I actually think you are right - and I've knocked White a lot - but I think he's in a much better place to succeed and build with this new roster. Having guys like Caruso, Ball, etc alongside him is going to take a ton of the pressure of being a primary distributor and put him in a place where he's going to get to be himself and he'll likely benefit with a few more open 3's just by playing with those guys too. Donovan will have to use him like a microwave - when he's hot - you play him, when he's off, quick hook.

Reality is White, Williams, picks and one of the existing core pieces are probably getting dealt for a disgruntled star at some point to take this team next level (or some combination of that). Don't ask me who that star is - and no - not making that deal for Ben Simmons (nor are the Sixers).
-
They will need to find an athletic big that can play D and rebound at some point - but that should be doable (not great) but someone who can help against longer teams so they don't get crushed on the boards.

He has not gotten a few lose balls which really irritates me. Right now I think its more likely he is a very meh player but I hope I see some explosion / quickness in a week or two and this is more him still regaining his stamina from his injury. That was a fun 3 quarters - brutal 4th quarter but to pull that out when Lavine wasn't at his best was awesome to see. Derozan came up huge late and for a team that outside of that first game against Detroit has really not turned the ball over - was tough to see them start giving up the ball left and right down the stretch. Still - good lesson for the squad and always better when you learn in a victory than via a loss

Still a road game against a decent team. I'm not sleeping on the Raptors. Would be awesome to get another win!

I am all in on grabbing the Bills guy - but I imagine he may prefer some other destinations out there. The good news is there is no legit #1 QB in this years draft - and the Bears are probably the only team with a high draft pick at QB this past year who are going to have a new head coach, so that might work its way in their favor when it comes to landing its next HC (or even GM for that matter). ' Pats = No Niners = No (and if they did - I'll take him as our HC haha) Jets = No (not after 1 year) Jags = Maybe = but it is still Jags (Bears have to be a better destination vs. them)

This - and a lot of plays were blown up from the start. I mean I think he got clobbered in under 2 seconds on two of the plays he fumbled. That is non-existent and maybe part of that is on the rookie in not getting the right protections set, etc, but man the offense seems to be so focused on making someone an adept pocket passer which is just no place to put almost any rookie QB. Same thing we saw with Trubisky where they kept pushing a square peg round hole element. There should be a lot more designed runs - designed quick hitters - designed clean reads, etc. Even if it is - go here and here and if neither throw away type of deals. You have to build that in to having a young QB vs. Nagy just seems to say we are going to do it my way or no way. I just can't get his quote - this is year 4 so now people finally shouldn't understand this offense enough to make it work. I know it was probably a garbage quote from him - but still - I have to believe there is some truth to how absolutely delusional he is.

I still like Fields - but obviously I would have liked to thinks go better for him to start. I think he has the right attitude and intangibles. I agree with others that he doesn't look near as explosive as I expected (given his 40 speed) but I think that is because he is thinking too much out there. I also go back to this is not the right offense / set-up for a rookie QB, especially one with Fields skill sets and current limitations. Tony Romo was brutal in the 1st half re: what the Bears were doing with Fields and I think it is pretty clear to everyone how bad this offensive scheme is. This team is probably a 7/8/9th best team in NFC as I think the defense is actually pretty good (nothing they could have done on Sunday) and Dalton can make this offense look okay enough....but the whole point is this is an awful offense to actually develop anyone in and beyond that the skill position talent and oline remain weak. If you want to go all in on offense, than show it and start doing it. I don't know that getting rid of Nagy now vs. later changes anything unfortunately until the off-season, but it might. I also don't think Lazor is amazing and he is stuck inheriting what he has in terms of a really weak offensive scheme.

