  1. Hate to sound like Hawk, but I think he got jobbed on that last high hanger.
  2. What did Hawk say about the crowd? That they weren't vocal enough about the umpire's calls? Jeezus Uribe. Not that time.
  3. Man up already Gavin. At least the offensive is predictably showing up tonight.
  4. Ah yes, trading Garland for a couple of prospects is such a stretch. From what I learned in this thread, we could've traded Garland for a bag of dog s*** (just speculation on my part) and it would have been worth it Gavin got his crack at the rotation Uribe (gulp) is my shortstop and I would've made a much stronger attempt to get Brian Roberts who the Sox were rumored to be after in the offseason AND at the deadline including giving up Cabrera to get him. I think that answers both of your questions. With the emergence of Ramirez it could've been possible to have Ramirez at short and Roberts at second at May. Now I'll wait for the "wellRobertswasnevertradedsothatnotanoptionforthesox, justaphantomdeal" post.
  5. Why do people automatically assume those that oppose the Cabrera trade still want Garland here? I've said many times I want Garland traded for a package of younger players. Perhaps we could've gotten something worth a damn at the deadline with those players. Cabrera's defense hasn't been as good as advertised and is around Uribe's defensive season in 2007 (which was probably his worse) and the fact is his OPS is only 10 points higher than Uribe's last year. His OBP was a crappy .326 coming into today's game. That's Jerry Owens last year. In 2006 we railed all over an injured Scott Podsednik for putting up a .330 OBP. At this time in 2007 that POS, mistake from the signing, Darin Erstad had a line of .266/.324/.354/.678. That's unacceptable, and all those guys combined made less money than Cabrera and they kept their mouths shut.
  6. Hall's OPS by the month: .526 1.063 .536 .556 .526 .000 yeesh.
  7. I hate this logic. If the Sox released Buehrle or traded Garland + all of his salary to another team would it be worth it just because Floyd got a chance to go in the rotation? Cabrera is so overrated. He's a dickhead and has had defensive miscues that have led to huge innings for the opposition (some were called errors and others were mysteriously hits. I guess the box didn't want to deal with him over the phone.) His OBP isn't very good and his double totals are down. Despite the .270ish average, he currently leads the AL in total outs. Cabrera has been a flop.
  8. Well I'm not leaving this area because of my job, and I doubt you could match these prices. 1014 sq feet for $72k
  9. That money that will be technically freed up won't be enough to get a real CF, and we'd be downgrading our DH and our OF offense. How about biting the bullet and dumping Swisher? I'll throw this one out to his fanboys; Swisher and his whole salary for Beltre. I wonder what Beltre's compensation will be after next year.
  10. I don't care if it's career or seasonal, I don't see the point in discussing batting average for a player especially like Thomas. Who cares if it falls below .300? I'd rather see him round out those numbers in the other categories that were posted. Just for fun, in 1997 Shawon batted .300/.312/.451.
  11. Free time home buyer soon (I hope.) Looking to buy a used condo that was built less than 5 years ago. Do I qualify for any free money?
  12. Why is everyone here acting like John Kruk with that .300 batting average? Didn't Shawon Dunston hover around that range a few times? Frank will be remember for his plate patience and power.
  13. I already went to the last one so unless the Sox are close to clinching, I don't think I'll be heading down there. I know it was under construction, but Kauffman might be the worst stadium I've ever been to. The giant scoreboard is awesome and I'm hoping the Sox will spend the money to get one, but the concourse is sooo minor leaguish. Except for the ends, they have the same set of restaurants repeating throughout the area. The beer places are stuffed in the back where you order at one register and walk over to another to pay. Then there are the chicken stands which are perpendicular to the main stands, and they have two lines but you would have no idea. one faces the concourse, and the other faces the entrance to the ball park. So there's one were with people lined up around the corner on the concourse, and the other barely has anyone in it because they aren't sure if they're cutting the rest of the line. The bathrooms are also disgusting. There's also NOTHING but primative baptist churches (that's what it says on the door) by the Shearton hotel which is very close to the stadium. It might be the shortest way for me to see the Sox, but KC is f***ing dump.
  14. It's not misguided people, it's just LVsox looking for a chance to bash Thome and home runs. Only a matter of time before we get the "Man, I miss that guy [Rowand]" post.
  15. That is a product of a guy in front of them having a high OBP. It's going to happen. You do realize every regular in the Sox lineup is in double digits for GIDP's don't you? Hell, Griffey's hit into 5 in 72 at-bats, and the speedy Dewaynse wise has hit into 4 in 66 ab's.
  16. Seems like people are picking Floyd for his win-loss record. Rotoworld recently pointed out Gavin gets an average of 7.8 runs in his wins and the game against Boston was the first win he's had with less than 5 runs of support. Think Danks would appreciate that?
  17. This is ridiculous. He was already rewarded for his past contributions with a WS ring and a few million dollars. Why do we want japanese players to sign her with the attitude of "hey let's sign with the White Sox! They pay people to sit on the bench!"
  18. Don't forget about Juggs doing his kid's homework.

    Films Thread

Finally saw WALL-E today, wow, really touching. I'm still thinking about it.
  20. Way back in grade school we played soccer on a huge field, then about halfway through the rules would suddenly change as the whole backside was the goal, there were multiple goalies, you could pick the ball up and run with it, you can switch teams at any point, and tackle each other. I won't tell you waht we called it because it involves the "n-word" however I went to grade school on the hill and kids of every race played the game. In the winter after the playground was plowed it was all about king of the hill. In high school I used to have a whole different group of people come over to play laser tag with laser challenge equipment We would have teams of 4 or 5 and play elimination or caputre the flag with the little yellow NICOR flags that were in the ground. Good times.
  21. If he gets the save here that will be 16 out of 114 career saves (quick count through game log) That's hardly "classic." See Todd Jones for that.
  22. ------ R. Sweeney reached on fielder's choice, B. Crosby to third, E. Brown to second, E. Brown and B. Crosby scored on pitcher J. Nathan's throwing error Wow. I have to see that!
  23. Arguing with Tex all the time.
