Our system blows. It doesn't get much worse than what we have to be completely honest. We have an extremely overrated top 3rd base prospect and Ryan Sweeney. Oh we also have a ton of 4A guys that really aren't that good of prospects. Hate to tell it like it is, but we got s*** to be proud of in our system. We have some raw talents down in the lower levels, but I haven't seen many of those raw talents pan out. Oh and I have nothing against McCulloch and Broadway, both are good looking prospects. They just aren't great looking prospects.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Albert Young just got Wally Pip'd. 256 rushing yards early in the 4th quarter. Damn Simms had some nice runs against the Buckeyes and more so far today. Tate is looking a lot better, but than again Purdue is not a good team (despite a 4-1 record). However, you got to like the all around offensive domination put on by the Hawkeyes thus far. ND gets a TD on the opening drive, not that I expect this to be a game. Auburn down a decent chunk to Arkansas. Maybe the most over-rated team in the country will lose and drop out of the #2 spot. -
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 02:32 PM) To be honest, it looks horrible to me. I think I'm finally going to see jackass tonight, that or get drunk or both. Jackass was ridiculously good. Only movie I've seen in a while and it didn't let down at all. I liked the first one and this one was ridiculously better.

World-wide Popularity of Joe Crede in the Internet
Chisoxfn replied to kristopher9876's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rally Crede and Joe Crede are both my hero's. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2006 -> 06:52 AM) Alex Rodriguez saids "hi" One difference, he was a gold glove SS who moved to 3rd base, not the other way around so to speak. That said I don't think Figgins is near as bad as some of you say in the infield defensively. However, we have Joe Crede and Juan Uribe at 3rd and SS and there isn't any other infield that is better at those two spots defensively. Figgins needs to be given an everday position. He's not that great in CF, but I think thats simply because of a lack of experience. I really think he could be an above avg CF and a stellar left fielder and I do think he'd be an exceptional fit. Was talking to a couple big time Angel fans and it seems like they are thinking he'll get dealt. Doesn't mean he will, but its always interested to hear when fans say a guy could get moved because if fans are willing to move them than mgmt may be willing to move them as well.

QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 01:50 PM) Had to start one for my "other" team. As many of you know, I adopted the Padres as my NL team in 1993 after moving from Chicago to SD to join the Marines. Went to over 50 Padres home game from 93-2004 before moving to Phoenix. Anyways, how can any Sox fan not root for the Pads? Look at their team. It is built almost exactly how the Sox was built last year to make the playoffs. Speed at the top of the order with Roberts (Podsednik). A little pop in the middle with Giles, Piazza and Gonzalez (Dye, Konerko, Crede). A new catcher taking on a yound and old staff in Piazza (AJ). A starting staff that's arguably the best in the playoffs, 4-deep in Peavy, Young, Hensley and Wells. The BEST bullpen in the MLB with the greatest closer of all time. Defense, defense, defense. Roberts and Cameron flying all over the OF like Pods and Rowand. A good DP combo in Greene and Barfield (like Uribe and Iguchi). Good bats off the bench (Bellhorn, Walker, Bard, Klesko, Blum...remember him?) Finally, proof you CAN go out there and with without being in the top 10 in payrolls for the year. GO PADS!!!!!!

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:54 AM) Straight up? I'm not sure the Sox have anything that would make that deal work. The Halos have a ton of young talent already, so they're probably not going to be in the market to trade Figgins to get younger. But at the same time, the guys the White Sox have who the Halos might want on their big league team are way too valuable to be traded for Figgins straight up. They need a bat desperately, so the likely options would be Crede, Thome, Dye...all of whom are worth significantly more than Chone Figgins. The only guys who I think we could do straight up for Figgings talent-wise would be Iguchi or Uribe, and I don't see that happening, because Anaheim's infield is freaking loaded. They might take Anderson for him, but having seen BA for a season, I wouldn't make that deal. The only way that a Figgins deal works is if Figgins is a throw-in alongside some of their big talent youth. I could see the Angels having interest in Josh Fields and Brian Anderson (both going to Anaheim) for Figgins. Well it could be Anderson or Sweeney (either would garnish interest from the Halos).

