If the Sox had a $40 million payroll, they wouldn't be competitive, and they won't be competitive with a $60-65 million payroll either. I want the Sox to be playoff contenders EVERY year...in today's MLB, you can' t do that without spending money!

I hate to keep repeating myself; the above options are unacceptable. Rebuilding hasn't worked! "Half-assing" it hasn't worked! Either Jerry invests in some stud ballplayers OR he needs to sell the team!!!

It's not enough for Jerry to say he wants to win...actions speak louder than words! He can't expect people to pay money to see a mediocre (at best) ballclub; that is asinine! I love the Sox, have been a fan since 1972, and want nothing more than for them to win a world series...or at the VERY least, be competitive. It's NOT going to happen with the current ownership/management team in place. (By the way, I have been a paying customer to 15-20 games per year on average!) You are right about one thing...I have never met Mr. Reinsdorf...but if I did, I'd suggest that if he really loves the Whitesox and their fans, he should sell the team!

Can anybody name any of the stud ballplayers that the Sox have drafted/developed over the last 5-10 years? Didn't think so! The reason is, when we do draft a highly touted player, we don't (won't) spend the money to sign 'em...(see Jeff Weaver, Bobby Hill, etc.,). Where is Ruffin, Ruffcorn, Baldwin, etc., all these "can't miss" guys that ALWAYS miss! :fthecubs

If ANY of the fine people on this site have any baseball playing experience at all (including whiffle ball!), and will "work cheap", (and don't need a multi-year contract), the Sox may sign you!

To Sox r Us (and all the other Sox apologists)! If you went to a restaurant and the food/service was subpar, would you keep going there? What if the restaurant management said to you that "we'll improve on our food/service if/when you come to eat more frequently, and spend more money here". Would you continue to eat there? Would you then get more people to eat there so management MIGHT improve things? HELL F***KING NO!!! Good morning peeps! What baseball needs (and the Sox especially) is both a minimum AND a maximum salary cap. For example, MLB should decree that no team can have a payroll of over $100 million AND no team can have a payroll of less than $75 million. This would ensure competitive balance, and would force assbags like Reinsdorf, Pohlad, Selig, etc., to spend money. The players union won't let this happen, so, in the meantime, we need Jerry to SELL THE SOX!!! :fthecubs

If the Yankees-Expos trade is a done deal, we should then offer the Expos Magglio and Valentin and CA$H, for Nick Johnson and Jose Vidro. We'd then have a real 1st AND 2nd baseman, who's offensive numbers would surpass what we're giving up. We'd probably have to throw in a player (Willie Harris?) or two, but.... :fthecubs
