  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:39 AM) NE is getting manhandled, of course I have them in a survivor pool and have 16 confidence points on them Ya, I'd guess at least a few others had the same thing picked. They need to pick things up or they will be 0-1. This would be the one upset I'd have never picked, even though I think the Bills are a bit better than a lot of people say they are (thats just because I've heard some say they are the very worse team in the NFL and I don't think thats the case, the Titans and Jets rank right there if you ask me).
  2. Holy cripes, I just realized that the Bills were up 10 on the Pats. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:00 AM) VINCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE Throws a pick
  3. Saints are dominating right now, but are only up 6-0. They were one of my sleeper teams entering the season (not that I think they'll make the playoffs, but they have some pretty damn good offensive weapons, only thing is I think there defense will keep em out of the post-season).
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 10:13 AM) I'm loving the Cincinnatti/KC game I'm getting on CBS but Lions Seahawks is hella weak. I'm not looking forward to another season of only getting NFC North team's games on Fox. So far Carson Palmer looks pretty damn good, the Chiefs are throwing a lot of different blitz packages his way and he's threading the needle he's made one very bad pass though which almost resulted in a pick. Oh, I have Rams/Broncos and Saints/Browns so consider yourself lucky.
  5. I can't freaking believe the Saints/Browns game is nationally televised where I am. What the hell is up with that.
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:51 AM) To answer your second question, yes, if Crede can't come back real soon, expect Fields to be in the lineup at 3B. The Sox can't survive with a guy like Mack, Cintron or Ozuna defensively at 3B for an extended period. As far as Crede's injury, everything I have read seems to indicate that this is same thing Crede has dealt with over the past few seasons and Guillen is listing this as more of a precautionary thing so that Crede is ready for the stretch run. Crede, however, had an interesting quote about the injury and the possibility of surgery yesterday: "I never want to have surgery on anything, especially in the back area," Crede said. "But they sound pretty confident that it's a small surgery, that it won't have any long term effects. They say it will make you feel better, but there's also other stuff that could go wrong with it, too. ... It's something I obviously want to avoid but if it comes to it, it comes to it." My guess is he will be back within the next 2-3 games and try to play out the season. This definitely seems like something he's going to need to get taken care of though otherwise he is a big risk for us if we want to sign him to a long term deal. I actually think Mack is probably a better defensive 3rd baseman than Fields and right now is much more ready to succeed at the major league level offensively. But either way I'd expect to see Josh. Joe is in the lineup today though so hopefully his back will be alright.

  8. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 12:58 AM) Nice win, this team hates my heart but it's all good when they pull 'em out. I'm looking very forward to these next two games to see what Javy and JC have. Especially with Contreras, I'm very interested to see if the Count is back to playoff form or if that was just one dominant game against Boston. He had an awesome performance against the Tigers, a boatload of awful starts, and than an awesome performance against the Red Sox. I'm convinced he's healthy but having a hell of a time finding any sort of consistent release point. You don't dominate like he did in two different games without being healthy, imo, or at least reasonably healthy. Javy has been much better after making his adjustment and is due to pick up a W. However, even with his last start included, he is still struggling to get deeper into games and considering how our pen does (anyone not named Thorty, Jenks, and MacDougall) earlier in the games we'll need Javy to go at least 6, hopefully 7.
  9. A big series with Javier Vazquez toeing the rubber in what could give the Sox 3 out of 4 against the Tribe and some real momentum. Sox currently have a 2 game winning streak which was built behind strong starts by Freddy Garcia and Jon Garland and some poor work by our bullpen (well Jenks in one game and Logan/Bmac in the other). Come on Sox, lets take this series and bring some momentum to Anaheim where I'll be in attendance following my first day at my first real job (ie the kind that is no longer just a part time gig).
  10. I'm liking Razorlight. Its kind of odd and I've only listened to it a few times, but kind of a unique sounding band. I almost say they are like an odd type of She Wants Revenge but I may be off-base in saying that but they have a hint of something I've heard before mixed with something unique.
