garland of all people got a solid bunt down yesterday. of course, it didnt really mean anything by that time but it was good to see.

konerko's bunting form was just terrible. one hand on the knob, the other about a foot away, and it was practically pointing backwards. when he put pk in for daubach i let out a cry of agony.

one guy blatantly ignored a dont walk sign yesterday without looking, and got hit by a bmw right in front of me. the taxi drivers didnt get me so much, but they seem to not see pedestrians at all.

It is hard to see Chicago in 50 hours, but you did some cool stuff! yeh we really didn't get out of the general area from the hotel out to the pier, and as far south as the miracle mile, which the exception of the cell which we took the DR express to. it was a little intimidating at first but it didnt take long to figure out which people were going to ask you for money, how the transit cards work, when to ignore the don't walk signs etc. it was easy to get used to the flow of the city.

we wound up staying in the best western on e ohio. it was right in the middle of everything, it was cool. went to three sox games, toured the navy pier, ate at the espn zone (in the recliners ) and the rock and roll mcdonald's, and met pedro and david ortiz downtown randomly. chicago is a cool city, and we made the most of our 50 or so hours.

does anyone know a good, cheap place to stay in chicago overnight this week? i'm talking reaaaaaaaaally cheap, but not a total dump.

It's possible, as long as the starters hold up. monday--buehrle vs pedro, i'd say we're (i say we for the sake of brevity) a longshot to win that game, but anything can happen. tuesday--colon vs burkett, i think this is our best chance to win. burkett has been shaky all year. wednesday--loaiza vs wakefield, we have a good shot to win with e-lo going if he is dominant, but wakefield is awfully tough. thursday--wright vs lowe, who knows what will happen in this game. lowe sucks on the road but if he's on his game we're in trouble. i think it could go either way.

It is not a question of when they start manufacturing runs, but if they ever decide to. When players play for themselves and nobody else, they have no reason to try and manufacture runs. Not only do they have to decide to, but they have to be able to, and I don't see it happening anytime soon. The next sixteen games will be killer, with the Red Sox, Twins and Cubs exclusively on the schedule. Playing well enough to take two of three from the second-worst team in all of baseball, when they should have swept, will not get it done against the good teams. The Sox need to go 11-5 to even make it back to .500. I will be happy with 8-8.
