I don't care who is doing better. I am sick of the Yankees and Red Sox always drawing the most coverage and getting all their players in the All-Star game. I am voting for my team's players no matter what.

can we fill out the ballots online or only at the ballpark?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fields and McCarthy. To be honest, I think Rocco is more likely going to be available for a trade. Is that all it would take? If that is the case then count me in.

Doesn't the Mexican government already implant these chips into convicts? I can't quite remember the article exaclty. I will look for it.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 31, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well Chris Young is no longer with the Sox, so what is the point of even discussing this? All of the Anderson doubters are really starting to get on my nerves. The kid has hardly had a chance to get settled in and all we can do is speculate about other players and this or that. At this point, you're either in or out with this kid. Just don't try to jump back on the bandwagon when he turns into a stud. He's already one of the best defensive centerfielders in baseball.

Its Time For The Josh Fields Era To Begin...........

QUOTE(Friend of Nordhagen @ May 31, 2006 -> 06:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I see I'm not the only one who thinks that Erstad, evaluated for the next month or two for health and batting ninth in our order, is a possibility on the cheap. I brought it up in another thread, knowing that he's always been a favorite of Kenny Willams's, is a "grinder," and is in a walk year. Nevertheless, I agree with folks here that settling our bullpen problems is a bigger concern than centerfield. He will never be that healthy. -

QUOTE(fathom @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A lot of people have pointed to Iguchi's failed bunt attempt as a big turning point in the game. We're giving up a lot of outs on bunt attempts this season without successfully advancing the runners. And this has to do with Brian Anderson how? How does the move of Josh Fields to left and Pods to CF help Iguchi put down a bunt. Brian Anderson's fundamentals seem to be fine to me. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Problem is...at the current rate, 40-50 of those losses are going to be due to bad fundamental baseball. And Brian Anderson is the culprit of this bad fundamental baseball? I am just not understanding this. Unless we are getting off the topic of moving Pods to center and bringing up Josh Fields to play left. -

QUOTE(Thunderin @ May 31, 2006 -> 04:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...tesox-headlines Josh Fields is batting .326 with eight home runs and 23 RBIs in his first 39 games with Triple-A Charlotte. He has been playing third, but that could change if he continues to develop hitting as quickly as he has in his first seven weeks with the Knights. Fields could switch to the outfield. "We might have to consider this for Fields, simply because Joe is at third base, and Joe is the best in the business," general manager Ken Williams said.... "[Fields] is a good athlete," Williams said of the former Oklahoma State quarterback. "… We may be forced [to switch his position] because Josh is coming, and he's coming fast." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- * So Fields would come up and move to LF. * Podsdnik would move back to CF (his natural position) * Then Send Anderson to AAA so he can idk, "find himself". I think its a good idea. This would kill our defense. Pods has no arm and gets terrible jumps/reads on fly balls. No way do I want him in CF. I would much rather keep Mac in CF if Anderson gets sent down. Either that or go get a veteran to play CF if we are that concerned about it. Defense must be first for the CF position. -
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ May 30, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> An embarassment to Chicago? You really need to stop exaggerating the current status of the Cubs and start paying attention to other things. Last time I checked, the White Sox won the World Series last year and have a good chance of doing it again this year. Yeah, the Cubs are awful, get over it. And if you honestly think that Wrigleyville is an embarassment to Chicago, you should really go to the lovely parts of the South Side instead. I heart Stateway Gardens and parts of the West Side are absolutely beautiful in the summer. Wrigleyville is a very cool place, it's just inhabited by too many yuppies. Actually the west and south sides of Chicago are being rehabbed. The Pilsen area used to be absolutely horrible and it has a bunch of new condos and townehomes going up. Near UIC used to be awful as well, but is being nicely rehabbed. I have been to Wrigleyville and I am not a big fan. Then again I am not a teenaged or college aged boy looking to get my drink on and puke all Saturday/Sunday morning either.