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Chisoxfn replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Such as having a horseshoe placed firmly up a team's collective ass. The '05 roster, not the '05 team. If the Sox had Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Garica and El Duque in the starting rotation pitching like they did this year except with the '05 offense still in place, meaning Jurrasic, Timo, Blum and company would still be around. There ain't a chance in hell the '05 roster wins 90 games in 2006. No doubt about it. We'd have been lucky to win 80. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:09 AM) Ditto. Come on, Fathom... do you really disrespect and think that lowly of Kenny? Even with identical numbers (avg/obp) Figgins is light years better than Pods. A, because if you put him in left everyday he'd be one of the better left fielders in baseball (with a very strong arm for a LF) and B, because he truly reaks total chaos on the bases and thats something Ozzie wants and needs. Carl Crawford would be great, but I don't see us having what it takes to get him without creating some serious holes on our lineup, but we could potentially get Figgins. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:11 AM) You see him alot more than most of us, so I will trust you. Looking the numbers, his 06 was very discouraging. I just think Crede is more valuable than Figgins at this point. You get a good prospect out of the deal as well, then my interest will start to rise. I am not saying we deal Crede for Figgins. I think it would be stupid to deal Crede unless we are getting a super star type prospect in return or a very high level player in return (pitcher or CF).

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
Chisoxfn replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Don't know if your being sarcastic, but I think the 05 team makes the playoffs. I'm referring to the way the 05 team played, not referring to the 05 roster. Specifically I think we all know that the 06 team would win well over 100 games if our pitching staff pitched like it did last year, if not 110 plus games. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:00 AM) Figgins is a slight upgrade over Pods IMO. I liked Figgins alot, but he was Pods-esc this season. If we really want, we can bring Pods back. Why would we trade Crede for something we already have. Give KW a little more credit than that.... You give Figgins one position to play and watch him explode.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 07:04 AM) That's been Stoneman's motto in the past to hang onto the young players. But the Angels missed out on the playoffs this season and Arte Moreno has let it be known that they want to get a stud player in the off-season. So like I said earlier, if the Angels can't sign a good run producer in FA (and I don't think it's a very big class this off-season IIRC), they'll have to fill that need in the trade market. I wouldn't believe though that the Angels wouldn't offer Santana and Kendrick for Garland and Crede when they offered a deal of Santana, Aybar and Kotchman or Adenhart for Miggy Tejada about 2 months back. As for your Crawford suggestion, that's why it's improtant that we trade a veteran starter for a stud pitching spect, so we can include that in the Crawford deal. I'd have no problems with a Danks and Broadway for Crawford deal for example. And if people here think that Tampa would be interested in Owens considering the depth of OF's they have, well I have absolutely no idea where they are coming from. Why in god sakes would we make that trade. Garland is hands down better than Santana and while I love the offensive potential of Kendrick, right now he doens't even come close to holding Crede's jock strap. That would be bloody awful.

Leading off for the 2007 white sox will be....

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) If it's Pierre or Figgins, Ozzie wins, and our offense, the team, and thus the fanbase all lose. I don't give a damn how fast these guys are or if they can bunt, neither of them can produce runs, neither can throw, and neither can get on base. That is BAD. Umm, Figgins has a pretty darn good arm. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 07:11 PM) Here's the thing that I think people on here fail to realize: as much as guys like Pierre and Figgins suck, they play the game the way Ozzie wants players to. Both of them can steal, bunt, etc. The sad thing is that I've almost convinced myself that Pierre would be a good addition to this team. I would have absolutely no problem with Pierre or Figgins because both do the little things Ozzie wants. I realize they don't have that sexy OBP but they will put pressure on the team and do the things our manager wants. Bottom line is we have Ozzie so we have to give him parts he wants and well quite frankly not having a running version of Pods at the top of the order this year really hurt this team (maybe not a ton statistically, although Pods obviously sucked every which way) but I think it more so hurt the entire team in a sense by not having that spark plug at the top that could get himself into scoring position or just get on with a bunt when a pitcher is dominating (steal 2nd) and come in on a single or something. We'll see a new leadoff hitter next year, one with tons of speed and the ability to steal. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) I'm not convinced I like him yet. The injury part always worries me. But I don't have access to significant amounts of medical data on these guys...I'll leave that to KW to research if he thinks its worth it. I thought Jermaine Dye was a big risk when he was signed because of the injury history. If KW could be convinced that he could stay healthy...he could be an ideal buy because others would be scared off by the injury history and the D-Rays might not want to get caught holding him in a crowded outfield. But a lot depends on that injury history. Does his supplier come with the deal, or would that cost us Fields as well? Alright I'll bite, did he get busted for Roids or something or is this just speculation based on the power he had a year ago. Remember, until now I've been away from almost all sports news for about 2 weeks. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) Chisoxfan I know you live near the Angels and everything but you are the only person ive ever heard call it a hitters ballpark. Everyone I have talked to about it and whenevr I hear about it on ESPN its moreso refered to as a pitchers ballpark. Now not to the degree of Seattle/Oakland both in your division but still benefits pitchers more than hitters. All I know is about a year or two ago the big stat thrown around was that there were that in terms of hr's per game and runs per game over like a 6 year category was amongst the top 5 in baseball. It was talked about a lot at the time and has quieted down a bit the past two years, but thats because there offense blows and there pitching staff is pretty good. The ball absolutely jumps out of this place though and it is NOT a pitchers park. Not even freaking close, its a hitters park (not in the sake of Coors Field or Houston) but its still a hitters park. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 03:14 PM) I'd LOVE to have Ervin Santana on the Sox. He's still young and he's going to get better. He's not going to be as good as McCarthy but he's going to be a very solid starter, hell he's already pretty damn good. Like I said about Michael Young, Santana will be good no matter where he plays I don't know about that. He could very well be better than Brandon. I like Brandon but he's still got a long ways to go, mainly because the White Sox completely wasted the 2006 season on him.

