Do we think Danks will be shipped down to Kannapolis like Slayer was? If so, that should be an extremely fun team to monitor the next few months.

If I would have made a list... Jon Garland would have been #1 for me.... It was the most rewarding thing for me as a fan, to watch Jon mature from a STEAL from the CUBS to a All-star pitcher, and than a World Series Champ. While I was Jon's biggest fan, I was also his biggest critic and would always get frustrated when he had a Judy inning (after cruising along) and blow a game. Still, sticking with a guy and watching him thrive... is the most rewarding experience for a serious baseball fan.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) It seems that the offense has been unable to really put a game away. it's still only the 6th... I feel confident that this time through the line-up we'll have more success. 1-2-3 coming up in the top of the inning. -

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) This isn't going to sound right since he did limit the Royals to only 2 runs (only 1 should have been earned) over 5 today and that's all you really could ask from Lance. But he really needs to start missing some bats if he wants to succeed against real offenses. He struck no one out and I'd venture to guess that the Royals were making contact on at least 90% of their swings today, he just wasn't getting anything past them. That's not going to fly against a more potent lineup. Great results from Lance but he's gonna have to work on some things if he doesn't want to get his ass handed to him next time out. my sentiments exactly... I'm happy for his success, but I don't think he'd be able to continue succeeding the he has been. For a 1st round pick... he doesn't exactly wow me with his "stuff." -

Man, the D-Backs must have been desperate as hell to trade for Adam Dunn.... he's a rent-a-player of the worst kind. -

I thought you guys might find this interesting... From CNN.com

Mike was such a great guy... I would have even rooted for him if he made it back to the bigs as a Cub. I remember him starting off 2000 pretty slow, and then anchoring the rotation in the second half when Baldwin, Parque, Eldred and CO. cooled off. He was another torn labrum casualty IIRC... I wonder what all that was about....

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 07:57 PM) I welcome as many D-bags as want to show up. More attendance = more money = better players. We actually have a management that wants to be good. you can't argue with that, so you deal with the d-bags. Still, I have a feeling this team doesn't make the playoffs with Savard as coach, and although were taking in more money... i'm not thrilled with Tallon's handling of the cap... after awhile, the buzz will die down and they'll be expected to WIN, not just put games on television. I think Rocky, and McDonough understand this... which is satisfying. -

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 13, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Some would suggest it's already happened. wow, I am glad that I'm not the only person who feels things are heading in that direction.... I love that the team is moving back towards respectability, but the whole thing just feels very contrived. Maybe things were JUST SOOOO BAD, that it feels weird for them turn around so quickly... still I feel kind of uncomfortable with the cuddliness. -
