If Oney's last name wasn't Guillen there would be a handful of posters here using him as an example why the Sox's farm system is so bad.

Official Squared Circle Thread

Anyone else following much on "The Wrestler" movie? It's being directed by the guy who did "pi" and "Requiem for a Dream" starring mickey Rourke. Supposed to be really great. -
How about the Mariotti thread? /thread nazi

So apparently Casey Blake has taken over for David Dellucci as a Soxtalk favorite. Uribe seems to play pretty poorly when things are just given to him. Because of the hole at third I would offer him arbitration (type B) but not attempt to sign him to any single year deals worth more than $4 million. I would like to see us go after Chone, Beltre, or a package of Mora(wouldn't really want him) + Roberts. Providing they produce with the White Sox, they should all be type A free agents after 2009 so I'm not too worried what we would have to give up in young players.

Oney Guillen = Sofia Coppola in the Godfather III.
-
Too early to tell. If the Sox had a promotion where they gave away whatever amount of money they paid Oney, they would have a lot more asses in the seats than people who would ever come to see him play.
-
..and honestly can we keep it in the twins thread? There are starting to be more Twins posts than Sox posts in the game threads. I'm guessing all of following on Soxtalk are following the Twins box score so do we really need three posts in a row of "Damn (Indians reliever)" in a Sox thread?
-
..should've traded him after the 2006 season when we had a chance.
-
I'm not concerned about the pick itself, it's that the Sox organization gave money to a horrendous baseball player and played and promoted him over other minor leaguers. What kind of message doe that send to the farmhands? We don't need the White Sox to be like Hiltons or Richies of MLB with the Guillen. Let them party on their own time and money. Only Ozzie has earned his money.
-
Perhaps he can hook up a couple more of his free swinging friends with free money and partying time. I bet Oney will be able to score them MLB tickets too. Maybe he can learn from the school of Dave Wilder.
-
When did he ever start?
-
Wow. What a bunch of bulls***. I still stand by my thought that his draft pick was worse than Carrie Schueler's.
-
How fitting that piece of s*** Erstad struck out hopelessly in that last at-bat. It reminded me of one of his pathetic at-bats against Zumaya (?) last year.
-
Renteria has to be loving that.
-
That's the first time I've seen Q's injury, and that's pretty pathetic. Thanks for the great season, but that's a Zambrano-like boner right there. Kenny Rogers looks horrible tonight. Can't trust Hunter Wendelstat behind home plate to help us out.
-
I was just thinking that as well. Perhaps if they hold on tonight I'll change it.
-
I'm so glad the Sox took the Baltimore games lightly. Nothing says killer instinct like starting Horacio Ramirez and trying to use him for 3 innings in pretty much a sudden death game.
-
Daniel Cabrera is f***ing garbage. People always toss around his with Cooper, but if Mazzone couldn't straighten his ass out, why would you even want to touch this guy with a 10 foot pole?
-
Who tossed the coin; Anton Chigurh or Harvey Dent?
-
It was reported Crede had his locker cleaned out so I guess in addition to Brooks Robinson, you can make the comparison to Carlton Fisk. He didn't show up in the Red Sox series, but he was a beast in September.
-
He tied it off of Guardado, and then Frank hit a 2-run walk off shot on July 2nd 2003. It was Carl Everett's and Roberto Alomar's first game with the Sox. That was an awesome night in the bleachers.

What is your point? That I found a match? -

Well since you have the all the answers, why don't you tell us? The Giants were cornered for a third baseman yet all they offered us was Noah Lowry for Crede. Why not Jonathan Sanchez? It doesn't matter what Garland is doing as we should only be concerned about the package we receive on our end. I'll turn the tables the other way. Do you think Boston is kicking themselves for giving up Hanley Ramirez? -

This question sucks so much as it is always asked and follows this route: fathom proposes a trade Response is: A. "How do you know he could've done that? What's your source?" or "Well that's all hindsight 20/20." I'll say this; The Sox were looking to move Cabrera and acquire Brian Roberts at the deadline. With the exception of DLS, those would've been a nice couple of pieces to POSSIBLY use.