Minnesota Twins Post Mortem Playoff Thread

The Twins pitching without Liriano isn't that scary. Hate to say it but I don't see them going far. A's/Yanks to fight to see who wins the series. -
QUOTE(cuddlyboy26 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 02:16 PM) Ok lets just say hypotheticaly that Rex had 30 TD passes, Eli had around 25, McNabb had 30 as well, Hasselback had around 25 too, and Vick had 15 but his usual scramble plays and the Falcons were leading the division at 10-4 around at the time. Who do you think would be picked in that hypothetical scenario? Considering that the Bears may have the best record in the NFC to boot, Rex would defintaely get the nod given your scenario. Lets remember one thing, the Bears are one of the most well known franchises in the NFL and historically are one of the greatest as well. In fact, I'd say we are a far more storied franchise than either of the one's in New York. Hell, I can only say the Packers are potentially more storied than the Bears. Now I am not going to say I expect Rex to make the pro bowl, but if his numbers are that good, he'll no doubt get the nod. In fact if his numbers were identical to Eli, I'd expect Rex to get the nod.

Top 10 Outfield Options for 2007 in Free Agency

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 1, 2006 -> 01:39 PM) There seems to be a lack of a "none of the above" button. Ya, the only guy I like on that list is Sarge Jr. but there are a lot of questions as to whether he'll be able to duplicate those numbers. If he could, I'd sign him in a heartbeat. If we are going to upgrade the outfield, it will be done via trade. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) This post makes no sense. You think Anaheim stadium is a hitter's park (disagree) but it doesn't explain why he is terrible on the road, and why it would make sense to acquire him when he would pitch in Anaheim maybe once next season if he was on our team. If a guy doesn't play well in the other 29 parks, I don't want him on our team. Its quiet simple. Usually people say a guy stinks on the road simply because he's pitching in a pitchers park. For example if Santana was a Dodger and had an awful road pslit and a good home split I'd see reason for concern. However, if you can get outs in a hitters park (which Anaheim is) than you should be able to get them anywhere. there are always fluke type of stats that fluctuate from year to year. All I know is one thing, Santana is a good looking pitching prospect who I'd take on this ball club in a heart beat. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 12:34 PM) Every expert on this board said that Soriano couldnt hit outside of his ballpark, and his power numbers especially wont be there. There are factors about everything, lineups, coaching, s*** if the hot tub in the clubhouse is nice enough. Fact is, Santana is a good pitcher. He is young, talented, and is worth a lot IMO. Touche. And a lot of people have vastly underrated Soriano's stats and numbers for a long long time.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 11:57 AM) This is true, I believe Tampa wanted Santana and Wood but Anaheim was having no part of it. Yep. As far as those quoting Santana's road stats, I'd just like to point out that he's pitching in Anaheim stadium, which as far as I'm concerned is a hitters park. In fact I think its one of the bigger hitters parks in all of baseball (although those numbers may be down a bit because there offense was freaking terrible).
