    2021 Catch-All

The reality is all/most of the shops all sub-contract out the install so no matter what you kind of run a risk of having a bad install experience that is at least partially out of control of the main vendor (because it is a sub). I had an appliance from Best Buy about 2 years ago put in (after years of never using Best Buy) and it was really good. I usually have used Lowes but will not I have had issues in past with them -> but they were always pretty forthcoming about trying to help/resolve...whether giving discounts, etc.
  2. Yeah. You got to tender him. Depth rotation guy and his stuff plays so well as a pen piece (worse case). I still like him more out of pen vs starter but good to have the flexibility during a long season.
  3. Maybe setting things up for Kopech and Rodon piggy backing a start in the playoffs?
  4. Lopez can get hit though too. So lets just keep the runs coming for the Sox :). I was surprised Jose didn't score on that either (wasn't that hit with 2 outs).
  5. On the bright side -> dead end job got you free tickets and you are now doing something you love!
  6. I was 25 year old, single working stiff....now I'm a 38 year old working stiff, married for 10+ years with two kids.
  7. So you are just going to ignore Delta variant and impact of a variant that was clearly more highly contagious that came rushing out during the time frame you indicated. Beyond Delta - the us populations behaviors around COVID also shifted. More people living closer to normal lives. More people going out, more vacations, less restrictions etc. Not saying things back to normal but most vaccinated people made some choice to resume many things that they had stopped doing prior to being vaccinated.
  8. This - and I'll go on record saying that Trevor Lawrence and Wilson getting fed to the wolves isn't the best thing for their development either. In general, I lean towards a bit more time is better than throwing people out too quickly. I think the risk of bad habits and the set backs that come with getting out there too soon are > than risk that you take a bit too long to get a guy ready. No one ever failed by waiting a season or half a season but I think many people have failed by getting pushed in too soon that they built in bad habits, etc or just didn't have the right system around them yet to be in the right position to succeed, grow and learn. Personally -> I just didn't love the idea of Fields playing against Browns & Rams early with a makeshift line, knowing his challenge is he tends to hold on too long vs. not. I think he benefits from watching Dalton get rid of the ball quickly, work his way through the pocket, etc. I still think the Bears have a real asset in Dalton and his injury was costly. I think they could have dealt Dalton in a few weeks, moved Foles to back-up, started Fields and probably got a decent pick for Dalton. Washington (less likely given early return on Heinecke), Miami could be two potential destinations of teams that have defenses built to contend and ? at offense. Texans could be another spot, although I doubt they would give up much and who knows who else might go down along the way. Dalton was showing he's still pretty damn solid in his 1 and 1 quarter game action. I hope his injury isn't serious because I would love to get a 3rd or 4th rounder at some point for him (not likely but you never know).
  9. I think it is the opposite. If Fields is just okay, he wants to be able to go back to Dalton without implying FIelds failed, etc. Reality is I think he's putting this narrative out there to try and protect Fields a bit. Odds Fields just goes out and crushes it is probably slim and Bears may go back to Dalton in 2 weeks when he is 100% because what they see just further validates they want Fields to have more time. Their statements that Dalton is the starter if healthy at least imply that to be the case and let Fields just do what he does. I think the Chargers treated things similarly before Herbert exploded.
  10. I think the reality is it is because he thinks Fields needs more time and he doesn't want to put him in too early where he hears voices, etc. Some of it might be he's gun shy after the Mitch piece and he obviously has recency bias the other way with Mahomes. It is pretty clear FIelds has things he needs to work through (no surprise -> all young QB's do) its more of are they ready to put him in the best position to grow and learn from those mistakes. I think he can but I always said I had no problem with the game plan and Dalton is much better than many Bear fans give him credit to be.
  11. Nonsense. It absolutely stops the spread. Less people contract the virus with vaccine than without -> less people spread. With delta those impacts were less impactful but non delta was significant.
  12. I just wish Fields first start wasn’t against that browns defense but hey…who knows what can happen. Defense was better but man - 2 different awful penalties that extended drives. Quinn late hit and Gipson taunting. It is nice that Quinn has already made more plays in two games than he did all of last year.
  13. Fields had some nice shots down field but he also holds onto ball too long. I think he will learn and I would have preferred him waiting a bit longer. Poor Dalton - he was playing really good today before that injury.
  14. But there isn’t any control today anyway. You want your kids to go to school - they have to get multiple vaccinations. Same goes for certain jobs. So yes you can choose to home school but the full control has always been limited when it comes to public health.
  15. Hydro made sense though - at time limit data and no good treatment options or vaccines. We are now in this world where we actually have vaccines. Look I won’t argue if someone gets the virus they want the kitchen sink thrown at things…I argue with you have a proven and highly effective tool that is being ignored for many of the same reasons people are taking things that are not approved for. A year ago if I got Covid and got really sick I would probably take a shot on hydro just like if god forbid I had a horrible cancer I would take another shot at some form of experimental treatment as a wing and prayer.