QUOTE(chisox72 @ May 30, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That quick hits column is something else... If somehow a guy like Billy Koch (who is the epitome of suck) gets to have an impact on anyone's reputation, then thats just retarded. Most of the crap listed in there is just one-sided whiney bulls***. See, noone every cared to get AJ's side or even let his side seem truthful without mocking it. Its just easier and better for gossip to have someone like him with a bullseye on his back. Personally, I love the guy. I love his intensity, his team-first attitude, and what he brings to the table. As far as I am concerned, the testimony in that article against him is nothing more garbage being spewed by a bunch of has-been's and never-will-be's. He is not by any means an angel, that much is for certain. But he does get crucified for doing any of the things that every single ballplayer does, and somehow with him, its news... I do have to admit that I never liked him before he was with the World Champion Chicago White Sox. He always seemed to hurt us in one way or another with the Twins. Plus I hate the twins and everyone on them. I never really noticed his behavior before. The guy I hate the most in all of baseball is Ronnie Belliard. The guy is beyond cocky and I have no idea why. What the hell has he done? I can't stand him. Plus he seems very lazy to me.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 30, 2006 -> 06:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, the schedule heavily favors Detroit coming down the stretch. Look, these guys aren't going to go away. Teams that get off to this kind of start are definitely hard pressed to not make the playoffs. The thing is, this year, there's 5 teams for three spots (NYY, BOS, CLE, DET, and CWS). Then you have the last spot going to whoever comes out in the West (probably OAK with around a 85 win total or so). I never said they were going away. I would put Toronto ahead of Cleveland or just say 6 for 3 spots.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 30, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Interesting note: They also have Toronto and the White Sox in late September. The problem the White Sox face in September will be a lot of traveling against good teams. They play at Boston for 3 games, come home to play Cleveland for 4 games, then travel to the West Coast to play 3 against the Angels (then get a day off) and 3 against the A's, then come back home to play 3 against Detroit and 4 against Seattle, and then back out to Cleveland for 3 more. That is 23 games in 24 days, flying east to midwest to west and back to the midwest in that span. That stretch looks pretty brutal.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 30, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> he said they "slumped toward the end" Going 12-16 in August with a 7 game losing streak doesn't qualify as a slump? We were 17-12 in September and ended up with a 5 game winning streak going into the playoffs. Isn't that towards the end? August is more towards the middle, no? The Sox did have a .552 winning percentage after the all-star break. They went 42-34 after the all star-break. It is not exactly 57-29 and a .663 winning percentage like they did before the break, but hardly a slump. Plus we were 11-1 in the playoffs, which, if included in the 2nd half totals, brings it up to 53-35 and a .602 winning percentage. Still not as good as before the break, but hardly a slump. Plus no one expected them to win at a .663 winning percentage for the entire year as they did before the break.

QUOTE(Steff @ May 30, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Girls, IMO, are easier to train. Boys (my step daughter has 2) are a more agressive and territorial, and generally don't seem to be as friendly. Girls also didn't have an attitude change after being fixed (their boys did). Though I have to say I also believe it all depends on the dog and how you as an owner raise them. You are correct on the most part Steff. However, in raising my boxers, I have found that the females are much more agressive and territorial than the males. It may be a breed thing and this kind of stuff may differ from breed to breed. The biggest part for me is that male dogs lift their legs to urinate, so they can basically pee on anything they want. So while you are in the potty training period the male dog can pee on the couch, the walls, children's toys, and such, while the female will just pee on the ground or floor. That makes it much easier. I believe it has a lot to do with how you raise them and the tendancies of the breed you get. Do your research in the breed of dog you will be getting. Do a lot of it. Just don't get one because it is so cute and fluffy. You will be much happier if you do this and so will your dog. I would highly recommend the boxer breed to anyone. They are fabulous dogs and a great family pet.

QUOTE(Felix @ May 22, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yea, I know they had a history, but that doesn't really effect how the $100 for a HR is looked at. It can still be seen as a way to start things, since he could have just moved on and ignored it. Hmm, easier said than done. Most people, especially highly competitive people, don't ignore things and move on. Especially not the crap that Tomko said. He is the main reason AJ had to take such a big pay cut. Most, if not all, teams were avoiding him because of it. Hard not to be a little pissed off about someone taking money away from you. At least that is how I look at it.

QUOTE(Dawgs @ May 29, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lets talk now. Im tired of people telling me the Tigers are not for real because they have played few games against teams with winning records. Consider this: Clevelands overall record: 24-25 Against Detroit: 3-7 vs. the rest of baseball: 21-18 Twins overall record: 23-26 Against Detroit: 2-7 vs the rest of baseball: 21-19 The only reason Minnesota and the Tribe are not over .500 this season is because Detroit has kicked thier asses. This overloaded divisonal schedule has skewed everyones SOS numbers. Its utter nonsense to even attempt to explain away Detroit using this logic. Let me expand on this a bit. If Detroit was the usual horrible team that everyone in baseball had become accustomed to and the numbers were reversed the Twinsand Clevelands records would both be 28-21. Cleveland's overall record: 24-26 Against the World Champion Chicago White Sox: 3-3 vs. the rest of baseball: 21-23 Twins' overall record: 23-27 Against the World Champion Chicago White Sox: 2-5 vs. the rest of baseball: 21-22 Tigers' overall record: 35-16 Against the World Champion Chicago White Sox: 0-3 vs. the rest of baseball: 35-13 The World Champion Chicago White Sox have not had the same opportunity to play the Central as often as the Tigers. They have only played the Twins and Indians a total of 13 times. The Tigers have played those two teams 19 times. If the World Champion Chicago White Sox were given the same opportunity you may see their records be even worse than they already are. I'm just spewing out the same ridiculous nonsence you are so you can see how ridiculous your comments are to everyone here. Ifs, ands, and buts get you nothing. Lets play the entire season and not make these crazy assumptions.