  11. LB had a great start and the Knights had a very strong season. I'm glad Charlotte was finally able to get a winning season under there belt cause its been a few years.
  12. Does anyone else think that Troy Smith and Reggie Bush have some sort of resemblance.
  13. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:57 PM) I agree. Iowa has no shot. They don't have a QB, a kicker, a RB who can rush for a 100 yards, or a wide receiver who can catch the ball. They're screwed. Exactly...I'm glad your buying into my sarcasm. The last couple years I've expected annhilation and been let down, it won't happen again this year. We got home field advantage and will be well prepared (all Ferentz teams are).
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:50 PM) Spurrier not happy Man, I can't get past how ridiculously good next Saturday's ND/Michigan game is going to be. And than of course there is the Iowa/ISU game.
  15. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) I don't think it'd be halarious if the Tigers flop. Me personally...I hate ALL THINGS MINNESOTA....Twins and Viqueens. Plus...the Sox match up better with Detroit. For you guys pulling for Minnesota...I'd think again. I can't hate on the Twins. In fact, aside from the World Series ring, I'm kind of jealous of the Twins. They play the game right and have a tremendous all around organization. In fact, if the Braves somehow go into hybernation mode (not saying it will happen) than the Twins would be the best organization in baseball, imo. Its just too bad they got a s*** bag owner.
  16. I should add, right now I'm pulling for another Twins win cause I think our best chance is both the Twins and Sox passing the Tigers in the division with both teams making the playoffs.
  17. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) Woohoo the Cyclones won! Two straight Clones games that were way closer than they should be. God, this means they are gonna just whipe the floor against the Hawkeyes. I sure hope Tate is 100% for the Cyclone game, we will need him, especially considering how ISU always brings there A game for us and we usually bring about our C game.
  18. The offense came out in full force and the Sox pick up the Win. Oh and Jon Garland gave up 1 run in 6 innings!!!!
  19. Thorty picks up the save. On a sidenote, was Jenks actually up? I wasn't paying attention when they were panning to the pen but the only times I looked I swear I only saw Thorty up.
  20. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) HA, fans booing Guillen for not bringing in Jenks. I thought they were booing for taking MacDougall out. 1 pitch away from the win.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) But don't you think that after this year's struggles with Widger's hitting, they might want to make sure they have a strong offensive back-up catcher? Aaron Rowand would have misplayed that ball Right now I don't have a f***ing clue what our organization is doing. There are a lot of things that make zero sense to me and most of them stem from things Ozzie's done or things Ozzie's said. I should add that I don't think Stewart is a major league starter, however, I think he's a very very good backup and a guy that is a damn good defensive replacement. If he could ever hit .250-.260 he'd start on a lot of teams. I'd love to see what a guy like Scioscia would do with Stewart (I think Scioscia would absolutely love Chris). Oh the odd thing is, we have a guy down in the minors, Donny Lucy, who still has some improvements to make but in a year or two could be completely superior to Stewart defensively and Lucy has a bit of offensive upside, however I don't know if he'll ever reach it.
  22. That stinks, you wonder if the bruised thumb will prevent a call up. I also wonder if Tracey will join the club. Although its been a while since Tracey has done much anything good. He finished the year in a funk.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 07:22 PM) Yes, I've heard he's the best defensive catcher in the organization. Not just our organization, but almost every organization. However, I doubt Stewart is calling this game all on his own, considering he's still not overly familiar with these guys. Nice full count strike pitch by MacDougall. Man is he nasty, I just hope he can stay healthy.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 06:40 PM) 14-7 Ohio St. Great drive right before halftime. 17-7, an interception by McCoy led to an OSU field goal. OSU has now scored 10 points off Texas turnovers. Following the turnover, Texas went back out and failed to move the ball and OSU has the ball again with the opportunity of going for the semi kill.