    2021 Catch-All

So this happened at my cities council meeting this week. Epically hilarious. https://fb.watch/835JZcYr17/
  17. Week 1 in NFL is all about overreactions. I think the defense is old and past its prime...that is a fact, not an overreaction. I also dont' necessarily think that is on Nagy or Sean Desai. I also think the defense in week 1 had some fundamental breakdowns that opened up those big plays and they did it against a playcaller who is the best in the business (i.e, he does that to elite defenses too). The fact that those breakdowns happened in week 1 (i.e., still very early in the season) vs. week 8 gives me some hoep that some of that gets cleaned up. But I didn't see a lot to just completely crush Nagy over. I didn't like the lack of a vertical attack, but when your down a number of LT's, etc and going against a Rams pass rush that is considered one of the best in the league...I couldn't really argue the game plan. Quite frankly, the Bears ran the ball decently, won the TOP game (partly because their defense was brutal...but also because the offense moved the chains). The offense didn't execute enough when they got into Rams territory and had a brutal red zone turnover (the tO that came on 4th down where dalton fumbled...it was 4th down and a double move where they took an aggressive play and line couldn't hold). I guess what I'm saying is....I don't think this is a great football team...that is more on Pace than Nagy as I didn't have a lot to crush Nagy for when they kept it close, before collapsing late. I also liked their use of Fields in the game....with maybe the one spot where I would have kept him in during that 1st red zone possession on the 3. Note: I would have been fine moving on from Nagy last year too -> but to me more of this roster / issues are on Pace who I can apprecaite for certain things, but he has whiffed way too much on his use of cap capital and draft capital. Getting Fields was a mea culpa but he better be able to pivot and do a significantly better job on the pro personnel side where this team has whiffed in FA (which happens) but also whiffed really badly on internal guys (picking wrong guys to extent vs. let walk, not trading guys at right time..i.e., Pats style to maximize assets) and just the whole Fuller fiasco where they ruined a golden opportunity to get some form of assets.
  18. As an update - now down 11 lb's from my high....which was on 8/22. Have upped my running to about 4 miles a few times a week, with biking (with the kids) and/or swimming occasionally replacing running to just keep things fresh. Did a more accelerated run yesterday -> with every mile <8:30 and my last mile at 7:53. One thing I have noticed is -> my diligence on this front has paid off in other places in my life. In particular - my focus across the board is up (I'm usually a pretty focused individual -> however I'd say I have been hyper focused, both personally and professionally, since I started this). I don't know if it is a bi-product of me making this a big deal that I've had to carve out time I didn't have and thus get more structured across the board or what.
  19. Nice to have an easy one!!! Robert and Sheets with big games, bullpen had a scary inning or two...but held them scoreless for 5.
  20. No - I don't think that was really ever the case. They maybe would have went a different direction if they could have landed Stamford (and I don't know what that strategy would have looked like...but I bet you Kyle Fuller would be around and other tweaks would have been made). Stafford would not have been a good move by the Bears...and who knows how serious they were or weren't. There was no way they weren't going to take a shot at QB in the draft -> that was always the case but they couldn't just sit around and hope so they needed a plan B. They are in this mess though because Pace was lousy with a lot of draft picks and whiffed completely in his use of high stakes draft capital. Mack = MISS (I said it when they made the move -> too early of an aggression and wrong use of draft capital); Miller (another miss and cost of key draft capital); Trubisky - Miss (dont' blame him for taking a QB -> but top pick miss)....Kevin White - top pick whiff; Floyd - Top pick whiff. Bottom line - he's failed at leveraging / maximize draft capital.
  21. I dont' know that they aren't committing to a rebuild. I think they are just trying to bridge the gap -> but reality is the money is going to be coming off the books prety significantly in next 1-2 years, so outside of not having that 1st round pick -> they should have a lot of opportunities to start enhancing the team and injecting youth. And they have invested in some young olineman so I'm not going to jump on the line just yet...and I dont' think the line was that bad given the Rams have a really good line. I do think the Bears inability to stretch the field is just brutal in this modern NFL because you allow teams to shorten everything. Maybe this was by design given who the Rams are at generating a pass rush -> but not something that is sustainable. This looked a lot like the "game manager" offense they put around Mitch last year and I would have expected a bit more out of Dalton given he is much better at reading defenses. I should caveat - other than a brutal red zone pick (bad decision) I didn't think he played poorly -> but the thing with Dalton is, he just can't go out and win you games. If they had an elite defense -> fine, it works...but the Bears are shifting away from that and FIelds is a guy who if things work out, he absolutely CAN win you games. He has that "it"..that special talent to make everyone better and do things even when everything else breaks down.
  22. I wanted fuller and thought it was a poor use of resources - that said - if the intent was start shifting resources to offense and start finding younger pieces than go ahead and try Vilder and others to see if you got something...or if you don't. You don't learn anything by playing Fuller. I feel the same way across other places -> but that is because I think this is a total rebuilding program.