QUOTE(tigerfan @ May 27, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know one of the local sports stations here in Detroit was talking about this, and they mentioned something that really makes sense when you think about it. They said that maybe the reason some of these teams are under .500 or close to it right now is in part because of the Tigers beating them as often as they have. We're 21-7 against Central teams right now so that notion probably isn't too far off from the truth. 21-7 vs Central teams 0-3 vs the World Champion Chicago White Sox QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 28, 2006 -> 03:32 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They did not play at this current Tigers pace all season. They played parts of it well and slumped toward the end. Cleveland was poor at the start. Detroit will eventually slump like we did. But we're not starting slow like Cleveland, and we should be able to retain the Divison by the end. We slumped at the end? Where? For how long?

QUOTE(JimH @ May 11, 2006 -> 01:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Actually I think you're Gertie's sister LOL. Goof. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 11, 2006 -> 07:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As a little tidbit, the founder of the site had a Jobu picture in his sig for the better part of the past 8 months or so. Simply a superstition to try and jinx the Indians as far as I can tell. Unless of course Jason's a closet Indians fan, which wouldn't surprise me in the least. But Jobu never played for the Indians nor do I believe is he a symbol for the Indians. He is a symbol for the movie Major League. It is a movie and one of the funniest sports movies ever made. Right up there with Slapshot, Bull Durham, and Caddyshack. You are comparing apples and oranges my friend. -

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 01:21 AM) I don't care what anybody says. As far as World Series homeruns go, Joe Carters' homer to me, was the greatest homerun in a World Series ever. To hit one in a game 7, in the bottom of the 9th, to win a World Series is every kids dream and the perfect timing. As far as the Whitesox homerun, I would consider Blums to be huge. The guy barely gets an at-bat for about 3 weeks and to hit one in your ONLY AB in the playoffs (yet alone the W.S.) in the longest W.S game in history was simply amazing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kirk Gibson's was the best I have ever seen. This quote comes from Baseball America about the home run:

QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 2, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) now can we find somebody to play center field? Singleton? Lance Johnson? somebody who can hit more than .143 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WTF?!?! This guy is playing a great defensive CF. With the offense we have we can afford to have him struggle and hopefully figure things out up here. Calm down and let the kid play. He is the # 9 hitter. It is not like Rowand was great offensively for us last year. There are a lot of facets to the game of baseball. Don't judge a player and what he means to a team on his offensive output alone. Lance Johnson and Chris Singleton could not come close to playing CF the way Brian Anderson does. Give me a f***ing break!!!

QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Apr 5, 2006 -> 02:15 AM) I got there at 11 and still managed to get 1 while cutting in line!!! No one held a gun to your head about spending the money and as for a 50 cent ring, shows your character even more by cutting in line for something you value at 50 cents <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with you Matt, about everything you said. That was a f***head asshole thing to do. Then to go on a message board and brag about it like you did something fantastic of funny shows exactly how much class and respect some people actually have. It doesn't matter that I got one or that you got one, but what about the people that were originally in front of him that should have got one but didn't because he is an asshole. If he got there at 10:30 and was crying about having standing in a line to get into a line and not being able to get one, then think about how long the people that were in front of him were waiting for. I just think it is one f***head asshole move to do something like that. Too bad he didn't get the s*** kicked out of him for doing it.

QUOTE(chisoxdavid @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Thank god my gf went to the game, and gave hers to me. She said Rowand was at the ceremony, and got teary eyed when he received his ring. QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Apr 3, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) CBS does a nice job of charting pitches in the game log. Thorton just appeared to be really wild in his 1.1 innings last night. He threw 12 balls, 12 strikes but the balls were way up, way outside, way inside and low. I am not sure I would want this guy in there in too many situations. Last night was one of them but I am not sure how many times we are going to have 7 run leads for him to work with. There seems to be a little more work to be done on this work in progress. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree. I don't think he was very wild at all. I was pleasantly surprised by his performance last night.
