Giants get rid of Jason Garret. I will say - Nagy, to no surprise, handled the situation pretty well and with a high degree of professionalism.
-
At least we know he learns from his players - that is right out of the Trubisky playbook
-
No matter what - Bears handled this bad. They either literally ignored the report and didn't get in front of the denial and put Nagy/Tabor in an awful spot. Or it is true and they didn't just get it done / let it leak and created a really bad situation. I am still shocked that Nagy had to deny the report - it makes me think it is real but it is just so poorly handled. I will note - there is no good way to let go of someone, but this certainly doesn't seem like a best practice approach.
-
I do think it is interesting no one in Bears org has came out and refuset this - other than poor Chris Tabor had to just get talked to a ton. I feel for Nagy in his press conference at this point.

I fully expect Champ to be the new GM and Pace to move up. The big change will be - Ted Phillips will move into a role outside of football operations. If Pace moving up to president is what it takes to remove Ted from football operations, I am okay with it. I have my beef with Pace but Champ is supposedly highly respected and it allows football people to be football people, especially if Champ has more control at that point. Is the above what I would do, no, but getting a new HC, removing Teddy from football, and getting a quasi new GM is better than nothing. I also think Pace can be a better president than a GM.
-
I'm still not sure I believe it. OR did an actual real announcement get made.
-
Well thats the point - you can't let something like that leak, if the whole reason you kept him was purely the "short week" deal.
-
This can't be true - you can't have something like that leak. I get the whole "short week" deal, but if you are going to do it, just do it.
-
Terrible and digusting. I say Bears fans can be the worse and the people at the crowd that did this are the worst of the worse.
-
Not a shock - but I am still bummed - Dalton to start Thursday. I was hoping it would be Fields but better safe than sorry with Fields. I just wanted Fields to play Lions and hopefully make some studly kick ass plays to make my thanksgiving exciting! Haha.
-
Exactly. If you are going that route - stick to 2 or 3 year deals. Or endorse my Marte(s) & Scherzer plan!
-
Nah - I want Max and the Marte duo. I stick to my guns - go big or go home on this one. If you get Scherzer….homer Simpson do something…something…go crazy!!! Don’t mind if I do
-
They were awful. Defense was brutal - Derozan was horrible. Lavine wasn't bad in 1st half - didn't watch 2nd half to see what happened ( got busy with work and my son ran in to tell me score and figured I don't need to watch anymore).
-
Matz would be nice fit for Angels - than they will go after Scherzer after.
-
Not ideal - especially against a team with Sabonis and Turner. Very ugly start. They look totally flat - can’t shoot and making sloppy turnovers.
-
Lets be honest - they are getting shut out in almost half of the 1st half's they have played. They literally can't score points and it is an offensive coach who is supposed to be doing it. Regardless of how Nagy might handle a lockeroom at some point you are going to lose it. It was incredible he lasted as long as he did. I think with the new rules where you can start interviewing sooner - Nagy will be first coach dumped before season ends in franchise history. The only question at this point is whether Pace will be with him or not.

I watched the Pistons/Lakers drama go down live yesterday. Utter joke that LBJ got 1 game for that and the Pistons player just got 2. The Pistons player went ballistic. Should have gotten more than 2 games and quite frankly, Lebron getting ejected was enough. He did nothing to escalate, etc.
-
But the point is - they have parts - and if in 2 years Fields hasn't panned out - they have massive cap space and tons of draft capital to swing again and the next new QB would be in an even better spot again at that point. And Kmet is not mediocre - he put up 4 straight games (until this week when for whatever reason the game plan went away from the TE) where he put up very solid numbers all while being a special blocker. Is he a top 3 TE in this league, no, but he can be a Kyle Rudolph type of TE and that is pretty valuable. Montgomery may not be elite - but he has been pretty impressive at putting up yards going back to 2nd half of last season. Herbert is solid too. That is a good thing for a young QB and they are affordable. I agree RB's are a dime and dozen but having a quality one is still nice. I'm not guaranteeing anything - but when people act like the Bears are 5 years away or that Pace went for it all this year (like this year had to be a playoff or bust year) - that is just crazy talk. 1 - the NFL is a 1/2 year window to rebuild anyway (you can turn over an entire roster in basically 2 years with a good front office, right moves, and right coaching). But I am high on Fields - not saying it is a slam dunk, cause there are issues/real reasons to be concerned. But I have seen a lot of special and I think he has the right mental fortitude, leadership, etc to overcome some limitations that I don't think he will ever truly overcome. I don't think he will ever be a guy that drops back and just dices up a defense with quick release throws...but his athleticism, poise, leadership and downfield play making ability, combined with his ability to force defenses to have to defend his legs (which helps free up options downfield) will more than make up from it.

Don’t jinx this next stretch, especially after that physical of a game vs Knicks. Refs were awful but a great game and fantastic win. White delivered in 4th and looked pretty quick. Great to see because he will be a huge pick up to the bench and fill one of their weaknesses (good bench scorer). He also adds yet another guy who can from time to time make plays with the ball. He was an awful pg but when you don’t need him to do it all the time his playmaking is okay.
-
It’s the nfl, you can rebuild in an offseason (worse to first happens regularly). They have cap space next year and massive cap space in two years and almost all their draft picks sans the 1st rounder. And they can trade Quinn and Mack and get more picks. They also have young oline men, a good young CB, Roquan, Montgomery/Herbert, Kmet. If Fields is real this team is not far off at all. One season max until they can be a legit regular contender. That is if Fields is the real deal. The Rams have won for years with no high picks and mediocre qb play. If Fields is legit and it is no guarantee but I like his chances - this team will be fun for bulk of this decade!
-
That was an awful loss. I figured they were going to make things interesting record wise in 2nd half of seaso. - but todays game cemented it. At this point, I kind of expect them to lose to Lions. They left a ton of chunk plays on the field and the defense had a ton of breakdowns against an offense as crappy as the Ravens (given backup QB).
-
There were past offseasons I wanted Semien - because I thought you would get value. I want nothing to do with Semien this offseason.
-
He is awful right now - but I will wait ten games before I rip him. Literally had no offseason. I still think with time on this unit he will have a nice place.
-
This team is real good - so is Denver - just imagine how good they are with all their horses too.
-
That was fun. In Denver is always hard - first win there since 2006. Lavine and Derozan down the stretch - monsters. Hoping we get Vuc back for the Knicks.
