Maybe I need to clarify. Do I believe in torturing "the little brown savages" just for kicks.........no. Thats stupid and accomplishes nothing. Do I believe in torturing suspects as a last resort in order to garner intelligence that can save innocent lives, prevent attacks or catch a high value target.........Absolutely. If I had reason to believe someone in my custody knew about an imminent attack that was going to kill a lot of people and wasn't talking what would I do? Hand him a box of candy and ask him nicely? Appeal to his heart? Hell no. I'd boil him in oil, rip out his fingernails, crank up the voltage,,, whatever it takes to get that info. What's the pain of a terrorist versus a bunch of innocent lives? Am I some sort of extremist for having this viewpoint? Nope. I'll got a stack of hundreds that says nearly all of the military and a sizeable portion, if not an outright majority, of most folks outside the service agree with me.

Nobody here is talking about renouncing their loyalty to the Sox and going over to the dark side of the force ( Spankees, Twins, Flubbs etc...) and as admission paying fans they have a right to b**** and complain about what our management does. /still roots for the Sox even they are decidedly mediocre and will probably be that way next season.

You know that Chicago sports is in a sad state when football and basketball are less important than speculation about what the next Sox offseason moves will be. The only realistic thing the Sox can do this offseason reference their starting rotation is to go through FA and get Clement or someone like him. The Johnson deal is a pipe dream and even if it wasn't it would hurt the team more than it would help because we'd lose yet another top prospect, Konerko's production and there would still not be a 5th starter on this team which means a guaranteed loss every 5th day when we spin whats below.

Rumsfeld doesn't Bush doesn't The generals don't The mid level officers don't The NCO's don't The last time there were major internal problems in the military was during Vietnam because a fair percentage of those doing the fighting were draftees and a fair percentage of them did everything they could do to avoid going but missed the 9:30 to Toronto. After going to an all volunteer force the quality of the average soldier improved dramatically and the readiness level went right with it. The military prides itself on being a professional force made up of people who want to be there. Despite all the nonsense the left spread around on the web the only ones in government who want a draft are Charles Rangel and the other moron ( singular ) that voted for it last year.