Ok - I was worried something more to it. I can live with that. I will admit - the vets played more than I would have liked given two of those wins were blowouts.
-
What is wrong with Vuc?
-
Man - can’t we bears fans have one nice thing. How many years in a row without any real offense. Ugh - one time they had marshall, Jeffery, Bennett and Forte and a good qb but no line and the weakest head coach I’ve ever seen. Blow it all up…please McCaskey. Blow it up and invest in the offense..:if Fields sucks two years from now at least the next QB we draft or acquire will have some pieces to work with.
-
This. I lol at how many people lauded the off-season wideout additions. Oh that guy ran a 4.3..he must be good…no that doesn’t make someone good. They need to actually be good.
-
I don’t do it often but I gave up at halftime. Disaster is all I can say. No salvage. I said in Browns game go these lows happen, but today against that Bucs defense with no secondary it highlights how bad everything offensive is. From Fields to the lack of pure talent. Bears need to be building for future and work on moving any part not expected around next year or year after.

His shot looks quick but he has to learn from Lavine and Derozan and become better at finishing in and around paint. That is what takes him next level. That d is sick and he is so lethal in fast break with guys running. The block he had in first half was sweet.
-
He has nice touch but looks so slow by my eye test. He got heavy between off-seasons which looked like the plan as they want him playing more four but still - I’d like to see more quickness. His mid range is nice - need aggression though.
-
Heck yeah - ugly finish and still win by a ton. Lavine with a bad night and you have a 31 point lead in 4th quarter…stellar. Derozan with a real nice game and defense remained stellar. Pistons are terrible though.
-
You know me - I was early on that bandwagon and was quite happy when you were the first poster here to join me on it haha!!!
-
Hell yeah - that was fun. Lavine is a stud and that team defense by bulls was just stellar. Fantastic. Some point they will need to move Vuc for a better player - a year from now that plus picks and white for a great player will be what puts bulls over the top!!! Oh man let’s win again tomorrow and than 11 of next 12 vs teams that made playoffs a year ago. Fired up!!!
-
Oh and Lavine was spectacular. Highly efficient and great defense.
-
Vuc missed good shot after good shot. But man Ball and Caruso d down stretch was sweet. Wasn’t pretty but felt good to win on opening day. When was the last time that happened for the bulls.

Love it.

The big thing is - Fields has made a lot of strides on reading the D. I saw where Chris Simms has already made some statements that he was wrong on Fields. Pretty premature change given it has only been a handful of games, but nice to see how people are looking at the film and how he goes through his progressions and strides being made. Like I said - i want to see some splashier games and more and more splash plays that showcase these improvements. I keep thinking we might have a pretty fun 2nd half of the year and I'm really interested in this Bucs game. I think the Bears will get trucked...but I also think there will be some opportunities to see Fields get unleashed a bit more (and if he fails that is okay -> but this can be a good learning example of how far he's came in those 4 starts).

There was a time people were down on Robert (not me), but he was always hurt and his initial year didn't show a lot. I always say when you get these guys, give them a year to acclimate to the culture, get back to routines/develop new routines, etc. Hopefully we see him take a big step forward next year.
-
Sounds like a great pickup. Yeah he's RH but I am okay with this and you can still add a lefty bat where appropriate.
-
Bottom line - the team didn't play good enough. They actually hit for a high average - but couldn't hit with enough power/get big hit when it mattered. Bullpen was a train wreck and starting rotation didn't deliver. They were on the cusp and not near a bad as the series indicated but the horses that they saw all season didn't show up against the Astros, who were hot. Astros on the other hand had 2 electric starts from there ace and a TON of timely hits and played great defense. Everything exasperated things but I wouldn't go as far as saying if you played those series another 5 times that the Sox lose 5 of them...maybe Houston takes 3 and the Sox take 2. Bottom line - guys didn't show up. It happens and the team needs to learn from this with the good news being the roster still has a ton of talent, many of which is still trending in the "up" direction vs. stable or down. There will obviously be losses too...ROdon was amazing and he wont' replicate but I'd also bet Keuchel isn't as bad either and having Robert/Eloy hopefully healthy is a big boost too. I'm excited for next year and curious to see what moves they actually do make. Still hate the Kimbrel move but whatever, teams will make bad moves and that doesn't take away from how good this team is and that they absolutely should contend again.
