  1. Those prospects could've netted a better return. Being slightly better than dog s*** (Erstad) is nothing to puff your chest at let alone the price we paid to get him. Konerko: .244/.354/.416 .260 BABIP 461 PA's Swisher: .225/.339/.427 .252 BABIP 553 PA's I think that's pretty similar
  2. It was close, but it would've been nice if he never overslid on the base.
  3. Oh so the Sox were trading their three top prospect for roughly league average offensive and below average defense. I never buy the BABIP argument as an excuse for a guy having a bad season because his strikeout total is so high. If two guys have the same line and same BABIP, you can't tell me they've been equally as "unlucky" at the plate. Swisher is completely lost up there.
  4. Last year I kept track of the players I wanted to get rid of in the offseason, and I had about 9 of 13 meet my wish. For next season I'm thinking Cabrera, Wasserman, Logan, Crede, Wise, Owens, Griffey, Hall, and maybe Swisher if we could get something of fair value. Of course I hoped and said the same thing about Garland, and look what that netted us.
  5. I actually want to see Hall pinch hit for AJ not because of his splits, but it prevents AJ from hacking at the first pitch by the wild BJ Ryan
  6. It's just the definition. I believe "close and late" has to be within 3 runs. That homer came when the Sox were down by 4. God, just why did we have to use Ehren?
  7. If the Sox lose, that homer = not clutch and just stat padding.
  8. Downs has some sick numbers this year. THOME!!!! f***ING BULLPEN. WE BETTER WIN!!
  9. Let's hope the Blow Jobs are bringing in Ehren Wasserman, Boone Logan, or Adam Russell! R-A-L-L-I-E. RALLIE
  10. While on the subject of the Braves, who else knew about this?
  11. Think ATL would like to undo the Teixeira trade? they gave up quite a few players for a great season (combined) from Mark, but now have extremely little to show for it. Konerko's OPS is more than 40 points higher than Kotchman's.
  12. Paulie's grand slam = my favorite Damaso Marte moment. Of course after that Skippy has been silent on the Cubs spraying champagne on the Ivy in 2003 and celebrating with alcohol in 2007. Oh, and Skippy has been nailed for a DUI twice since then.
  13. No it isn't, and the Shawon Dunstons, Alex Sanchezs, and Juan Pierres of the world show that time and time again. OBP tells how often a player doesn't make an out. Batting average doesn't. Slugging percentage gives a strong idea how much power a player posseses. Batting average doesn't.
  14. That was me, and I meant to point out Sisco is not on the 40 man roster, but he'll likely be gone before next season.
  15. Bulls*** again. Alex Sanchez is a career .296 "hitter" yet was released by the Tigers after "hitting" .322 in 2004. Was he a better hitter than Frank Thomas?
  16. That's idiotic. A player who 1.5 times more likely to get on base than make an out isn't "good enough." How do you know pitchers aren't scared s***less seeing the guy and he rarely gets a chance to hit something good?
  17. Boy the Sox sure do have a lot of garbage on their 40 man roster.
  18. Has it already been exactly 5 years from today of the Jose Paniaqua experience? How appropriate
  19. 1B Swisher 2B Ramirez SS Cabrera 3B Uribe LF Griffey (If he gets hurt it will be Owens) CF Wise RF Dye DH Thome C AJ Pierzynski If that offensive lineup does anything in the playoffs they have to make a Disney movie about it.
  20. 1.074 OPS in August and 1.273 OPS in September. Unless you can name me a viable replacement to give us those numbers, I suggest you head back to the buster.
  21. Well since about 98% of your posts have been political I'm guessing you been paying attention to the Sox over the past 6 weeks with 2% of your time.
