November 26, 200421 yr It's here, it's here, it's finally here!!!! Getting ready to go out in a bit, hope I'm not the only one.
November 26, 200421 yr I for one will NOT be taking part in the Running Of The Retards. f***ing animals trampling each other for a cheap-ass 20 dollar DVD player. Asswipes pulling s*** out of each other's hands cuz "it's the last one". Empty boxes strewn about the parking lot because Goober bought more s*** than will fit in the minivan, so he had to unbox everything to squeeze it in. f*** it.
November 26, 200421 yr Wait till Jessie Jackson sees this thread title... he is going to shut this place down....

Thats gonna play hell with em when they come back the day after Christmas trying to return stuff cause they maxed out the MasterCard and are broke as a joke.

Today symbolizes everything that is wrong with this country. We spend a day as a nation, giving thanks and helping people less fortunate than us. We spend that day with family and friends, reflecting on memories and life. Then the very next day we go out and engage in an orgy of greed and dangerous consumerism. People literally fight to be first in line to spend their money on things they don't need. They charge themselves into debt levels that lead them into bankruptcy and ruiniation of the credit. And for what? A cheap DVD player? A new computer? Bah. There is no reason to bastardize Christmas for this crap.

No lines, no hassle, no soccer moms that got turned into ferocious animals by the sight of a 10% off sale, no traffic. All that and my stuff gets brought to me. Nothing left to do but wrap it and thats easily done in an hour or 2.

A couple of thousand per person on a personal card added to $7.3 trillion as a nation, plus everything we have promised ourselves through Social Security and other programs. Remind me how we "won" the cold war? Wasn't it the USSR not being able to pay their bills? I love shopping malls at Christmas time. The hustle the bustle, the voices singing out feliz navidad.
November 26, 200421 yr Author If you're smart about it and know exactly what you want, Black Friday is a great experience. I feel guilty in taking pleasure watching the lost masses look for stuff that was sold out an hour ago. Store managers yelling at customers is also good, it's like payback for all the s*** they have to take the rest of the year.
November 26, 200421 yr I for one will NOT be taking part in the Running Of The Retards. My sentiments exactly. Besides, too damn many T-Day leftovers to eat - no time for shopping... must eat.
November 26, 200421 yr Another reason to be disgusted about this: They showed some f***tard who had been outside of the local Y'All-Mart since THREE A.M. with her infant in tow. Good idea, dumbs*** - keep a small child outside for 3 hours in sub-freezing weather - hope there's a sale at the hospital, asshole.
November 26, 200421 yr Thats gonna play hell with em when they come back the day after Christmas trying to return stuff cause they maxed out the MasterCard and are broke as a joke. Or when Goob tries to return that HIGH-QUALITY 20-buck DVD player that crapped out the first time they stuck that HILAROUS "Blue-Collar TV" DVD in it...

It amazes me the hypnotic power that Wal-Mart holds over rednecks and other assorted morons. No wonder they are so filthy stinking rich.
November 26, 200421 yr Author From BF04.com for Kip The day after Thanksgiving in the United States, is frequently referred to as Black Friday. One of the major U.S. holiday shopping days, it is the day many U.S. consumers begin Christmas shopping. The day is heavily promoted by retailers. The origin of Black Friday comes from the shift to profitability during the holiday season. Black Friday was when retailers went from being unprofitable, or "in the red," to being profitable, or "in the black", at a time when accounting records were kept by hand and red indicated loss and black profit. Last year, Black Friday was a huge day for internet retailers. Amazon.com received 2.5 times as many orders between midnight and noon as it did the same time a year ago, according to company spokesman Paul Capelli. Many other Internet retailers also saw a huge spike in sales as customers jumped online instead of into their cars. This year figures to be just as lucrative, if not more.

November 26, 200421 yr Not everyone can shop at government supported PXs without sales tax WalMart - the PX for the rest of the world Actually AAFES ( Army Air Force Exchange Service ) is quite profitable without any subsidation from the government. The profits it generates are used to fund recreational and community activities throughout the 2 services. The Navy operates its own exchange service for itself and the Marine Corps in much the same manner. Minus the need to run up massive profits every year it can afford to provide somewhat cheaper prices than are commonly found in the private sector. The most tangible benefit, obviously, is the lack of sales tax. Technically military installations are not part of the states they reside in but are on "military reservations" which are federal land. Hence the lack of state sales taxes.
November 26, 200421 yr Just came back from the mall. It was absolutely madness. I must have stepped on at least a dozen people. My dad and I waited outside Best Buy for an hour just to get in even though the store was open! We were freezing our asse’s off but this day comes only once a year, plus you save money. I mean... who doesn’t like to save $$$$?
November 26, 200421 yr I refuse to go out. I'm not even going back to my apartment until Saturday. Too much traffic. I'd rather pay 40 bucks for a DVD player then stand in line for an hour while having to fight people from digging their hands in my cart.

He explained their store space was rent free, only a portion of their utilities were charged to the store, the government negotiates lower rates than most retail stores (high volume customer), and they were not under shareholder pressure for profits. I wonder how many conservatives in the military would want the store privatized and perhaps run by Wal-Mart and charging Wal-Mart prices? It makes sense to allow military families to buy for less. Or else it would be even mroe compelling to give an across the board increase in military pay to cover the higher profit margin, which would go to pay the higher salaries, and the circle continues.

The store space is free cause the stores are all built and owned by the government. I guess the store has to kick in to help pay for power and the such but that isin't all that great an expense I would think. You mentioned military pay though, Military pay has shot up by a lot in the last 4 years. If I remember right we got a 7.5% pay hike in 2001, and like 4-5% a year since, save for the 2005 hike which is only 3.5% #$%&@#^@#$^!. One thing Id REALLY like to see is to have military pay exempted from Federal taxes. I dont pay any state tax from Illinois even though technically I'm still a resident because of such an exemption.
