Can we order playoff tickets yet?

Again, read the topic "The R-Word"! JR ain't spending money...get used to that! He's not selling either, get used to that too! "Rebuilding" is the only way for the Sox. It sucks, but, that's the way it is.

He won't sell because he's making a ton of money on the Sox. JR is a businessman (and an assbag!), if the Sox weren't profitable, he'd have bailed on the team a long time ago! JR is a lot of things...stupid isn't one of them!

Please read what I wrote under the topic "The "R-Word"", re. Magglio. JR can, but won't pay the salaries of the players that you need to be perennial pennant contenders, that's the sad but true fact. (He says "fiscal responsibility", I say BULLs***!) Therefore, we almost have to trade Magglio, if we can get value for him! We cannot afford to keep him for $14 mil, then lose him to free agency and get nothing for him! I like the deal that was in the Suntimes (with the Dodgers) for Guillermo Mota, ( a badass in the bullpen), Odalis Perez, (#4 starter) and some stud prospects. I hate to beat a dead horse, but, HEY JERRY, PLEASE SELL THE F***ING TEAM ALREADY!!!!!

I forgot to mention this... When I say that I want to see the Sox be competitive, I am talking about having a real, viable chance to win a Pennant and World Series, NOT to win the AL Central and get blown out of the playoffs in the 1st round. JR won't spend the $ to give us the chance, our ONLY opportunity, short of him selling the team, is rebuilding.

To my fellow Soxtalk brothers and sisters... I hate to say this but I think I may have been wrong, with my past postings re. the "direction" that the Sox are going. I wanted Reinsdorf to spend tons o money; I was looking for instant gratification. I came to realize that the Sox aren't going to compete with the Yankees and/or the Redsox, NOT WITH THE CURRENT OWNERSHIP! The answer, sad as it is to say is "REBULID". I read in this a.m.'s Suntimes that the Sox have talked to the Dodgers about Maglio for Perez, Mota, and 2-4 solid prospects, (We'd probably have to throw in Konerko and/or Valentin, but, who cares?). I love Maggs, but I say, GO FOR IT! We'd be getting 3-4 stud ballplayers for a guy the we can't re-sign anyway, and we'd free up $14-20+ million. BUT, if I did this, I'd still go after either Guerrero, and build around him, and/or Maddux, so he can teach our young arms how to be pitchers. In 2-5 years, we could be the 2003 Marlins or the 2002 Angels, but we'd be able to sustain it for several years. I still would like to see Reinsdorf sell the team, but being that he probably won't, this is the way to go! :fthecubs

Ozzie likes Pudge, and knows the cheap, stupid Sox ownership would never sign him, (Not when we can have a "solid" .250 hitter like Alomar), so he wants Pudge in town. Damn, I hope the sCrUBS don't get Pudge or Javy!

Even though I'm relatively new to this site...I'd have to recommend "PASTIME's" postings as some of the most realistic and informative on the site. Keep up the good work, PASTIME!!!

Good thing the Sox are "standing pat"...it's not like we need pitching or anything. Let's hope that Buehrle, Loiaza and Garland can start 50 games apiece, cuz we don't have anyone else. Can any of you pitch? Willing to work cheap? Don't need a 3+ year contract? Call Jerry and KW, they'd love to hear from you.

My 2 cents, (for what it's worth)... Although Robbie is a "shadow" of his former playing self, his defense and leadership value cannot be overlooked. I hope Willie can "cut it", but from what I've seen of him so far, I'm not too sure. I hope I'm wrong (it's been known to happen ), but....

Hey Pastime...I've been a Sox fan since before your father was too lazy to go to the drug store to by condoms. My "problem" is that I love the Sox TOO much; I'm sick of "management" crying "poor". If the Sox weren't profitable, Jerry would have sold a long time ago. JR needs to put up (money) or quit whining about how nobody goes to Sox games! Love to y'all!

A) I go to 15-20 games a year, so I put money in Jerry's pockets; B) If he wasn't making a LOT of money off the team, he'd have sold a long time ago; C) If as you said, the Sox spend money wisely, then why not throw between $7-10 million per at Tejada, Pudge, AND Vlad. They are a "steal" at their rumored "going rates". Once again, I ask you...if you went to a restaurant where the food was sub-standard, and the owner said, "We'll make it better if more people come and eat it.", would you keep going back for more? How many times do you "Jerry-apologists" have to be hit over the head by Sox management? Remember, a definition of INSANITY...going into the same situation(s) in the same manners, and expecting different outcomes every time!
