure out that they have to simulcast on an actual radio station, its never going to get off the ground. People want to listen to stuff like sportstalk while driving to work its not hard to simulcast at all... but you need to have a station interested in broadcasting you. however, as stated previously in this thread, that problem will become moot when the internet works its way into cars.
  15. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:46 AM) I hope Hood comes back to eithe 670 or 1000... I don't know why anyone thought internet radio was a good idea. here's the thing... I think that this is ultimately where radio is going. Its cheaper and as the technology gets better I think internet radio will become more prominent. This particular internet radio station was done really poorly and headed by a crook, thus it had very little chance for success.
  16. from J-Hood's twitter... I actually feel bad for him.
  17. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 14, 2009 -> 09:08 PM) Flashback! for those of you who remember, this was the Facebook message I got from JHood after I told him i wouldnt listen to the Webio because it was a Mike North venture: Oops.
  18. wow... wtf was going on there? I'm going to eagerly follow this story... I have a feeling its only going to get better.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) I'm glad we have Cutler cause otherwise we'd see the Bears and Vick in the same sentence (from reporters, not necessarily that the Bears front office would go after him). I dunno... we do need a back-up QB. Also we could put him in our version of the Wildcat, named "the cajun-cane-dog abuser"
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Chicagosports.com has all the North stuff and webio's problems. couldn't happen to a better guy. from: chicagosports.com Phil Rosenthal
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:15 PM) Rex to the Texans Don't cry for me Argentina... the truth is I never left you.
